Closet Case Luke Evans Is THE CROW

Well at least wearing black, much like living a lie, is slimming.

by Anonymousreply 20206/02/2013

It'll be interesting if he becomes established as a leading man. The UK press won't keep quiet about it once he's big enough fame-wise.

by Anonymousreply 205/04/2013

Now you've done it. If DL believes the closet would help them lose weight, they will all do it.

by Anonymousreply 305/04/2013

Does not matter who is playing The Crow, a remake is a bad idea.

by Anonymousreply 405/04/2013

Who is his agent? He was nowhere and now he's everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 505/04/2013

Who keeps trying to make these British closet cases Hollywood stars?

by Anonymousreply 605/04/2013

The Crow? Really? This is a movie that doesn't need to happen.

by Anonymousreply 705/04/2013
Who keeps trying to make these British closet cases Hollywood stars?

British? huh? I thought he was Chris Evans' brother?...I'm so confused.

by Anonymousreply 805/04/2013

r8, SCOTT Evans is Chris Evans' gay brother. LUKE Evans is a British actor who, when he was starting out in the early 2000s in the Boy George musical "Taboo" was openly gay, and continued to be so until Hollywood came calling about 3 years ago and he rather embarrassingly attempted to go back into the closet.

by Anonymousreply 905/04/2013

how do you go back in? Isn't that like being a born again virgin?

by Anonymousreply 1005/04/2013

Here's the whole story

by Anonymousreply 1105/05/2013

Inning is the new thing. Coming out is so 00s.

by Anonymousreply 1205/05/2013

I love this man!

by Anonymousreply 1305/05/2013
I love this man!

You love people who go back into the closet and make it look like being gay is something to be ashamed of???

Wow, you're pathetic.

by Anonymousreply 1405/05/2013

That's not true, r14. He's not ready to come out yet.

by Anonymousreply 1505/05/2013

He's a coward and a liar.

by Anonymousreply 1605/05/2013

Was that youtube video of him at the Boy George play yanked? That beggars belief. I'd love to get a hold of his voice coach.

Anyway, look at this. If he had longer hair like he had before the resemblance would be clearer. I'm team McAvoy all the way in this Celtic thespian battle.

by Anonymousreply 1705/05/2013
He's not ready to come out yet.

Umm, he came out, quite loudly and proudly, in an interview with the Advocate about a decade ago. He even boldly proclaimed that he'd never let anyone force him to hide his sexuality. Now, he (or his PR people) want us to pretend that the interview never happened, even though it can easily be found with a simple Google search.

by Anonymousreply 1805/05/2013

OP why did you say black was slimming? Do you think Luke is fat? Cause he has a pretty hot body, IMO.

by Anonymousreply 1905/05/2013

He's actually a lovely guy. I was an extra on a film of his and he was friendly to everyone, chatted to me and my small group until it was time to film.

He deserves all his success.

by Anonymousreply 2005/05/2013

R20 = Luke

by Anonymousreply 2105/05/2013

Well, he must be a great guy, because great things are happening for him.

When I heard he got the lead role in the Crow, I thought someone got it mixed up, because he just got a lead role in the new monster series movies in which he'll play Dracula. (I forgot whom Tom Cruise is playing)

Anyway, I happened to be watching a movie he was in, Blitz. Man, if he can just stay looking like that.

by Anonymousreply 2205/05/2013
OP why did you say black was slimming? Do you think Luke is fat? Cause he has a pretty hot body, IMO.
I was wondering the same thing, because he's far from fat. He needs fat. Luckily, the last photo I saw of Luke, he appears to have picked up some pounds and is growing out his hair, which was super short.

I sure hope that photo was not just an illusion, because he was getting pretty skin and bones.

by Anonymousreply 2305/05/2013

r10 we had a great thread here last year about the whole thing. Annoying, hilarious and unbelievable.

A great read.

by Anonymousreply 2405/05/2013

The formerly out gay British actor Luke Evans, Part Deux.

by Anonymousreply 2505/05/2013

I guess he's getting paid and doing it his way.

by Anonymousreply 2605/05/2013
Well, he must be a great guy, because great things are happening for him.

Yes, because only great guys have great things happen to them.

by Anonymousreply 2705/05/2013
I guess he's getting paid and doing it his way.

Gays like you are a disgrace. You'll cheer on some ugly closet case who now denies that he's gay for the sake of fame and fortune, yet you'll criticize and put down successful out gay actors like Matt Bomer and NPH.

by Anonymousreply 2805/05/2013

Oh, I stand corrected - R22/R23/R26 isn't a gay man; that's the fangurl that comes on DL almost every day around this time to post in threads about Luke Evans and Henry Cavill.

