Soccer referee dies after being punched in the face by 17 year-old goalie

Told ya I was hard-core!

by 17 year-old goaliereply 3505/06/2013

Please don't let him be an upper-middle-class white boy.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 205/05/2013

You can't just give a guy what-for anymore, because they just up and die on you. and then there's that whole prison thing.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 305/05/2013

Soccer is not the sport for him I guess...

by 17 year-old goaliereply 405/05/2013

I sense a conviction for involuntary manslaughter and assault that will hopefully be brought down by trying him as an adult.

An upper-middle-class white kid? No way.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 605/05/2013

Why isn't it murder?

Hitting someone doing a voluntary pursuit?

"OOOPS, I was really angry, therefore I can punch you to death"

From Wikipedia:

The racial makeup of Taylorsville was 78.2% White, 1.9% African American, 0.9% Native American, 3.9% Asian, 2.2% Pacific Islander, 9.5% from other races, and 3.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 18.6% of the population.

The median income for a household in the city was $54,881, and the median income for a family was $62,023. Males had a median income of $34,947 versus $24,801 for females. The per capita income for the city was $21,210. About 9.7% of families and 12.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 22.1% of those under age 18 and 4.5% of those age 65 or over.

Unlikely a upper-middle-class kid.

Guys, could we for one minute think about the poor dead guy and the widow and fatherless kids he left behind.

Stories like these make me realize 'things don't happen for a (good) reason.'

by 17 year-old goaliereply 1105/05/2013

Was the yellow card deserved? Why isn't the news media getting us the details we need?

by 17 year-old goaliereply 1205/05/2013

[quote]Stories like these make me realize 'things don't happen for a (good) reason.'

One wonders how old you are to just now be realizing this.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 1305/05/2013

It appears to be a Hispanic league.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 1405/05/2013

R13, oh, I always knew.

But remember when the Secret came along?

I had a few friends who feel for that stuff like a ton of bricks.

It took a while from the to come around.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 1505/05/2013

I feel so sorry for the referee's family. Imagine having a loved one die so unexpectedly, so unnecessarily, so stupidly. He got killed because over a soccer penalty!.

The 17 year old who killed him is obviously dangerous as hell. I hope they put him away a long time. If it were up to me I'd have him put away for the rest of his miserable life.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 1605/05/2013

"Was the yellow card deserved?"

What the fuck does it matter if the yellow card was "deserved" or not? Are you saying that if it was "undeserved" the psycho kid's behavior was justified? NOBODY has the right to hit anybody else for anything, unless you're defending yourself from physical harm.

The kid is obviously some kind of monster.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 1705/05/2013

Of course it matters whether the card was deserved, just as the intent of the player matters.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 1805/05/2013

[quote]Of course it matters whether the card was deserved, just as the intent of the player matters.

Because everyone knows that if a ref makes a bad call, manslaughter is justified?

by 17 year-old goaliereply 1905/05/2013

No one said anything about justifying manslaughter. Everyone knows that punches are thrown every day and nothing comes of it. You can't have that set up as a societal example and then pretend that a freakishly unusual result should be treated as any old killing.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 2105/05/2013

R12/R18 is INSANE. Yeah, let's care about how 'deserved' or not the yellow card is, instead of the dead referee.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 2205/05/2013

It would be involuntary manslaughter. And aggravated assault.

Big question of whether he'll be charged as an adult. If not, he'll probably get juvenile detention plus probation.

Interesting to see what he's charged with and how he's punished.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 2305/05/2013

Mmmmm...sports.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 2405/05/2013

"Of course it matters whether the card was deserved, just as the intent of the player matters."

Exactly WHY does it matter "whether the card was deserved?" You're obviously implying that if the card was not deserved the psycho kid's actions were justified. You're one sick fuck.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 2505/05/2013

The yellow card has now been changed to a red.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 2605/05/2013

He looks like he is packing on a few extra pounds. He was obviously out of shape and this probably just sped up the inevitable.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 2705/05/2013

What a tragedy. Hope the kid goes to jail forever.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 2805/05/2013

r25, don't get worked up over it. It's just weird (DL) humor. Pretty sure everyone is on the side of wanting this boy justly convicted.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 2905/05/2013

[quote]Please don't let him be an upper-middle-class white boy.

It's not - it's a Mexican.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 3005/05/2013

Heteros ruin everything. Heterosexual males ACT OUT. You have to watch out for that.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 3105/05/2013

"Everyone knows that punches are thrown every day and nothing comes of it"

And what a tragedy that is...

No-one should be throwing punches at anyone, no matter the reason.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 3205/06/2013

So we've determined that the player isn't hot then?

by 17 year-old goaliereply 3305/06/2013

[quote] It would be involuntary manslaughter. And aggravated assault.

No, it would be regular manslaughter, not involuntary. Involuntary manslaughter is killing someone through gross negligence (recklessness). Punching someone never falls into that category unless you are trying to argue it was supposed to be like a "joke punch" or something.

by 17 year-old goaliereply 3405/06/2013

[quote]Why isn't it murder?

Because there was no intent to kill. Killing someone with one punch is an extreme rarity--it cannot be reasonably assumed that anyone punching someone once intended to kill him.
