Best Show On TV

What is the best show on TV?

by Anonymousreply 8407/21/2013

All excellent choices, OP. I was proud to cast my vote for Girls in honor of Miss Datalounge, Lena Dunham.

by Anonymousreply 106/09/2013

The people who didn't vote for Breaking Bad have never watched it.

by Anonymousreply 206/09/2013

Toss-up between Breaking Bad and Homeland. Nothing else comes close, although a couple of the others are entertaining.

by Anonymousreply 306/09/2013

I voted Arrested Development even though I'm not sure it counts as "on TV". It was difficult to choose between it, Luoie and Parks and Rec though.

by Anonymousreply 406/09/2013

Fuckin' figures that Mad Men bullshit would be winning.

Such sheeple.

Breaking Bad wipes the floor with Mad Men.

by Anonymousreply 506/09/2013

Whoever chose "Girls" should be shot in the face.

by Anonymousreply 606/09/2013

So The Americans sucks?

by Anonymousreply 706/09/2013

by Anonymousreply 806/09/2013

Mad Men is like pleather. Nice to look at but zero depth. Laughable that it's on the list.

Cute OP.

by Anonymousreply 906/09/2013

Louie should have more votes.

Is Homeland really that good? What's so great about it? I'm looking or a good series to watch, but for some reason I have very little interest in Homeland. But if someone can give a convincing argument, ill check it out.

by Anonymousreply 1006/09/2013

The past couple of episodes of GOT have blown away the competition

by Anonymousreply 1106/09/2013

Mistresses is heating up summer 13

by Anonymousreply 1206/09/2013

Mad Men over Game of Thrones - you silly queens. Oh, and r2, I have seen Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad is very good but it ain't no fucking Game of Thrones. There has never been anything on TV like GoT. Years from now, it will be more remembered than Breaking Bad. Deal with it!

by Anonymousreply 1306/09/2013

R10, Homeland is worth watching for the acting alone, but it also has seriously good writing and tells an intriguing story.

I got so caught up in it I couldn't believe I was watching (and enjoying) Mandy Patinkin. I've always hated him, but he's very good and not a hambone in this.

by Anonymousreply 1406/09/2013

Homeland is sooo overrated, especially Claire Danes' performance. I enjoy the show but it does not deserve all those Emmys over shows that are, quite frankly, more superior.

by Anonymousreply 1506/09/2013

Seinfeld reruns.

by Anonymousreply 1606/09/2013

Please tell us all about those "more superior" shows, R15.

by Anonymousreply 1706/09/2013

[quote] There has never been anything on TV like GoT. Years from now, it will be more remembered than Breaking Bad.

I don't think so. Breaking Bad has been excellent through every season, whereas the source material for GOT plummets after book three. Sadly, GOT is likely to be remembered as yet another show that started out amazing and then went to shit.

by Anonymousreply 1806/09/2013

Every other TV show listed in the poll r17. Take your pick.

by Anonymousreply 1906/09/2013

You're being silly again, R15. Never mind.

by Anonymousreply 2006/09/2013

What about "The Middle," in spite of that bitch Patty Heaton?

by Anonymousreply 2106/09/2013

American Horror Story, especially the first season. I like The Walking Dead, but AHS is better.

by Anonymousreply 2206/09/2013

Oh, I should have put AHS instead of The Americans.

by Anonymousreply 2306/09/2013

I enjoy both Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, but GOT has far more staying power; it will be one of the great events of television history.

Mad Men has gradually come to bore me, I can't say why; it was really exciting at first. But the premise comes to tire.

by Anonymousreply 2406/09/2013

You really can't go wrong with anything on that list.

by Anonymousreply 2506/09/2013

DL really needs to layout their polls better. I can't even tell who won or who's in second place. Maybe don't indent the numbers and have a visual color bar with the percentages.

by Anonymousreply 2606/10/2013

Homeland has the WORST opening.

by Anonymousreply 2706/11/2013

The big banging theories

by Anonymousreply 2806/15/2013

I can't believe Louie has the least votes.

by Anonymousreply 2906/15/2013

I Hope GOT gets awards and they don't dismiss it because it is fantasy. The stories of political intrigue are more captivating and even realistic than Homeland. Homeland's story went to hell when they made it a Romeo and Juliet story. In GOT, Carrie would have been killed.

by Anonymousreply 3006/15/2013

I would have voted Hannibal but it wasn't an option. I went with Game of Thrones.

by Anonymousreply 3106/15/2013

I like Big Bang Theory. The world needs humor.

by Anonymousreply 3206/15/2013

by Anonymousreply 3306/15/2013

"Girls", seriously? It's like a very loooong bad student film. The acting is atrocious and the characters are so revolting.

