Is anyone tired of commercials playing before youtube videos?

Oh my god, I am SO tired of these commercials playing before youtube videos. It's so annoying. Why does everything have to be so commercial?

by Anonymousreply 3303/05/2015

Get adblock then.

by Anonymousreply 106/12/2013

Get Adblock Plus. It's a very simple browser add-on. I haven't seen a youtube commercial, pop-up, or banner ad in five years.

by Anonymousreply 206/12/2013

Firefox, adblocker, problem solved :)

by Anonymousreply 306/12/2013

I can't believe there are people who don't use adblock plus. How can you stand the internet without it?

by Anonymousreply 406/12/2013

I've looked at videos of commercials I wanted to see and before it WAS A COMMERCIAL!

by Anonymousreply 506/12/2013

How do you get adblock? Is it for sale somewhere?

by Anonymousreply 606/12/2013

How do you think sites like Youtube will do what they do without revenue ? Which means ads or charging you for access. There is no free lunch, someone has to pay for sites like that.... You can't ave it free forever.

by Anonymousreply 706/12/2013

The real problem is when they force you to sit through a 30 second ad to see a 15 second video.

Are they fucking serious with that?

There should be a law that the ad can be at MOST half the length of the video you're trying to watch. And I'm being really generous with that.

by Anonymousreply 806/12/2013

Adblock is news to me. Thanks guys.

Uh, geez, do you think YouTube is a non-profit that is supposed to bring you entertainment for free. Should they work for free? Next you'll be asking why TV shows need to have commercials in them. Why does TV have to be so commercial?

by Anonymousreply 1306/12/2013

Ha R12!

YouTube was commercial free for many many years. According to the "nothing is free" idiots in this thread, they should have gone out of business years ago, but they didn't. The problems started when YouTube was bought by Google.

by Anonymousreply 1606/12/2013

I don't understand why they show commercials that last over 15 seconds but I've some that show a running time of 2 minutes or more. Do they really think people are going to not click on the "continue to video" button and watch the whole ad?

by Anonymousreply 1706/12/2013

They were commercial-free in the beginning because they were new and acquiring users, you idiot. Facebook and Twitter were ad-free in the beginning too.

by Anonymousreply 1806/12/2013

R16 can't be more than 10 years least mentally.

For Apple Safari users:

by Anonymousreply 2106/13/2013

I find the ads annoying, but I don't understand the people who think everything on the web should be free and have no ads -- the people who bitch about paying $18 for Datalounge, bitch about news sites creating paywalls, etc. How is a site supposed to stay in business if there's no source of revenue?

by Anonymousreply 2206/13/2013

I know, r22.

People are greedy-stupid.

by Anonymousreply 2306/13/2013

What the fuck are you talking about? YouTube stayed in business for YEARS without ads. So did Facebook. Now they're all greedy and want to put ads on. That's why I only use Pinterest, Tumblr and Instragrams now. No adds.

by Anonymousreply 2406/14/2013

R24, please read through the thread before showing off how dumb you are, okay?

by Anonymousreply 2506/14/2013

"adds" ?

(eye roll)

by Anonymousreply 2606/14/2013

Trolldar R24 and watch him be bipolar in his responses to this thread.

by Anonymousreply 2706/14/2013

R25 Is it not true that YouTube ran perfectly fine before they started running ads?

by Anonymousreply 2806/14/2013

Shut the fuck up. If you don't like it, then stop watching, ya dumb fucking cocksucking whore.

Eat my ass. It's dirty.

by Anonymousreply 2906/14/2013

Well spotted R27. R24 is also the Man of Steel/Snowden troll. Time to kick his ass off DL?

by Anonymousreply 3006/14/2013

[quote]The problems started when YouTube was bought by Google.

Yep, and they keep trying to turn it into shit with their horrendous search engine and boring design "improvements" that they force upon you. SPAM videos galore that they no longer remove. Trying to get users use their real names.

And the copyright nazis. Why is it such a big deal if I want to see a celebrity interview from the 2002 Tonight show? Interviews from Rosie O' Donnel's old show? People who own those shows need to calm down or make those episodes available themselves.

by Anonymousreply 3106/14/2013

Here's the deal. One of the biggest reasons YouTube had to sell ads is because so many of the videos contained copyrighted material (i.e. music, TV shows, trailers, movie clips, etc.) Those companies in the entertainment industry basically said to YouTube, "hey, you're showing/broadcasting our copyrighted material without a license." So, YouTube entered into agreements with the major players, giving them big money advances for the right to use their stuff. I know this because I work for a music company and we have one of these deals with them.

by Anonymousreply 3206/14/2013

I'm not only tired of youtube commercials but television too. Radio commercial is understandable because the radio is free. We pay a lot of money for basic cable and some of the commercial interruptions are 7 minutes. I flip channels like most viewers and sometimes forget what i was even watching. With all the free movies we can rent from the library we don't even need cable anymore.
