The X-Factor to hire Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio as new judges?

Fox’s The X Factor is looking to have plenty of girl power next fall. The judges panel will likely consist of executive producer Simon Cowell and three female judges.

One will be returning judge Demi Lovato, as the network previously announced. If all goes according to plan, another will be singer, dancer and Super Bowl halftime show-stopper Kelly Rowland. The Grammy-winning Destiny’s Child founding member has previously been floated as a potential judge in the press, but EW can exclusively report she’s firming up a deal to join the show. Rowland should feel quite comfortable at the judges table; she has extensive on-camera experience, from serving as a judge on the eighth season of the UK version of The X Factor to performing on Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance.

We’re not certain who will secure the third judge spot, though we’re hearing Latin singer-actress Paulina Rubio is in talks.

The deals will have to be completed soon — The X Factor starts production on season three on Tuesday. The new judges will replace season two panelists Britney Spears and L.A. Reid.

I'm guessing in his head Simon Cowell is imagining himself in this all girl panel as Posh Spice.

Who the fuck is Paulina Rubio?

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 205/18/2013

Spanish singer.

Would Kelly and Paulina actually attract viewers?

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 305/18/2013

Nobody cares about these singing shows anymore. They could fly Jesus in from Nazareth to judge, and I still wouldn't bother to watch.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 405/18/2013

Jesus would have made a great rocking hair-metal band singer.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 505/18/2013

X File won't be renewed after the next season and neither will Idol.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 605/19/2013

[quote]Spanish singer.

She sings in Spanish, but she's Mexican.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 705/19/2013

Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio??? What year is this??? 2002?

The people choosing the judges don't know WTF they're doing. Looks like it'll be another flop season.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 805/19/2013

I feel so out of it. Who are these people?

Isn't Bette, Joan or Jayne Mansfield available? Wouldn't Mamie van Doren make a great judge? Someone I'd recognize?

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 905/19/2013

Nobody cares about these shows anymore.

I don't know why they won't get some like David Foster or Chaka Khan or Babyface to be hosts.

These kids need to be mentored by Icons, Not hasbeens.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 1005/19/2013

Kelly Rowland was on Bravo's flop 'The Fashion Show' with Isaac Mizrahi, a Project Runway rip-off that only lasted 2 dismal seasons. She looked beautiful every episode, but her delivery was wood wood wood. I don't know what they were thinking, she sounded like she was reading cue cards badly.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 1105/19/2013

I'm sure they're looking for bargain basement rates now.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 1205/19/2013

[quote]I feel so out of it. Who are these people?

Don't worry - you have good reason for not knowing these people.

Kelly Rowland was a member of the defunct group "Destiny's Child". She's released several solo singles and albums, but they were all flops in the US and only 3 of her singles ever reached the Top 40.

Paulina Rubio is a Mexican singer who had a very modest hit back in 2002 with a song called "Don't Say Goodbye", which reached a mediocre #41 in the US. Other than that, she's virtually unknown in America.

So, as you can see, it's very strange why they would even consider these has-beens and never-weres as judges if they're trying to improve ratings.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 1305/19/2013

That's a double dose of who cares

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 1405/19/2013

[quote]She looked beautiful every episode, but her delivery was wood wood wood.

A bad thing for a reality host; a good thing for an escort.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 1505/19/2013

Poor Kelly! Pretty soon the only job left for her will be that of nanny to Beyonce's children.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 1605/19/2013

[quote]Other than that, she's virtually unknown in America.

She's actually VERY well-known among the large US Latino community, and has headlined several successful concert tours in this country.

Additionally, she was a coach on season two of the Mexican version of "The Voice."

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 1705/19/2013

I wonder if anyone has told Kelly Rowland that she looks like a old worn out prostitute.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 1805/19/2013

Who cares? That's not mainstream America.

R19=Republican

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 2005/19/2013

R20 Not a Republican at all. Just get so sick of how Latinos always have to jump in with their "but so and so is huge in the Latino community". Everything is always Latino this, Latino that.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 2105/19/2013

Isn't Paulina Rubio the one who has (or had) a home with 1 million square feet (!!!) ?

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 2205/19/2013

First look at the exciting new judges!

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 2305/26/2013

Is anyone even checking for this show?