The person whose idea it was to give such responsibility to someone as clueless and talent-free as Lens Dungham, needs to beat to a pulp, then urinated on!

by Anonymousreply 3406/15/2013

Claire Danes' spastic motions were expertly lampooned on SNL by Anne Hathaway. Mandy Pandy comes across as an unlikeable cunt. It's like a fourth rate version of 24. I wonder how faithful it is compared to the original Israeli series that it's based on....

Mad Men has become a bad soap opera. Pete smoking pot, Peggy wanting to fuck Stan to get rid of a rat and Don smoking out of a hooka is beyond jumping the shark. It's become As The Young and Beautiful of Our Lives Visit General Hospital!

Game of Thrones so far they've done great adaptations of the books that are hard for a lot of people to wade through. If they can turn the rest of the books into something watchable then they will have outdone themselves.

by Anonymousreply 3506/15/2013

[quote] Peggy wanting to fuck Stan to get rid of a rat

I think you're watching the show wrong. Or

by Anonymousreply 3606/15/2013

Newsroom is awesome.

Homeland has way too many plot holes -- nobody saw Damien Lewis texting during the terrorist takedown scene? He wouldn't even be allowed to bring a phone into that room. And, after he was "discovered," the CIA, NSA ect never checked his phone records? Mandy Patkin's character just happened to find a thumbdrive or flash card in a bag that the CIA or the likes thereof already processed for evidence? A bipolar CIA agent? Please, CSI has better writing.

by Anonymousreply 3706/15/2013

R36 No I think you are watching the wrong show. Peggy was willing to give Stan some if he came over and solved her rat problem. It just so happened that Stan had already fucked a fine lady who was sleeping right next to him! End of phone call, Peggy had to solve the problem without Stan.

by Anonymousreply 3806/15/2013

The Americans is excellent, I'm glad it's one of the choices. Arrested Development in its prime was one of the all-time classics. The Netflix eps are great but not as good as my current favorite comedy, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. 30 Rock is another of my favorite comedies, but it just ended. I like Parks and Rec but not nearly as much as the above comedies. I also love Breaking Bad, American Horror Story, and Louie. Tough poll, but in the end I went with AD because I tend to favor comedy over drama.

by Anonymousreply 3906/15/2013

R38, you're an idiot. Peggy was obviously sweet talking Stan. She had no intention of fucking him or even fully suggesting she would.

by Anonymousreply 4006/15/2013

Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Starting with the upcoming episode: From My Lips To Your Fears--Birth of my Progeninny.

by Anonymousreply 4106/15/2013

30 Rock

by Anonymousreply 4206/15/2013

227 duh. followed closely by Charles in Charge.

by Anonymousreply 4306/15/2013

Person of Interest

by Anonymousreply 4406/15/2013

227! Lol I forgot about that show.

by Anonymousreply 4506/15/2013

Sons of Anarchy

by Anonymousreply 4606/15/2013

R40 You're not only an idiot BUT a clueless and oblivious cunt. Pay attention to the character you're talking about instead of creating your own demented fantasy. Peggy is not above screwing her co-workers.Peggy fucked Pete. She fucked Duck too.She would have fucked Stan to have gotten rid of the rat. Stop sewing your caftan when watching and start paying attention.

by Anonymousreply 4706/16/2013

Another vote for Veep.

by Anonymousreply 4806/16/2013

Banshee, bitches.

by Anonymousreply 4906/16/2013

Now someone do a poll for "Trashiest Show On TV."

by Anonymousreply 5006/16/2013

R47, um, you're the one who sounds like they'd be sewing a caftan. Yikes! Maybe one out of human skin, even. Dial down the crazy, ok?

by Anonymousreply 5106/16/2013

prison break

by Anonymousreply 5206/17/2013

Is the audience for game of thrones the adults who only read children's books if they read at all like harry potter garbage? Are they all mentally retarded, seriously, stunted in some way or another? How could any adult with an above room temperature IQ enjoy that crap?

