Chris Christie & those incessant, tiresome New Jersey 'Stronger Than the Storm' commercials... ENOUGH ALREADY!

New Yorkers and New Jersey people will know what I'm talking about, and perhaps the rest of the country is being inundated by them also.

A constant, non-stop, sappy song playing commercial showing "beautiful" New Jersey scene with people 'coming back' from the hurricane.

And they all feature fat ass Christie and his obese family. His fat daughter, his incredible fat son and his only mildly chunky wife (that poor woman, I feel so sorry for her.).

He's clearly using state money for campaign airtime by featuring himself in the state's tourism promotions but either way, the continuous loop these commercials is on is maddening. This fat fuck is as corrupt as any mobster in his tactics to keep his job and the media keeps playing him up like a fucking darling. WHY?!

And sorry Chrispy, but if nobody's been to New Jersey for vacation by now, they're just not gonna go. Who the fuck goes to New Jersey for getaways anyway aside from ancient casino addicted octogenarians and gangsters?

by Anonymousreply 3907/28/2013

I hate them too, OP. Couldn't the money spent on these have been put to better use?

by Anonymousreply 106/19/2013

Yeah R1, like helping to build homes for people who lost theirs? HA!! Fat chance, chump!

by Anonymousreply 206/19/2013

Couldn't agree more. it is a really bad song and I am tired of hearing it. I can't imagine why anyone would want to vacation at the Jersey shore where you must pay to get onto the beach.

by Anonymousreply 306/19/2013

Why are all the national news programs pushing him for president so much? How will he ever get nominated by the right wing repukes? I know he's a gay hater but is he right wing enough for the deep south?

by Anonymousreply 406/19/2013

R4, he's from the East Coast; New York is on the East Coast; they don;t have to go very far to cover anything he's doing. Being from the East, he automatically is going to be superior in their minds to a hick from Louisiana or Wisconsin. Besides, he's fat.

by Anonymousreply 506/19/2013

What R5 said, and I say that as a long time New Yorker but originally from the south.

Anyone 'local' to the East Coast, particularly the cities, (Boston, New York, Philly and I'll add Chicago) is seen as somehow superior or at least more newsworthy to the New York-based national media.

There are many Democratic politicians, and likely even a few Republicans who are deserving of media hype... but there's disgusting-to-look-at, obnoxious, unworthy and ignorant Chris Christie on Letterman, Kimball, Fallon, Leno, etc. yucking it up.. There he is again getting the gushing Vaseline-lensed treatment by Diane Sawyer, or puppy dog eyes from Brian Williams or Scott Pelley.. It's tiresome and disgusting.

I wish that stupid Jersey sond would die a thousand deaths.

by Anonymousreply 606/19/2013

I live in NJ and I don't understand the love. We have a terrible unemployment rate thanks to him. He cancelled the tunnel project that would have brought jobs to the state (we're talking billions of dollars), forfeited $300 million in federal funds for education because the union backed the plan and kept another $300 million meant for assisting homeowners who couldn't meet their mortgages.

by Anonymousreply 706/19/2013

Agreed, but the state needs people to get to that godforsaken place and spend some money. That will help the natives get some much-needed revenue. Even without the damage from Sandy, NJ has a poor reputation!

by Anonymousreply 806/19/2013

Christie is making hay while the sun shines. He is in the news because he has crossed the aisle in an effort to capture the moderate vote ( both Repub and Dem)and crush the neo-fascist Tea Party types. This is fine until Jeb announces and the race is between Hillary and Jeb ( which it will be). Then Chris, Marco, Bobby, Paul, etc. will all be forgotten and the nation can settle down to a campaign totally based on Republicans bringing up Benghazi.

by Anonymousreply 906/19/2013

"New Jersey: Stronger Than the Stench From Snooki's Snatch!"

by Anonymousreply 1006/19/2013

I welcome those commercials since they put an end to those "Chris Christie:THE GOVERNOR" crapfests.

by Anonymousreply 1106/19/2013

Does he have any chance of losing another term?

by Anonymousreply 1206/19/2013

Those "Stronger Than the Storm" do have the distinct advantage of making New Jersey look very appealing, which isn't easy. It just shows that cameras can lie.

by Anonymousreply 1406/19/2013

by Anonymousreply 1506/19/2013

Christie could have set a great example by signing the gay marriage bill, but he didn't. He's a weak link.

by Anonymousreply 1606/19/2013

I can't hit the mute button fast enough when that commercial comes on! Enough Already! We know! The Jersey Shore is open! Maybe it would be a little (and I mean a little) more tolerable if they showed businesses and Jersey shore families instead of the Christies.

by Anonymousreply 1707/01/2013

I live in Suburban Philly and this ad is played 24/7. It's Anoying!!! I can't escape it. Even on Hulu it plays non-stop. How is this possible? Why would people from the area go to New Jersey to Vacation? We live here!!! We know the shore is open b/c we watch local news!!! I'm can't get this song out of my head... Ughhhh .. It was fine the first 100xs but now it's like the only ad on tv. Sometimes it's even played back to back. GO AWAY!!!

by Anonymousreply 1807/27/2013

When the commercials start my sister and I play the game...which visually disquieting Christie will be featured in this commercial?