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 2405/26/2013

Go sit on a spiky black dildo, white piece of trash R21.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 2505/26/2013

Why are you not a Republican, R21?

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 2605/26/2013

Kelly Rowland is a borderline dyke and Rubio is bi at the least. I wonder if being on X-Fucker will put the spotlight on them. Rowland fucked one of the Williams sisters(not Penis but Serena) and Rubio had a very public catfight with a lesbian player in Miami over that player's ex-girlfriend.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 2705/26/2013

We had Kelly Rowland for a year (or 2) on X-Factor here in England - and she brought nothing to the table, and seemed barely interested in the singers she was supposedly mentoring ... she went off to Florida in a sulk when she fell out with the other female judge, punk girl Tulisa (now also trashed from the next series, as Sharon Osborne is returning to join the terrific Nicole Scherzinger).

Kelly was all about her and her pouting and different looks every week .... Nicole on the other hand is fabulous, had a great time and got on great with her charges.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 2805/26/2013

But I agree, these singing shows are on the way out ... we are getting bored with them now as the kids discover they are not in fact a route to quick fame and riches and most of them are dropped quickly and used up for sob stories.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 2905/26/2013

Paulina Whobio?

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 3005/26/2013

Yeah r29 these shows are done, thank god people are finally getting fed up of them, worst thing ever to happen to music.

r28 I thought Scherzinger was the one on the way out, Tulisa seemed the It Girl.

I hate that cunt Sharon Osbourne, she's better off left in the past.

I haven't watched X Factor since the Osbourne era, but I understand it peaked around the time Cheryl Cole/Dannii Minogue were on it with their dress battle each week. It just kept getting slicker and slicker.

In the early years when Osbourne was in it, it wasn't so slick and polished and we didn't find out autotune was used - the same thing happened to American Idol, the editing got sharper.

Anyway Osbourne was a real cunt to Dannii Minogue. Dannii indeed was the joke of the music industry until she started releasing some good dance singles, but X Factor was what made her a star. I heard that Dannii was the best judge of all, critical but reasoned and fair, she also had talent show origins in Australia.

Scherzinger is kind of Z list, unable to launch her solo career outside the UK and now appearing in an advert for a luxury yogurt but she can really sing and came from a talent show, so the perfect judge.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 3105/26/2013

Ha!

Thalia, as if she did any better in the States.

Is she still married to Mottola?

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 3205/26/2013

No offence R17. but she is practically unknown in America.

And no! Only certain groups of the Latino population[in the US] know who she is.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 3305/26/2013

Poor Kelly! Does she need money?

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 3405/26/2013

Kelly Rowland was not great on X-factor UK. Very dated mentor, obsessed with 90's R'n'B runs and vocals.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 3505/26/2013

LMAO Paulina Rubio is trending on twitter because people hate her for sending home someone on X-Factor that the public loves. I don't watch the show; but this is hysterical. End X-Factor after this season, Fox.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 3610/10/2013

Paulina fucked up her picks. FOX should fire her before the live shows begin. She can barely speak English and has no appeal.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 3710/10/2013

hahahaha Paulina getting so many hate tweets. Satan Cowell is an idiot for casting Rowland and Rubio.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 3810/10/2013

I noticed during the auditions (and even during the 4-chair challenges) that they edited out most of Paulina's comments. It was like she wasn't even there.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 3910/10/2013

Well, The X-Factor tied with The Vampire Diaries in the 18-49 demo last night, and only pulled in a total of 3.6 million viewers. No way in hell will it be back next season. And it makes me wonder what American Idol's ratings will be like when it returns in January.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 4011/08/2013

3 seasons and each one gets worse ratings than the last. Haven't they heard of 3 strikes you're out? The show sucks and it will never be a hit in America. Nobody in the US cares about Cowell's shitty shows anymore. It's all about "The Voice" now.

Time to cancel this shit and send Cowell back to the UK.

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 4111/08/2013

[quote]Would Kelly and Paulina actually attract viewers?

Apparently not.

'The X-Factor' Collapses in Ratings

by Steve Jones' furry chestreply 4212/14/2013

R42 Why doesn't Fox just cancel this flop once this season is over? Each season has less viewers than the previous one.
