I actually really loved this show (Amy Jo Johnson rocks!), but it's so weird that JJ Abrams pulled that time travel crap in the last season. Must he employ time travel in EVERYTHING he does???

Amy Jo does rock.

[quote]Amy Jo does rock.
It's a shame she never made it big. She does constantly work, though, so that's cool.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||06/07/2013|
Why did Amy Jo leave Felicity in the first place?
|by Anonymous||reply 5||06/07/2013|
R5, her mom was sick and eventually died from cancer. She left for that. She did come back at the end, though.

[quote]Amy Jo Johnson, an original series regular, left the show early in the third season for personal reasons relating to a death in her family. However, she later reprised the role of Julie during the show's final season.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||06/07/2013|
As someone who missed the last season, what time travel stuff happened?
|by Anonymous||reply 9||06/07/2013|
R9, here you go:
|by Anonymous||reply 10||06/07/2013|
I loved the show, but the last season was confusing.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||06/07/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 12||06/07/2013|
Amy Jo Johnson has aged beautifully. She's always looked a ecade younger than she really is.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||06/07/2013|
It's been a long time since I've seen the show: I couldn't tell the difference between Jennifer Garner and Amy Jo Whatshername, or their characters.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||06/07/2013|
Well, Jennifer Garner was in 3 episodes. Amy Jo was in 50.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||06/07/2013|
Jennifer was Noel's classical musician girlfriend. Amy Jo played Julie, who played the guitar while she wasn't trying to play Ben (or look for her birth mother).
|by Anonymous||reply 16||06/07/2013|
They did look very similar, though.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||06/07/2013|
Garner is about 6 inches taller.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||06/07/2013|
Man, late 90s fashion was terrible:
|by Anonymous||reply 19||06/07/2013|
But Amy Jo could work the bare midriff.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||06/07/2013|
She still has a rockin body. Must be all of those years as a gymnast.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||06/07/2013|
Felicity was the show that made me and probably a lot of other people during that time and at that age want to move to New York.
The final season was completely jacked up. Besides the fact that the entire thing was shown to be a dream it turns out it actually wasn't a dream at all but they barely managed to explain it because the scenes proving that it was real were cut from the finale.
The extras explain that Felicity learns it wasn't a dream because in a cut scene she manages to warn Elena who died in the original timeline to go to Duke instead of Columbia. So years later at Noel's wedding when the audience sees Elena at the wedding Felicity also speaks with her and learns that Felicity's actions in the new timeline caused Elena to go to Duke instead of Columbia thus preventing her death and proving the time shift actually did happen.
At that time a lot of fans took the final scene as a cast party because everyone assumed the entire season never really happened at all when it actually did happen. So stupid.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||06/07/2013|
R21 - Keri still has a rocking body too.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||06/07/2013|
I always liked when Julie would perform on Felicity. She has a soothing voice.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||06/08/2013|
I thought I remembered reading an interview with Amy Jo Johnson where she stated that her personal issues weren't the reason she left the show. I think she alluded to the fact that she had disagreements with the Producers/Writers over the direction of her character, (I don't remember the show that well, but didn't her character become depressed or suicidal?). I think in that interview, she also hinted that they just used her personal problems as justification to write her off the show.
Anyone else read that or remember it?
|by Anonymous||reply 25||06/08/2013|
R25, no, Amy Jo has said several times that it was her mother's cancer. She had uterine cancer when Amy Jo started Felicty and passed away during her run on the show. She left, and the producers told her she could come back anytime she wanted, and she returned in the final season.
JJ Abrams also put her in his What About Brian show.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||06/08/2013|
My recollection of what happened is that they had a certain number of episodes written and planned, culminating in the series finale, and then ABC asked them for a few more. You can see that the plot essentially comes to an end before the time travel episodes start. I guess they figured the show was ending, why not do something outrageous.
I actually liked it because the last season was pretty dull up to that point -- the show had pretty much run out of ideas -- and it felt like going back and seeing how things might have turned out differently gave the season more of a purpose.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||06/08/2013|
I thought they just got rid of Amy Jo because her character was so unlikeable.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||06/08/2013|
Julie wasn't unlikeable - no more so than any of the other characters,
|by Anonymous||reply 29||06/08/2013|
I couldn't believe the shit she went though finding her birth mother who denied she was her mother and was in fact still married to her birth father.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||06/08/2013|
Amy Jo at the Tiger Eyes premiere.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||06/08/2013|
She looks exactly the same WTF
|by Anonymous||reply 32||06/08/2013|
Keri or Amy Jo? Who is the better actress?
|by Anonymous||reply 33||06/11/2013|
Amy Jo fucked every guy in the cast and showed Scott Speedman how much pleasure his ass could give him. Love that dirty bitch.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||06/11/2013|
R18, we weren't talking about their similar body type, we were talking about their faces. Johnson and Garner had very similar looking faces. Hilary Swank could easily have played their fugly triplet.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||06/11/2013|
