MI Right-To-Lifer: Getting Raped Is Like Your Home Being Flooded – Buy Insurance For That

Michigan conservative group Right to Life president Barbara Listing made jaws drop on Wednesday when she made a mind-numbing and supremely ignorant comment – especially for a woman – comparing getting raped to being in a car accident or having your home flooded, telling reporters at a press conference;

“Nobody plans to have an accident in a car accident, nobody plans to have their homes flooded, and you have to buy extra insurance for those, too…”

The comment was made at a Board of Canvassers meeting as Right to Life of Michigan was gearing up for a petition drive to ban health insurance companies from covering abortion procedures, even in cases of rape or incest. The proposed initiative would instead make the coverage an optional rider. It’s fairly obvious that low-income and poor families and woman would be the hardest hit.

The Board of Canvassers meeting was also attended by dozens of protesters from Planned Parenthood along with representatives from Progress Michigan who vigorously oppose the proposed erosion of woman’s rights.

Progress Michigan spokeswoman Jessica Tramontana ripped Listing’s comment, and has demanded an apology, saying;

“This is appalling, rape is not anywhere near in the field of a flood, or a car accident because rape is not an accident. Nobody can anticipate being the victim of a crime.”

If Right to Life collects at least 258,088 valid signatures, the legislature does not need Michigan Governor Rick Snyder’s signature to make it law. The governor has not yet commented on the story.

All Republicans should continue to speak out like this about rape.

I agree with R1. We need to hear more from Republicans about this important conservative issue.

All of their candidates in 2014 need to be asked about rape, on the record.

[quote]gearing up for a petition drive to ban health insurance companies from covering abortion procedures,

Just so we are clear. When Democrats try to regulate how a private industry does business, its socialism, communism and motivated by hatred of the free market system. But when they try to do it, it's god's work.

Hi, I'm Kirk Douglas. You may remember me from movies like Spartacus and Saturn 3. I've had the good fortune to work with some of the most beautiful and glamorous women in Hollywood, and I was able to get away with raping several of them. That's why I recommend Comprehensive Rape Coverage from Colonial Penn, the leader in affordable insurance plans.

Our rape policy covers 100% of expenses your regular insurance won't; like abortions, hymen restoration, and reconstructive plastic surgery as necessary. No matter how savagely you may be violated, our coverage will have you back to showroom original quality GUARANTEED. You can't be turned down, no matter how promiscuous you are or how slatternly you may dress. And best of all, it only costs a few dollars per day.

Operators are standing by. The sooner you call, the sooner you'll have someone to pick up the pieces of the horrible tragedy you'll inevitably bring upon yourself. With Colonial Penn Comprehensive Rape Coverage, you can lay back and enjoy it every time.
