So should it have been someone new?
Neil Patrick Harris to host Tony's again!
|by Anonymous||reply 44||11/11/2014|
I used to really like him, but he seems more and more smug as the years go by.
Good luck to him though.

Host Tony's what?
|by Anonymous||reply 2||05/09/2013|
Can't he just go away, take a vacation for a while? Something?
|by Anonymous||reply 3||05/09/2013|
He and that guy from Modern Family, Jesse Tyler Ferguson (sp?) are two of the most camera-hamming, smug bitches in Hollywood.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||05/09/2013|
Love him, total talent, perfect choice to host!!
|by Anonymous||reply 5||05/09/2013|
Ho hum. More insider-y, wink-wink the Tonys are gay jokes.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||05/09/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 7||05/09/2013|
Fine by me. Nobody gives a damn about the Tony show or host except for a handful of super loony theater lovers. And even fewer people watch the show or care about the winners. You won't catch me tuning in to the crap this year.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||05/09/2013|
What are the "Tony's"?
|by Anonymous||reply 9||05/09/2013|
Only 123 people will watch the show. After they've been to Ann Miner's party.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||05/09/2013|
I have OD'd on Neil, the Tonys, Broadway and all things gay gay gay. It's all just too much. I can't stand one more wink wink joke about how gay the Tonys are in that opening number (this will be FOUR years?). I just won't be watching. It's like too much of a rich dessert that makes one nauseous.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||05/09/2013|

Bette is CORRECT.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||05/09/2013|
Sorry complainers, I like him. He's funny and he can sing and dance and he's OUT.
I know we on the DL are supposed to hate him on sight for the out gayness alone, but I like him.
Back to the Cheetos, you haters.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||05/09/2013|
Why can't they get someone like Nicholas Hoult to host.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||05/09/2013|
R13, you sound like a teenage girl. Being TIRED of him is not "hating" him. I think he is very talented, funny and cute. I am just sick of him and wish he would go away for awhile. He is overexposed. That does not mean he is hated. Big difference, Gidget.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||05/09/2013|
Because Hoult has zero personality and even lower zero presence. He hasn't had a TV sitcom to at least keep in any public eye.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||05/09/2013|
I'm angling for the Oscars.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||05/09/2013|
[quote]Because Hoult has zero personality and even lower zero presence.
Now that's just made-up crap.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||05/09/2013|
Only David and the kids will be watching this year's poor excuse for a Broadway season awards show.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||05/09/2013|
poor David kept tweeting how lonely and bored he was while alone with the kids last year during all of Neil's Tony rehearsals. Tough being a housewife I guess.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||05/09/2013|
I think he is a great host-talented and out. How can you be tired of a certain person hosting if it is only once a year? Carson and Hope emceed the oscars for years and years and did so without wearing their welcome out. I do, however, agree that the show will suck because of the horrible shows this past year.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||05/09/2013|
Will they salute AnnE and all she has done for the theatre?
|by Anonymous||reply 22||05/09/2013|
Is money in the Burtka-Harris household really that tight? Why does NPH have to work as a hostess at an Italian restaurant when he appears on a top-rated sitcom?
|by Anonymous||reply 23||05/09/2013|
[quote] I just won't be watching.
The hell you won't. If you were serious you wouldn't have spent the time to read and then post in a Tonys thread.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||05/09/2013|
He's hosting Tony's COCK.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||05/09/2013|
I thought Harris and Burtka were breaking up. Did they call it off?
He's very good and set the bar high on his first appearance. But I think they should give it to Nick Adams from Priscilla this year. He's gorg and out. Way out.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||05/09/2013|

I swear the move constantly....in NY salone they went from Harlem to Tribeca and just the other day NPH tweeted that he is looking for a Brownstone in Harlem.
They must lose so much money on the mortgage fees alone.

and totally unknown
|by Anonymous||reply 28||05/09/2013|
They should stage auditions and cast a total unknown as the host.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||05/09/2013|

Uhm, did you ever catch his 16-part blog during the run of "Priscilla" on BroadwayWorld.com? He is REALLY dull, nelly, and has a completely dull charisma-free personality. I'm sure he's a nice enough fellow, but "Priscilla" was his one and only step out from the chorus!
|by Anonymous||reply 30||05/09/2013|
Can't wait. I hope he gets a talk show sometime. Go, Doog.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||05/09/2013|
I'm so sick of him.
I can't even stand his commercials for his stupid TV show.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||05/09/2013|

No I never have First Night Fanny. But what about the idea of giving someone from the chorus a chance to host the show. Have them completely rehearse and be really good. Let them be a star on Broadway for one night before they end up in cruise ships and dinner theater.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||05/09/2013|
Sorry but Harris hosting the TONY Awards is not going to help the show. He is smug ad someone mentioned. He and his show are well-past their prime.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||05/09/2013|
He is smug, Smug, SMUG.
I just want him to go away!
|by Anonymous||reply 35||05/09/2013|
He can come right to -- and in -- my house, R35.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||05/09/2013|
GOOD and please never let him leave.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||05/09/2013|
I think he's great! What I can't stand is the morons who post idiotic crap like "I know we on the DL are supposed to hate him..."
|by Anonymous||reply 38||05/09/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 39||05/10/2013|
The musicals are so poor this year, expect the producers to pull out songs from Les Miz, Phantom, and Mamma Mia again. Or they could get Shirley Bassey to sing all of the songs.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||05/10/2013|
Why start a thread about it? It should be obvious they'd never consider anyone else.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||11/11/2014|
It was such a good show. I have it on tape if anyone wants a copy of it.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||11/11/2014|