Run along back to Oh No They Didn't! and Just Jared now sweetheart.

by Anonymousreply 2905/05/2013

This bitch. I never thought I would say it, but I think I have more respect for the actor who never comes out in the first place than I do for someone who came out, loudly proclaimed that he'd never closet himself for something as base as money, and then went and closeted himself for money.

It's true that the ones who don't come out aren't helping the cause by staying invisible, but at least they're not actively doing damage by openly declaring that being gay is something to hide if you want to be successful.

by Anonymousreply 3005/05/2013

I agree, r20. The rest are just JEALOUS.

by Anonymousreply 3105/05/2013

Oh, it's completely possible for him to be a lovely person but still be an asshole coward for going back in the closet.

by Anonymousreply 3205/05/2013

Basement dwellers everywhere are out today searching for beards. Slow day on DL

by Anonymousreply 3305/05/2013

Why, r34? There are plenty of people who made loathesome decisions or actions in order to promote their careers, but could still be lovely, nice people face to face.

by Anonymousreply 3505/05/2013

I've also heard he's a great guy from people, if occasionally a little full of himself. I've no problem with him being 'out' or 'in'.

More importantly, where's the Cam4 video? Pics are already out so you just know the video of him wanking his 8 incher is going to hit sometime.

These days those kind of videos don't really impact careers - Colin Farrell's doing better than ever, Jamie Foxx is going fine even with that dick pic out there, etc.

by Anonymousreply 3605/05/2013

I've a huge problem with cowards who are closeted.

by Anonymousreply 3705/05/2013

He looks like he has facial wasting. I'm guessing poz since '98, '99.

by Anonymousreply 3805/05/2013

Why does the media let him get away with it? The media drives everything regarding celebrity, so that's where you should look first and foremost.

by Anonymousreply 3905/05/2013

When has the media ever gone after closeted celebrities?! They are the biggest perpetrators of helping actors be closeted.

His blatant attempt to go back in the closet made a lot of news among the gay blogs and was mentioned on Chelsea Lately but that is about as far as it can go.

by Anonymousreply 4005/05/2013

Is it not the case though that he's just not denying it and going along with it? The media not asking questions would be it.

I doubt if he was asked the direct question he would say a flat no. I think Brad Cooper got around this by pre-empting it and spouting some bull about gay rumours, he also is much worse since he was married.

If Luke was asked what girls he thought were hot, hopefully he'd say "I'm gay" rather than just making a list. For me I wouldn't say I was gay unless I was asked the direct question (beside it being frigging obvious lol), but also if I was asked if I had a girlfriend I'd say "no, I'm a gay".

by Anonymousreply 4105/05/2013

Nevertheless I agree that complicitly going along with bearding is really sickening, like some things will never change and it gives The Daily Hate stuff to throw in his face.

He is also a special closet case, Cavill can maybe erase some of his past but he was never out and proud to the world professionally - he was more looks based anyway. Discarding your past and your identity is never a good thing.

In contrast to Luke there was this actor on the soap Eastenders who played straight but immediately said "sorry girls, I'm gay" and was in 20 year relationship since he was a teen. That was so refreshing and inspiring.

by Anonymousreply 4205/05/2013

*41 of course, always caught out by the post numbers.

by Anonymousreply 4305/05/2013

r41, actually, what happened is he showed up at a premiere with a female friend that he'd known for years and they both claimed they were now engaged.

This created a brouhaha due to the Advocate article and other articles where he talked about being openly gay and his love of watching gay porn.

After weeks of this going on (and an edit war going on over at Wikipedia), his PR people issued a non-denial denial, saying, in essence, that, yes, he had said such things long ago but did not wish discuss his personal life now. Such bullshit.

I wonder if he's finally going to have the balls to rectify the situation. If not, I think we should put some pressure on the media to fucking do their jobs.

by Anonymousreply 4405/05/2013

Here is the statement After Elton finally got from his PR after weeks of the back-and-forth:
I do not comment on my client’s personal lives in the media. As for Luke, he did so once, a long time ago when he was an inexperienced, young actor and now with maturity and hindsight, he has learned not to engage the press in his personal life again.

