or wound a watch . . .

The Universities and Colleges have largely been turned into Corporate training centers. Education is not their primary goal today.

...who have never used a button-hook to button their high-top shoes.

by Anonymousreply 405/20/2013

I cried when I had no shoes, until I met a man who had no feet. And then I laughed, REALLY hard.

There are college graduates today who have never written a coherent sentence.

The Ivy Leagues have become Billionaire clubs.

Places like Harvard rarely let in working class students these days.

by Anonymousreply 705/20/2013

Or heard of ME!

"The Ivy Leagues have become Billionaire clubs."

If anything, it is the opposite. It was much easier in the past for dumb, rich guys like Dubya to get into Ivy League schools.

Please let this thread die. So predictable. Can see where this is going...tinfoil hats is where!

Velcro was big in the 80s when I was a kid. Is it back? I see so many old things (some fads, some not) going on or coming back, sometimes with odd new names.

An old roommate got a MBA from USC. He now flies around the country shouting at tea party events.

I had thought that they no longer teach how to tell non-digital time, nor how to read Roman numerals ... do they?

[quote]If Jody Arias is acquitted, then it will be legal for women to kill men with impunity. Obama will make her the new Secretary of State, since she knows how to stab guys in the back.

You lived with that person r12? You have my sympathy.

by Anonymousreply 1405/20/2013

Damn you, R8!

by Anonymousreply 1505/20/2013

Or have ever used a rotary dial phone.

There were always college graduates who never wrote a coherent sentence, R6.

I actually work with a young woman who has no clue how to sew a loose button back on! Ironically, she told me her mother was an accomplished seamstress, I gather this is some type of passive/aggressive way of driving her mom nuts?

This young woman came into work one day with all the buttons loose on a very expensive designer coat, she asked us if there was a tailor nearby who could 'fix' her coat!

To add to this bullshit, we all work for a fashion designer. This young woman is a stylist, I still don't understand how she was hired, she claims she has no background in sewing, how can she know about clothes?! Everyone in the department sews, but we don't necessarily sew as part of our jobs, only in an emergency.

She's also a whiny entitled annoying piece of hipster shit. Blame the parents for coddling these idiots.

Soon enough, cursive writing will need an interpreter. Like some sort of hieroglyphs. Sad.

by Anonymousreply 1905/20/2013

Velcro is alien technology.

[quote]There were always college graduates who never wrote a coherent sentence, [R6].

Shouldn't that be a minimum requirement for acceptance?

by Anonymousreply 2105/20/2013

I can't tell time unless it's a digital clock.
