Your friends, co-workers and neighbors
Do you ever wonder which might be living some dark, depraved existence? Like murder, prostitution, drugs, abusive, abused?
A woman who works at my same company (I only saw her a couple times, different building) was arrested last year along with another woman when the cops pulled over their mobile meth lab. She made decent money, but apparently it wasn't enough.
I think it's getting harder and harder to tell because people are getting better and better and hiding things.

I had a coworker that was having sex with his daughter. He went to jail and had to file as a sex offender. Funny thing is the guy was good looking and nice as all get out. And when I met the family including the daughter they were nice normal loving. You would have never suspected that stuff was going on. He went to work in offshore to comply with the sex offender laws.

OP. I play this game all the time in the lunch room at work. Who secretly drinks? Who beats their wife? I suspect they all do.

I worked with a woman whose husband molested their youngest daughter from age 8 to 16. The mother found out when mother and daughter had the same STD. The mother said the only reason she didn't kill him was that her daughter needed her more than the mother needed to kill him.
I worked with another woman whose ex-husband was a rapist.
The last is the worst. The murderer of the Georgetown Starbuck employees was working as a security guard in the building and for my company (more than one company in the building) when he was arrested.

Noone at my work knows I'm a heroin/morphine addict. I've even hit up in the work bathrooms before (I stopped a couple of years ago - too risky). People are surprisingly oblivious if you blend in okay. A young, successful guy in another section was recently busted trying to defraud the agency of almost a million dollars - he tried to kill himself when he was caught out.

i've worked with a lot of thieves. I work in a cash biz and many of my co-workers have been fired, one of them even stole ipods, iphone during our xmas party. He denied it but we all knew it was him coz the gps of the phone was tracked to his neighborhood.

Lol. Yes. It always crosses my mind what people are up to, because it's a reality - not everyone is what they seem.
So, who is really sexually active, who is into extreme porn, who is beating or getting beat by their partner or spouse or girlfriend/boyfriend, who has weird fetishes, who has a giant dildo, who has an enormous cock, who is as boring as they seem, who is a closet "problem drinker", etc.?

A coworker of mine at a previous company killed his wife, threw her into the swimming pool and pulled to cover over the pool, but the lump under the cover showed the police where the body was.

These aren't very exciting but here goes.
I have a co-worker who reeks of alcohol some days and calls out sick every other month. I think he's an alcoholic. I've had a few "straight" guys makes passes at me. That's not very salacious but I'm sure our other co-workers would be surprised.
I think a lady in another department is bulimic. I heard her coughing like she was throwing up in the bathroom one day. She was that loud. Someone mentioned once that early one morning the women's bathroom smelled like vomit. I've also noticed she's looked flush a few times at work.

I don't have to wonder.

R9, how do handle an employee who sends an email to another co-worker about illegal things your employer is doing?

One of the security guards in our office building was arrested for being a serial peeping tom. He was caught outside a woman's home trying to videotape her through her bedroom window. It was on the TV news and we all had a good laugh about it, because the guy was such an overly friendly cheeseball.

Two managers I had at Ft.Myers Airport were on the news a couple of years ago, for killing and hiding the body of one of their GF. I saw it on the news.

"You would have never suspected that stuff [molestation] was going on"
Maybe it wasn't. Is there some kind of doctor's exam for this? Was there a jizz-soaked article of clothing?
These days all you have to say it and it becomes fact.

I worked as a file clerk in a one-lawyer office my first year in college. She was a bitch on wheels (though nice to me probably because I was so young, 17, when I started), but so good at what she did (family law) and in high demand that there really weren't implications for her bad behavior. Except for cycling through support staff. (when I left on good terms after a year, I was the longest-serving employee). She cycled through a secretary every couple of months. Finally, she hired an obese woman, hyper-competent woman. At last! I thought the woman might stick because the lawyer was pretty desperate to keep her and was trying best behavior. I dropped by to visit a few months and she was gone. To jail. Somehow, she'd been embezzling money from the office accounts and opened several credit cards in the lawyer's name. Kind of schadenfreudish.