Translation: With maturity and hindsight, he has learned the exact manner in which he is expected to whore himself out before he can have a Hollywood career.

by Anonymousreply 4505/05/2013

Then whatever semblance of gay community there is should be shunning him and his films, but there seems to be a solid contingent of gays who find him hot, so that goes out the window.

by Anonymousreply 4605/05/2013

R46. A number of us also feel his personal life is just that, personal.

by Anonymousreply 4705/05/2013

What pussies.

by Anonymousreply 4805/05/2013

R47 LE is a hypocrite and a liar. End of story.

by Anonymousreply 4905/05/2013

Nasty closeted queen! Deport her to Saudi Arabia!

by Anonymousreply 5005/05/2013

But then he sat for a painter who was doing a series of painting of gay actors put into classic scenes. McKellan, Stephen Fry and Fry's boyfriend, Steven Webb, all sat for the artist separately.

It's clear Evans is just avoiding the issue. The girlfriend comments were attribute to his friend, a PR girl. Not to say that he wasn't in on it, but because he didn't make the comments he'll be able (in his mind) to deny the re-closeting in the future.

by Anonymousreply 5105/05/2013

They should call this film The Bottom Crow.

by Anonymousreply 5305/05/2013

Btw, the Cam4 video(s) makes me think we'd get on very well in the bedroom.

by Anonymousreply 5405/05/2013
After weeks of this going on (and an edit war going on over at Wikipedia)

Yes, this was the other annoying thing. Anytime anyone would edit his Wikipedia page by mentioning the Advocate article (even if it was just a simple mention that Evans had done an interview with the Advocate, not even a mention that he said he was gay), the edit would almost immediately be undone. Sometimes, this back and forth would happen several times in a single day. Many of the people who tried to insert the reference to the Advocate article (an article that is publicly available on the Web) were banned from Wikipedia. This went on for MONTHS.

by Anonymousreply 5505/05/2013

I agree. I understand disapproving of what's he's doing. But it bugs me that there's all this in-fighting over guys like Evans as if they're the orchestrators of this social problem (homophobia), rather than examples of it. I know "coming out" has contributed immensely to the enormous turnaround in public opinion, but I think people take it too far in criticising indibual cases like Evans (though I agree he is a somewhat special case).

by Anonymousreply 5705/05/2013

Exactly, R56 - who gives a fuck? You're not going to force him out of the closet, so get off DL and do some charity work or something constructive.

by Anonymousreply 5805/05/2013

so very many closet cases...

by Anonymousreply 5905/05/2013

Oh my motherfucking god, I didn't know all this. That beggars belief. I'm actually shocked by this.

I thought doing the bearding thing and not saying anything was bad enough, but this is vile and shameful.

by Anonymousreply 6005/05/2013

R59, just because I don't want to force everyone to be out doesn't mean I am not. I happen to have respect for a persons ability to live how they see fit.

by Anonymousreply 6105/05/2013

I do, too, r61, as long as the person isn't doing harm to other gays or to the gay community. Unfortunately, I think Luke Evans crossed that line and deserves to be called out for it. It's one thing to never come out, but to come out and then go back in the closet sends a horrible message.

by Anonymousreply 6205/05/2013

I'm sorry, but anybody who is gay and denies to the public that he is and even goes as far as getting a beard deserves to be outed. They are contributing to the problem.

by Anonymousreply 6305/05/2013

What's really awful about this pussy closet case is that it makes straight people (especially delusional fangurls) believe that being gay IS a choice and that people can change their sexuality (even though this asshole said 10 years ago he was completely gay).

People like this should not be supported. They do a lot of harm.

by Anonymousreply 6505/05/2013
What's really awful about this pussy closet case is that it makes straight people (especially delusional fangurls) believe that being gay IS a choice and that people can change their sexuality (even though this asshole said 10 years ago he was completely gay).

Yes, he's really THAT influential.

by Anonymousreply 6605/05/2013

Well, r67, I may be a fuck nugget, but at least I'm an out and proud fuck nugget. I'm not ashamed of who I am.

by Anonymousreply 6805/05/2013

He can go fuck himself.

by Anonymousreply 6905/05/2013

It will be interesting to see what happens if/when he becomes more well known. At the moment he seems to be avoiding the subject of his sexuality but I doubt that's going to work in the future.

by Anonymousreply 7005/05/2013

Oh puleeze, people!

There are tons of A-list actors and those that are well known, and NONE OF THEM report as GAY!!!

Don't you think there are many closet cases amongst them?

Yet, you want to harp on ONE up and coming actor, whom most people don't know. You want to cut him at the knees, because he did or is doing what the A-listers have done and continue to do.

