Red wine

is so much better than white wine.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 2405/12/2013

agreed. many more varieties that all have different tastes and personalities, where white wines really have small differences in maybe 2 or 3 categories (well in my humble opinion). I actually can't drink white wine at all, feels like I'm drinking cool-aid.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 105/11/2013

I like red, but it does not like me.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 205/11/2013

Fuck you, OP. Pinot Grigio is THE only wine.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 305/11/2013

I hate white wine. It always feels like it is stripping the enamel off of my teeth - even the good stuff, or it is toooo sweet.

Well, I so like a bottle of champers now and again.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 405/11/2013

Amateur.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 505/11/2013

I prefer vinegar.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 605/11/2013

I like an American Sauvignon Blanc. Light and crisp.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 705/11/2013

Agreed. Nothing like a glass of red zin (or a solid zin-based blend) at the end of the day. Although, when it's hot outside a nice cold glass of Chardonnay or Souvignon Blanc hits the spot.

Red wine is more complex, but that doesn't mean white wine doesn't have its pleasures.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 905/11/2013

Meursault.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 1105/11/2013

The line broke, the monkey get choke

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 1205/11/2013

I agree that there are fewer types of white wines, but the best of them are quite tasty.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 1305/11/2013

I'm just after having a glass of red. Not so keen on rosé but love pinot grigio.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 1405/11/2013

Wine-drunk is the best drunk.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 1505/11/2013

A true French Chablis can be great. (White wines are often labeled as "Chablis" when they are not.)

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 1605/11/2013

Some lovely whites are complex, multi-layered and quite good. Like reds, just follow some simple rules: ABC - anything but Chardonnay; sweet whites only belong with dessert; and, it must be properly chilled. Unlike reds, whites do not get better with age, so pay attention to vintage.

My hang up is that it doesn't bother me at all to drink a white that comes from a screw-top bottle, but my red must be properly corked. I know that's just a fallacy, but since a lot of wine drinking is psychological anyway, I can't help but think poorly of a screw-top red. And don't get me started on wine in a box.

In very warm summer months some of the light Italian whites are very refreshing.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 1805/11/2013

Brunello is my favorite

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 1905/11/2013

Anything but chardonnay is silly advice. Chablis and Burgundy are all chardonnay.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 2005/11/2013

Well, R20, then why do they call them Chablis and Burgundy if its all the same? Oh wait, because dumbasses like you will drink anything. Nevermind.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 2105/12/2013

I am drinking a glass of red from a bottle that was opened and sitting in the fridge for a week. It's not right, but it's okay.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 2205/12/2013

No.

by Eeeeerrrrrrrrrhhhhhhreply 2305/12/2013

Red wine gives me purple teeth after one glass, so I can't have it out in public. I have to enjoy it at home. Luckily I do like white though, just nothing too sweet. And dry rose is wonderful during the summer (and doesn't stain).