by Anonymousreply 5306/17/2013

Anyone watching Longmire?

by Anonymousreply 5406/17/2013

R53, I'm not a GoT fan (couldn't get into it), but your post makes no sense. It's probably the most adult show on TV.

by Anonymousreply 5506/17/2013

R54 No. The cast looks OK but it seems like I've seen this show before a million other ones right?

by Anonymousreply 5606/17/2013

R56. The cast is good. It took me a few episodes to get into, but hooked now. Characters are complex and lots of unexpected turns.

by Anonymousreply 5706/17/2013

Had to go with Breaking Bad because GoT is pallid after reading the books.

by Anonymousreply 5806/17/2013

Game of Thrones is really well done. I agree with the posters who noted that this will be looked at as a great achievement in television history.

For my money, The Good Wife was the other best drama on TV this year.

Modern Family and The Middle are the best comedies.

by Anonymousreply 5906/17/2013

My fav is The Good Wife.

by Anonymousreply 6006/17/2013

Breaking Bad is one of my favorite shows ever. I went through some of the seasons so fast. Does anyone like Scandal?

by Anonymousreply 6106/17/2013

Under the Dome.

by Anonymousreply 6206/27/2013

My vote - Orphan Black.

I'm am enjoying a few different shows this year, but that debut was such a smart and involving surprise.

by Anonymousreply 6306/27/2013

by Anonymousreply 6406/28/2013

The Venture Brothers

by Anonymousreply 6506/28/2013

Homeland fell apart in its second season... just crumbled to pieces. It turned into the Brody and Carrie love show.

Veep is one of the best shows.

The Good Wife has also faltered since season 1 -- now it's just a middle brow case of the week show.

by Anonymousreply 6606/28/2013

I'm with R44. Person of Interest is brilliant. I am so glad that they are dipping into the back stories of the two main characters, whilst giving us a stand-alone episode each week. Jim Caviezel is dead sexy even though he is a devout catholic and holds fundy notions.

by Anonymousreply 6706/28/2013

From US: Homeland and American Horror Story (mainly because J Lange)

by Anonymousreply 6806/28/2013

Mother, May i sleep with danger.

by Anonymousreply 6906/28/2013

How about Suits?

by Anonymousreply 7006/28/2013

Now? Breaking Bad without a doubt. The show that slipped the most between seasons is certainly Homeland. A good intrigue show reduced to a faux romance.

by Anonymousreply 7106/28/2013

Adventure Time

by Anonymousreply 7206/28/2013

Longmire is cool.

by Anonymousreply 7306/28/2013

Definitely Breaking Bad for me. I loved Mad Men, but it's grown stale. Weiner conceived at as a 5 year show and the fact it's in it's sixth year says a lot. The first season of Homeland was excellent, the second season? Meh. I do love GoT, but Breaking Bad wins for me because it's not fantasy, which isn't usually my thing.

As for comedies, I SO want to like Veep. But it's just the same joke, over and over. Louie is my favorite for comedy, though I haven't seen the new AD yet.

by Anonymousreply 7406/28/2013

Life with La Toya

by Anonymousreply 7507/05/2013

Melrose Place

by Anonymousreply 7607/06/2013

by Anonymousreply 7707/07/2013

RAY DONOVAN-it's THE SOPRANOS with Hollywood scumbags instead of goombahs.

by Anonymousreply 7807/07/2013

Thank you, poster who mentioned Suits! I would think a lot of gay guys would love it; the 2 male leads are hot, hot, hot. I'm a straight chick but that Megan Markle (as the paralegal) is hot.

Oh, yes (I GUESS I'm straight???), and on Homeland - to the poster who wondered, why to watch it - the plots are great, scary, violent - yet interesting, and once again:

HOT TO DEATH actress: Morena Baccarin!

And the character of the daughter is to hate-watch over!

by Anonymousreply 7907/07/2013

r79 = Pam Shriver, heterosexualist.

by Anonymousreply 8007/07/2013

Why wasn't Gigolos an option?

by Anonymousreply 8107/07/2013

Im really liking Crossing Lines. Sundays at 10 on the Peacock

by Anonymousreply 8207/12/2013

King of Queens. Remini is a hoot.

by Anonymousreply 8307/21/2013

Longmire and Burn notice. Both great shows!
