How many people are on this site: The official poll

Take the poll and be counted:

by Anonymousreply 2306/17/2013

Woah, what the heck happened to that first option? I guess the polling software doesn't like commas?

by Anonymousreply 106/12/2013

... or apostrophes?

by Anonymousreply 206/12/2013

Someone does this every few months and there might be around 100 people who take the poll.

by Anonymousreply 306/12/2013

And, R3, I assume many people probably take it twice (or more)... from different computers, or by clearing cookies. I imagine the number is always larger than the actual count of people who respond. And THAT number is always smaller than the total number of people here.

It's the very definition of an "unscientific poll".

I don't visit DL often anymore, but when I do come here I'm more of a lurker and reader nowadays. I use to post and come to DL very often, but over the past several months, I come here once a week at most.

I didn't even renew my membership this year, and I've been an active member of DL since the mid-2000's

by Anonymousreply 506/12/2013

Just had to post this snapshot of the results (only 27 people responding so far) just because the percentages were... interesting:

• Yes, but I only reply and read -- 48.148148148148145%

• Yes, but I only lurk and don't post -- 14.814814814814813%

They're both repetitions of 148148148148, just starting in a different place. How cool, mathematically, is that?

by Anonymousreply 606/12/2013

I didn't answer the poll the way I would have liked to. I am a paying member for 4 months and I still can't get a thread started. POUT>

by Anonymousreply 706/12/2013

If the numbers are as low as you say, then why the hell is there a premium time when only members can post? Can anyone answer that please?

by Anonymousreply 806/12/2013

This poll will be deleted in 3,2,1...

The webmaster does not like any polls that reveal site demographics that advertisers might read.

by Anonymousreply 906/12/2013

There have many plenty of demographic polls that have gotten hundreds of responses without being deleted.

by Anonymousreply 1006/12/2013

Up to 92 now...

by Anonymousreply 1106/12/2013

Most people don't participate in polls. If there is one they feel strongly enough, than the polls will head up to over 300 and I think we've had a couple that went over 500 and even a thousand although I think it took awhile.

How about an option for those who only come here to post tiresome moans about how DL isn't what it was (when they had a brief period of being considered funny and popular). They don't often bother with DL, but they are mysteriously always here when threads such as this are started. Lady luck must be their best friend.

by Anonymousreply 1306/12/2013

98 replies now only 27 pay. Pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 1406/12/2013

I pay, but I selected the second option as I very rarely start threads.

by Anonymousreply 1506/12/2013

115 now... the after-work people are apparently logging in

by Anonymousreply 1606/12/2013

Since I skip most poll threads, I agree that the results will mean very little.

Prime Time doesn't work the way they claim. It seems to kick on after awards show threads have had their run, and other events that drive up the traffic, I assume to average out the traffic costs. It also seems to kick in on holiday weekends when the babysitter is away, to cut down on the troll threads in his absence.

So with 153 total responses 12 hrs. after OP's post, could we say that Primetime has been good for Datalounge, or is there some other conclusion to be drawn?

by Anonymousreply 1906/12/2013

175, wow, that's higher than most poll results go. I've resisted responding multiple times... I wonder if others are going out of their way to respond multiple times (from different PCs)

Up to 192 now

by Anonymousreply 2106/13/2013

Wow, over 200.

by Anonymousreply 2206/17/2013

Why would you post multiple times to this poll? What would be the point?
