Airs tomorrow night. They've certainly been promoting it enough. Of course (as usual) it won't be live on the West Coast. I haven't heard that they're doing it twice (like "30 Rock" and "Will and Grace" did.)

Why can't it be live on the West Coast?
|by Anonymous||reply 2||06/18/2013|
It shoots in Los Angeles. It would go on at 7pm

Didn't even know about this (not really a fan of the show). I am interested, though, in the upcoming episode featuring the ladies from MTM. When does that air?

[quote]Why can't it be live on the West Coast?
Because Betty White is ninety two fucking years old and they would like to avoid her dropping dead on live TV from exhaustion to please you. OK?
|by Anonymous||reply 5||06/18/2013|
R5 True, but they could show it on the West Coast live at 7, then repeat it at 10.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||06/18/2013|
R1 Has anyone ever told you that you have a keen grasp of the obvious?
|by Anonymous||reply 7||06/18/2013|
The sad thing is that this quality show need not resort to these shenanigans to prove its prestigious cache. Besides, Betty has the recent SNL Emmy to prove she can still "do" live.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||06/18/2013|
I guess this show is what passes for comedy these days.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||06/18/2013|
R6, do you not know how time zones work?
|by Anonymous||reply 10||06/18/2013|
R10 What are you talking about? It's beeing taped at 7PM Pacific and broadcast at the same time to the Eastern Time Zone. They could just show the same thing they're showing on the East Coast at the same time (10/7) and then show the taped version at 10 (like they're going to do anyway.)
What don't YOU understand?

This kind of live TV without a wire scares me. I doubt I'll watch but if I do it will be with hands over my eyes.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||06/18/2013|
Was it my imagination, or did Betty White mumble her lines twice?
It looked like she just babbled something incoherent, but the other players all carried on as if they knew what she said.
Except for that, the show was smooth and I wouldn't have known it was "live."
|by Anonymous||reply 13||06/20/2013|
Yeah R13 I noticed that too, and I think at one point Georgia Engel actually said Betty's line to keep it going. And Shirley Jones was a little late on her last entrance. But overall it was pretty smooth.

During "The Golden Age of Radio" network shows were done live for the East Coast and live again for the West Coast. "Cleveland" should revive the tradition.

Watched this show for the first time - my sister had once recommended it - & was shocked at how truly awful it was.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||06/20/2013|
Was Shatner drunk or was he supposed to be like that?
|by Anonymous||reply 17||06/20/2013|
They did a "Taped Live" meaning no stops or editing.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||06/23/2013|
Yeah, it wasn't broadcast live. It was just taped as r18 has said. I think it's blatant false advertisizing.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||06/23/2013|
Where you been R17? Shatner is always "like that."

Sean Hayes was on Chelsea Lately this week - before the "live" episode aired. Since he's one of the producers of Hot In Cleveland, he said that he asked Betty White ahead of time if she wanted cue cards and she said no.
Makes me think back to how well she did on Saturday Night Live, even though it was obvious she was reading the cards most of the time.