Governor Sandwiches!

Wife Mary Pat! (who, by the way, looks like a long lost Kennedy)

Fug daughter!

Chubby son!

by Anonymousreply 1907/27/2013

Please post pics of the fat family.

by Anonymousreply 2007/27/2013

here they are R20

by Anonymousreply 2107/27/2013

I live in Toronto and I know of no one who has vacationed in NJ, yet the commercial is on all the time here.

by Anonymousreply 2207/28/2013

"Two large pizzas with everything, a double order of breadsticks, and a sausage calzone. Twenty minutes? Thanks."

by Anonymousreply 2307/28/2013

And NJ was obviously NOT 'stronger than the storm.' Sandy fucked NJ, but good. Entire towns gone. Houses owned by families for a century, gone. They would've been better off with 'I Get Knocked Down'. And keep The Lap Band Governor away.

Oh, and you know how they say the lap band doesn't work for everyone? He's one.

by Anonymousreply 2407/28/2013

A few things I noticed from the pictures of Christie and his herd:

1. They like to make the son stand in back so he will look smaller.

2. Christie must pull his pants up to his ribcage.

by Anonymousreply 2507/28/2013

How bad do you have to be that even the cast of the Jersey Shore don't get along with you?.

by Anonymousreply 2607/28/2013

This cartoon sums up his popularity.

by Anonymousreply 2707/28/2013

It will burn your eyes out:

by Anonymousreply 2807/28/2013

A lot of emotional eating going on with that family it looks like to me. And the governor looks the same. Has he lost any pounds with the lap band?

by Anonymousreply 2907/28/2013

I was just going to ask the same thing, R29.

by Anonymousreply 3007/28/2013

He looks as fat as ever.

by Anonymousreply 3107/28/2013
I live in Toronto and I know of no one who has vacationed in NJ, yet the commercial is on all the time here.

FWIW, when I was a kid my family used to spend a week down in the Wildwood/Cape May area every year, and I always noticed a lot of cars with Canadian plates - although they were mostly from Quebec not Ontario. (A number of restaurants/stores used to have signs in the windows about speaking French.)

by Anonymousreply 3207/28/2013

Guys, they're not actually tourism commercials. They're campaign commercials that he got the state to pay for.

by Anonymousreply 3307/28/2013

He's pulling a Rudy Guiliani.

by Anonymousreply 3407/28/2013

What the EVER present R33 said.

They're campaign commercials, which again speak to how incredibly corrupt, opportunistic and loathsome this fat son of a whore is.

He's using pubic/state money to run commercials keeping his fat ass on the tube and I'm absolutely shocked the DNC and Jersey Democratic Party hasn't brought him to court over it yet.

by Anonymousreply 3507/28/2013

Flame away, but if Christie were a democrat, I would vote for him. He is intelligent, willing to reach across party lines, and doesn't take himself seriously. And, he fights hard for what he believes in. Unfortunately, I find his beliefs to be repugnant. Other than that, I kind of like the guy.

by Anonymousreply 3607/28/2013

Having said that, the commercial is the reason I watch tv with the remote in my hand.

by Anonymousreply 3707/28/2013

r36 I'm sick to death of "he crosses the aisle" nonsense. He kissed Obama's ass, as well he should've, because Obama came to NJ with a great big bucket o' cash for him. Of COURSE you're gonna' play nice, you'd be a fool not to. Christie has hornswoggled his supporters, that man of the people crap really burns me up. He'll never play down South, even if he does decide to run for President. He's more than willing NOT to cross the aisle, as he stymies gay people's efforts to achieve marriage equality. And that lapband surgery, I don't believe that for a minute. I think it was for something entirely different. If he had said he was going in for the lapband, he'd have gotten all sorts of support, from people of ALL stripes. He's so full of himself, he couldn't bear to have the lieutenant governor stand in for him for a few days? What a putz. I hope he gets his comeuppance, and soon.

by Anonymousreply 3807/28/2013
He is intelligent, willing to reach across party lines, and doesn't take himself seriously.

But he really [italic]doesn't[/italic] reach across party lines.

The reason a number of things on his agenda became law is that the NJ legislature was taken over by centrist Dems like the Senate Speaker Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver after Christie won the election four years ago. In the process they shoved aside progressive people like Dick Cody, Louis Greenwald, Barbara Buono and Jon Cryan to get their agenda done.

If it weren't for the likes of Sweeney, Governor FatOne wouldn't be talking about reaching across the aisle.

And BTW, people like Cory Booker (aside from being a lousy city administrator, as I've said here on DL in the past) is not that much different from Sweeney and people like Essex County Exec Joe D.
