London Terrace - Vintage Photos

Does anyone here live there?

by Anonymousreply 1705/27/2013

Sorry, page not found.

by Anonymousreply 105/25/2013

OP here. Second try. BTW, if we still had "Preview" I would have known the link didn't work.

by Anonymousreply 205/25/2013

Residents have included Christine Quinn, Chelsea Clinton, Tim Gunn, Susan Sontag, and Annie Liebovitz.

I've been an S&M bottom there. Really.

by Anonymousreply 405/25/2013

I've bitch-fucked a couple of dudes in that building. Good times...

by Anonymousreply 505/25/2013

What's the difference between fucking and bitch-fucking, R5?

by Anonymousreply 605/25/2013

I moved in 4 years ago and have lived here since.

by Anonymousreply 705/25/2013

r7, I remember visiting a relative there thirty years ago. Each apartment had a wall phone in the kitchen. Tenants could dial each other and reach shops. Does your apartment still have one?

by Anonymousreply 805/26/2013

I have been in the Sontag unit. Friends from Toronto sublet it for a few years. The wrap-around outdoor space alone made it to die for.

Second linky also stinky.

by Anonymousreply 1005/26/2013

There are phones that are linked to the doormen but I think you can call other apartments too. You can call the office on that phone.

I don't know if this is a sensationalist urban legend but I've heard that by the early 90s, during the apex of the AIDS epidemic, over a quarter of the residents living at London Terrace were dead and that some of the older, straight residents complained that the building was starting to resemble a hospice center.

@ link

I hear that was Zill Jarin organizing the older residents, R12.

by Anonymousreply 1405/26/2013

The article at the second link describes it as a massive single-family home. So, one unit or multiples?

by Anonymousreply 1505/26/2013

R15 The second part of the page you are referring to is a Hitlerian bunker on 12th and Greenwich in the Village. The first part is London Terrace. You get a C- in reading comprehension.

So THAT'S what it's called. I've always wondered on visits to NYC. Can anyone tell me what is inside those pergolas or whatever-the-fuck you call them on the roof? Are they just empty pigeon roosts?

For that matter what is any those temple-like rooftop structures that a lot of old Manhattan buildings, such as the Sam Remo, have? Do residents use them for picnics, pagan rites, or what?