Amy Jo was a better actress then. Keri probably is now.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||06/12/2013|
I know I'm alone in this, but all anyone ever talks about with JJ Abrams is what a brilliant producer and director he is. I agree, but I'm more taken with the fact I think he's fucking hot. Anytime I see pics of him, that curly black hair just drives me wild. Bet he has a nice, hairy ass and would make a really HOT bottom. Any JJ gay stories? I'm sure he's hopelessly straight but I'd still like to know if he's ever played around with guys.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||06/12/2013|
I loved the show too, but that last season was weird! I loved Amanda Foreman as the goth bitch roommate. JJ must love her, he puts her in almost everything he does. She even has a tiny part in the new Star Trek. Love Keri, too.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||06/13/2013|
Amanda was recently in Parenthood as a mother of a child with Asperger's.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||06/13/2013|
I always loved the intro for seasons 1 and 2. I think Amy Jo Johnson sang them, actually.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||06/13/2013|
JJ has a tendency of reusing a lot of the actors he works with. More than a handful of the Felicity cast ended up on Alias, a show he says was conceived out of a story line he wanted to do for Felicity.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||06/14/2013|
He does reuse a lot of Felicity actors:
Megan Foreman, Jennifer Garner and Greg Grunber are all in Alias
Amy Jo Johnson was in What About Brian
Greg Grungerb was in Lost
Keri Russel was in Mission Impossible 3
|by Anonymous||reply 42||06/14/2013|
Kevin Weisman and Robert Benedict were also on Felicity and Alias.
Terry O'Quinn was on Alias and then on Lost.
Trivia... apparently Greg Grunberg and Abrhams have been friends since Kindergarten.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||06/14/2013|
What happened to Sally?
|by Anonymous||reply 44||06/14/2013|
I adored Amanda Foreman in Felicity, too. She was hilarious.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||06/14/2013|
Am I the only who disliked the way Sean became so prominent during the last season of Felicity? I thought Sean worked better as a supporting character, not front and center. It didn't help that Sean and Megan were not a convincing couple to me.
Oh, r44 I also wonder what happened to Sally! Seriously.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||06/15/2013|
Yeah, there was definitely too much Sean at the end.I actually think that once Julie left, the focus of the show got really scattered and it kind of lost touch with the original aim of the show.
Also, Noel was the most annoying unlikeable creature ever by the end of the series.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||06/15/2013|
Because he`s really John Titor.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||06/15/2013|
R48 - Sean was the weakest link.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||06/15/2013|
Both of Noel's girlfriends grew up to be a spy.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||06/16/2013|
Keri is a lot better playing a spy than Jennifer ever was.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||06/16/2013|
Was there any in-fighting on the show?
|by Anonymous||reply 52||07/26/2013|
R52, if there was, I doubt it involved Keri. She's just too nice. I always wondered why Amanda Foreman was basically cut out of most of season 4.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||07/26/2013|
Good question R53. Amanda is ten years older than Keri. She was 32 when the show started. Maybe she had a baby then.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||07/26/2013|
So does anyone here know of any on set Felicity drama or gossip?
|by Anonymous||reply 55||07/27/2013|
Love this scene with Julie (Amy Jo) and the cheerleaders.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||07/27/2013|
Is this show anything like Alias, Person of Interest, Fringe, Lost? I always thought it was a sappy, romantic college girl comedy (not to say his other shows are sappy). It's hard for me to figure out what this is about. Can someone describe? Even IMDB doesn't shed light.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||07/27/2013|
I have to say Amy Jo is very sexy both then and now. She definitely has that 'x factor.'
|by Anonymous||reply 58||07/27/2013|
R57 - Felicity is a sheltered California high school graduate. On a whim, she follows a boy (Ben) to New York and NYU. During he first season, she dates her RA Noel, but still has feelings for Ben. Meanwhile, her friend Julie starts dating Ben.
It gets goofy in the final season when JJ adds time travel to the story. Seriously!
The first two seasons are quite good. The third starts to stray.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||07/27/2013|
Thank you r59. I'm researching this show and found the beautiful, amazing song that Amy Jo wrote for the show. Tearing up listening to it (I know, Mary!)
|by Anonymous||reply 60||07/27/2013|
R60, she wrote that song for her mom who was suffering from cancer. She died, and that's why Amy Jo took a break from the show.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||07/27/2013|
Amy Jo was very cute as the Pink Power Ranger, too!
|by Anonymous||reply 62||07/27/2013|
Amy Jo seems really sweet.
|by Anonymous||reply 63||07/27/2013|
There was something so authentic and special about this show. Can't put my finger on it.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||07/27/2013|
R64, probably all of the magic and time traveling.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||07/27/2013|
R65 - There's no time travel or magic till season 4.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||07/27/2013|
Sean was such a useless character. His condiment invention was completely stupid.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||07/31/2013|
I agree. Sean took time away from the characters I cared about. And his loft was ridiculous.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||07/31/2013|
I always wondered if Felicity and Sally were secret girlfriends.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||08/01/2013|
Too much age distance, R69.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||08/01/2013|
Keri Russell and Natalie Portman have the same body type.
|by Anonymous||reply 71||08/15/2013|
