There was like five minutes worth of product placement for IHOP in "Man of Steel"

Now I kind of want to eat there.

Is the food there good?

by Anonymousreply 3206/15/2013

I sincerely hope the person creating all these new Superman threads tonight is getting paid handsomely for it!

by Anonymousreply 106/13/2013

The pancakes and French toast are all right I guess. Nothing special.

Not a fan of the omelets, or any of the lunch/dinner menu items.

by Anonymousreply 206/13/2013

Well, the term "flies" apply to both.

by Anonymousreply 306/13/2013

Can I take your order, Hon?

by Anonymousreply 406/13/2013

Way over-priced.

by Anonymousreply 506/14/2013

WHET hot IHOP waiter?

by Anonymousreply 606/14/2013

Canada doesn't have IHOP

by Anonymousreply 706/14/2013

It depends on where you are. Some IHOPs knock out some pretty good food. I used to live in the south, and ate at many great IHOPs. I moved back up the north several years ago,and we got an IHOP up here. It's awful. I don't know why there is a difference.

by Anonymousreply 806/14/2013

Superman ain't been hot since the 70's.

by Anonymousreply 906/14/2013

No, OP, the food is terrible.

And by most accounts, so is Man of Steel, so suck it.

by Anonymousreply 1006/14/2013

Very close to my opinion R2.

Like the french toast and pancakes.

Don't like the omelets(egg part not the fillings). They need to be cooked another way.

Grits, hashbrowns, sausage.... all gross. All 3 of these things are 5 times better at Huddle House

I do like the chicken, spinach crepe. I've ordered that more than once.

British Columbia has IHOPS, R7.

I do not often eat at IHOPS, but generally the food is of poor quality, the breakfast meats in particular, poorly cooked, and way too expensive for such small portions. There is no reason anyone should eat at one.

by Anonymousreply 1206/14/2013

It's IHOP, not IHOPS.

by Anonymousreply 1306/14/2013

They have the worst iced-tea, I swear.

But I love their French toast (the regular stuff... not the diabetes-inducing "stuffed" variety) with a side of two eggs scrambled. Or their "3 pancakes & 3 eggs" combo.

It's sometimes nice to be able to get breakfast at any time of the day there. And it's better than Denny's.

by Anonymousreply 1406/14/2013

R11, R14, Here's a copycat of their recipe for French Toast. Make sure you use the right kind of bread. There are also duplicate recipes for IHOP pancakes online.

by Anonymousreply 1506/14/2013

[quote] Make sure you use the right kind of bread.

The recipe does not specify any kind of bread.

by Anonymousreply 1606/14/2013

Because nothing is better for that Man of Steel physique of yours than a stack of pancakes drizzled with butter and syrup with a side of bacon or sausages.

You stupid, fat Americans pay inflated prices to see infantile films stuffed with commercials for products that are bad for you!

by Anonymousreply 1706/14/2013

R16, Similar online recipes recommend brioche or thick slice egg bread, Hawaiian bread, or Challah.

by Anonymousreply 1806/14/2013

IHOP does not use those breads in their French toast. So why would someone trying to replicate IHOP French toast use one of those breads?

by Anonymousreply 1906/14/2013

I love the stuffed French toast with strawberries on top.

by Anonymousreply 2006/14/2013

R19, Copycat recipes are either similar or an improvement. I'm sure IHOP has a specially made bread for their French Toast, not readily available to the public.

by Anonymousreply 2106/14/2013

R21, I think it's probably just store-bought white-bread.

by Anonymousreply 2206/14/2013

IHOP is nasty and everything tastes like it came out of a box frozen.

by Anonymousreply 2306/14/2013

I like their "French styled pancakes"

by Anonymousreply 2406/14/2013

R24, Do you mean Swedish pancakes, which are like crepes and are made with eggs and milk?

by Anonymousreply 2506/14/2013

Is there a difference between Country Griddle Cakes & pancakes?

by Anonymousreply 2606/14/2013

I didn't like Heath Ledger in his role as "Joker".

by Anonymousreply 2706/14/2013

They pee in the buttermilk pancakes, you know.

by Anonymousreply 2806/14/2013

R26, Yes there's a difference in the ingredients. Country griddle cakes includes instant cream of wheat.

by Anonymousreply 2906/14/2013

I go 4 times a year and always get the CINN-A-STACK® French Toast with no whipped cream and extra icing.

by Anonymousreply 3006/14/2013

No R25. They're basically crepes that are quarter-folded on a plate, and you'd get four of them so that the four crepes would form a circle. Then they'd put warm marmalade in the middle and dust the crepes with powdered sugar.

I just checked IHOP's online menu and they're not there. I don't know if they stopped offering it - I haven't been to an IHOP in years - or if it's something that's offered only in certain parts of the country.

by Anonymousreply 3106/15/2013

Trippy IHOP commercial from 1969. The portions are so small compared to what they serve now. And of course, the wife orders a salad.