Why isn't there a thread about John Travolta, closet case? Tom Cruise? Bradley Cooper?

Anyway, this makes no sense. You are mad the person and not at the system. Hollywood is made up of many gays, behind and in front of the camera.

You need to attack the decision makers, not the employees, who must tow the company line.

by Anonymousreply 7105/06/2013
I've also heard he's a great guy from people, if occasionally a little full of himself. I've no problem with him being 'out' or 'in'.

More importantly, where's the Cam4 video? Pics are already out so you just know the video of him wanking his 8 incher is going to hit sometime.
That wasn't Luke Evans, since he has no southern accent nor tattoo.

by Anonymousreply 7205/06/2013

Erm, R71, none of those A-Listers previously came out in a magazine interview before backtracking when they became famous. Very very different cases.

by Anonymousreply 7305/06/2013

Closeted and creepy.

by Anonymousreply 7405/06/2013
That wasn't Luke Evans, since he has no southern accent nor tattoo.

Must try harder. His Cam4 shenanigans go back to his musical theatre days.

He likes to perform - no shame in that :)

by Anonymousreply 7505/06/2013

He should have just left things as they were instead of trying to beard and backtrack. The articles are there in black and white. Now, someone is always going to preface him as 'closet case'.

by Anonymousreply 7605/06/2013

The sad thing is that they've accomplished part of their goal. They weren't successful in getting it scrubbed off Wikipedia, but when it comes to how the media will treat him and how he's portrayed, no one is going to dare mention the "g" word. If he does talk about relationships, it will be with women, and he'll never be challenged on that or asked why. For all intents and purposes, he's now closeted.

by Anonymousreply 7705/06/2013

[R72] Not sure what you're talking about. The one I saw had no tattoo and no audio track, but that was his face alright - the guy made no qualms about showing his mug when he could have easily kept it out of the frame.

[R75] I've only seen the one, do tell if he does more than a quick wank.

by Anonymousreply 7805/06/2013

I can't imagine him talking about relationships with women again - it just made him look ridiculous last time. I think he's trying for the glass closet now.

by Anonymousreply 7905/06/2013

He's a pathetic asshole. I boycott all his movies!

by Anonymousreply 8005/06/2013

How dare you!

by Anonymousreply 8205/06/2013

Ooops, sorry, I typed too fast.

by Anonymousreply 8305/06/2013

R81 You are straight and very narrow if you don't understand how "visible" gay people are important for the entire community.

by Anonymousreply 8405/06/2013

Someone posted this on IMDB:

It's not a "private" matter when he does a public interview and talks about having a boyfriend and being openly gay.

What it is, is hypocritical that he talks about not hiding and being proud, yet as soon as his career starts going well starts hiding behind this "I don't talk about my private life" shamefulness.

And it is shameful. You have teens killing themselves because they are ashamed of who they are, and Luke Evans just adds to society's perception that being homosexual is something you should be ashamed of.

by Anonymousreply 8505/06/2013

Disagree, no one forces these guys to lie. They're arrogant bastards who believe they can fool everybody.

by Anonymousreply 8705/07/2013

Well, he ain't fooling Henry Cavill. He's tapping that for sure.

by Anonymousreply 8805/07/2013

I love that the PR person put both of them together for this interview

by Anonymousreply 8905/07/2013

Homosexuals are men who, in 15 years of trying, can't get a pissant anti-discrimination bill through City Council. They are men who know nobody, and who nobody knows.

by Anonymousreply 9105/07/2013

by Anonymousreply 9205/07/2013

So why an NBA man can be out? But not some Z list movie queen?

by Anonymousreply 9405/10/2013

Because fangurls don't like that we spoil their sex dreams.

by Anonymousreply 9505/10/2013

This thread isn't about Michelle Rodriguez!

by Anonymousreply 9605/10/2013

But girls like gay guys, R95.

by Anonymousreply 9705/10/2013

I'd much prefer: but girls like OUT gay guys. What about Andy Cooper?

by Anonymousreply 9805/10/2013

Andy Cooper, r100.

by Anonymousreply 10005/14/2013

She's more interesting though r96.

by Anonymousreply 10105/14/2013
So why an NBA man can be out? But not some Z list movie queen?

