Capiche?

by Anonymousreply 105/23/2013

R1, of course it's subjective, gramps. Feel free to post your own list.

[quote]of course it's subjective, gramps. Feel free to post your own list.

In which case you should have said "My top ten films of the 2000s.

Otherwise it's a very good list, though I'd leave off Brokeback Mountain from a top ten list encompassing an entire decade.

by Anonymousreply 1305/23/2013

I think might love OP. That said, my top ten are:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Mulholland Drive (my fave)

Searching for Columbine

Brokeback Mountain

The Royal Tenenbaums (my second fave)

The Lives of Others -- love, love, love this film.

The Dark Knight

The Perks of Being a Wallflower (I realize this is 2010-20 material, but I just loved it and included it...)

by Anonymousreply 1505/23/2013

I was super close to putting Adaptation, but I already had Eternal Sunshine and felt conficted about putting Kauffman on there twice. Not sure why.

R15, Perks is a near-perfect film. Such an emotionally stimulating movie. A true experience. It had such a surprising effect on me. It will be on my 2010s list and honestly, probably on my all-time list.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

A History of Violence

Brokeback Mountain

The Lives of Others

Black Book

The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford

by Anonymousreply 2805/23/2013

OP? You and I aren't ever going to the movies together.

by Anonymousreply 2905/23/2013

Gawd, you Brokeback Mountain queens! I am shocked people responded to this slap dash melodrama! The first have is ok, but when the broads and the terrible wigs and acting take over, it's a campfest! You just CAN quit it!

I think Vera Drake is the most remarkable movie on anyone's list so far, among the ones I've seen.

by Anonymousreply 3005/23/2013

I'm glad my fellow DL'ers share my love for

Ghost World

Mulholland Drive

Junebug

Royal Tenenbaums

Far From Heaven

Kill Bill

Y tu Mama Tambien

You Can Count on Me

And I'd add Magnolia and Moulin Rouge.

Very interesting list, OP, except for Irreversible. I couldn't handle that one.

by Anonymousreply 3105/24/2013

Heck, I can see some y'all don't know what the 2000s are.

by Anonymousreply 3205/24/2013

Honestly, I like OP's list.

by Anonymousreply 3305/24/2013

No Country For Old Men was terribly overrated. Y Tu Mama Tambien was a great movie and I also thought Eternal Sunshine of The spotless Mind was a cool movie.

Tropic Thunder

by Anonymousreply 3405/24/2013

Children of Men

Donnie Darko

Lord of the Rings (all three)

Up

Stardust

Speed Racer

by Anonymousreply 3505/24/2013

Wow, I thought Moon was 2010... guess it was 2009. I want to add that to my list too.

And I think I want to emphasize how great "Stardust" was. Totally under-appreciated gem of a movie.

by Anonymousreply 3605/24/2013

Oh, I'd add Moon to my list, too. So underrated, and Sam Rockwell should have gotten an Oscar nomination.

Also great:

Spirited Away

Little Miss Sunshine

Elephant

Juno

Amelie

The Incredibles

Inglorious Basterds

And for fun, Wet Hot American Summer.

by Anonymousreply 3705/24/2013

May I nominate the last ten minutes of Before Sunset (not crazy about the rest of it but, man, they nailed the ending!)

by Anonymousreply 3805/24/2013

You Can Count on Me

Election (or was that 1999?)

Doubt

Milk

Tropic Thunder

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

I want to add "Donnie Darko," though I don't think it's very good on a technical level

American Psycho

14. The Life of Others

15. Requiem for A Dream

"Election" was in 1999, according to imdb. I loved that movie too.

by Anonymousreply 4305/24/2013

I can't believe there is so much love here for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Massively overrated film.

by Anonymousreply 4405/24/2013

MY OPINON IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!!11

by Anonymousreply 4505/24/2013

ESotSM isn't over-rated. It's excellent.

I'm actually sad that "Stardust" isn't getting more love. Now THAT is a massively UNDERRATED film.
