Lucille Ball WHAT'S MY LINE?

December 1960 while starring on Broadway in WILDCAT!

Would Greer Garson have been better than Lucy in "Mame" (1974)? Keep in mind her advanced age.

Another thing Gary Morton told her not to do, and the one time she didn't listen. Sigh.

Who is the crazy blonde panelist who is not Arlene Francis?

by Anonymousreply 305/22/2013

R3, that's Faye Emerson, who, among other things, was once a daughter-in-law to Franklin & Eleanor Roosevelt.

by Anonymousreply 405/22/2013

It's unusual to see a TV show from that era that is advertising a product that is still in existence and successful.

Wow. An interesting tidbit about Faye Emerson from wikipedia: She died in 1983 at the age of sixty-five of stomach cancer in Deià, Majorca, a village favored by retired artists and entertainers. For years she lived there with Anne Roosevelt, the divorced first wife of Elliott's brother John Aspinwall Roosevelt.

Lucy had the most glorious handwriting.

by Anonymousreply 708/24/2013

R2 I don't think she even knew Gary Morton at that time.

by Anonymousreply 808/24/2013

Why are her teeth black?

by Anonymousreply 908/24/2013

Lucy must have been a real trooper to make a live appearance on WML on her one night off from singing and dancing in Wildcat 8 performances a week.

by Anonymousreply 1008/24/2013

In the 1950s Faye Emerson was one of the biggest stars on TV and one of the most admired women in America, though she mostly just played herself on talk shows and quiz shows.

Today she is completely forgotten.

I still know the entire score of Wildcat by heart, learned it as a kid acting out Lucy's part all the time. Ya think my parents had a clue, lol.

[quote] Faye Emerson

That's some mid-atlantic accent!

by Anonymousreply 1308/24/2013

nobody could compare with Lucille Ball.

by Anonymousreply 1408/24/2013

She seems sad in that clip. Wildcat wore her OUT and she left early due to illness and fatigue.