That's what I'm wondering. Not like he'll ever be a "star". He'll be lucky to have an Alan Cumming type career.

by Anonymousreply 10205/14/2013

R90 = Typical retarded fangurl.

by Anonymousreply 10305/14/2013

Leave Luke Evans alone! You're just jealous, r104.

by Anonymousreply 10405/14/2013

R104 R105 as well, I think. Poor deluded fangurls. If they knew what these closeted cowards think of them. Haha

by Anonymousreply 10505/15/2013

Ok Luke, Now keep calm.

by Anonymousreply 10705/15/2013

R101/R105/R109 = Same deluded fangurl

by Anonymousreply 10905/15/2013

I think that the deluded fangurl is Luke himself. Haha

by Anonymousreply 11005/16/2013

F&F the dumb straight fangurl at R86/R88/R93/R100/R107/R112

So sick of straight cunts coming on this site with their bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 11305/16/2013

R114 I couldn't agree more.

by Anonymousreply 11405/16/2013

Not sure if I've posted this before...but Wikipedia has stopped censoring Luke's page when it comes to his sexuality. So anyone who looks him up can now see that he's outed himself in the public domain and there isn't some psycho PR freak trying to hide it anymore ;)

Not sure why they stopped but I'm glad they did. It's on permanent record and trying to hide it was futile.

by Anonymousreply 11705/16/2013

Link, please.

by Anonymousreply 11805/16/2013

r118, the way it reads now, it sounds like he "changed" his sexuality from gay to straight.

During his early career, Evans openly identified as gay. In a 2002 interview, he said "[E]verybody knew me as a gay man, and in my life in London I never tried to hide it" and that by being open he would not have "that skeleton in the closet they can rattle out".[10] In 2004, he said that his acting career had not suffered by being out.[11]

In September 2010, Evans was romantically linked with a female PR executive who stated, "Luke's lovely – we're really old friends and it just sort of happened. ... We are nowhere near engaged but things are really good."[12]

by Anonymousreply 12005/16/2013

[R121] That is a point...Still, it's not outright denial anymore. It's a start.

by Anonymousreply 12105/16/2013

R120 = Orlando Bloom fangurl.

by Anonymousreply 12205/16/2013

I love how people think they can order people into doing something that might be a detriment to their careers.

So, let's say Luke does what you want, and his career sinks to the sewer. How does that help the cause?

He wouldn't be high-profile to speak.

Wouldn't it be better, if the decision makers of Hollywood actually changed thing on the screen?

I say this, because I haven't seen any out person making changes in Hollywood nor do I see them having these big careers.

by Anonymousreply 12305/17/2013

R124 Obviously, you're another closet case.

by Anonymousreply 12405/17/2013

At this point, R124, staying in the closet is doing more harm than good to Luke's career in the long term. He just comes off as a coward and a douche.

by Anonymousreply 12505/17/2013

R124 Who's trying to order Luke to do anything? He already came out of his own accord. Maybe he regrets that now, but he can't undo it. All the fake girlfriend story did is make him look stupid.

by Anonymousreply 12605/17/2013

Jesus, he's got no package at all.

by Anonymousreply 12705/30/2013

How many cocks he sucks a night?

by Anonymousreply 12805/30/2013

His cock is actually very nice. Not especially long, but girthy.

by Anonymousreply 12905/30/2013

What a hunk! His Welsh accent is sexy. Shame about the closeting business.

by Anonymousreply 13005/30/2013

He's on the record being openly gay.

How does he beard? He takes a PR chick to premieres, so what? If he really wanted to beard, he'd be married to an actress.

The rumor about him being engaged originated on twitter. Just so ya know

by Anonymousreply 13105/30/2013

Hunk my ass. He looks like shit up close without makeup on and old as hell for only 34.

by Anonymousreply 13205/30/2013

He has lost too much weight. Looked best in "Tamara Drewe"

by Anonymousreply 13305/30/2013

Saw him in Fast & Furious 6 last weekend; the big screen does not do him favors -- he looks much older than 34 and lacks that 'it' factor that big screen stars need.

by Anonymousreply 13405/30/2013

Yeah, he does look kinda old for his age.

by Anonymousreply 13505/30/2013

Oh, he ate a hamburger or two, because his face filled out.

Below is a video of him, and he's turned back father time.

by Anonymousreply 13605/31/2013

Here's a recent still shot.

by Anonymousreply 13705/31/2013

Here's a recent shot.

by Anonymousreply 13805/31/2013

He's actually quite handsome.

by Anonymousreply 13905/31/2013

He's creepy as hell.

by Anonymousreply 14005/31/2013

I agree, he is handsome. There is something quite seductive about him.

by Anonymousreply 14105/31/2013

He'a a coward and a liar.

by Anonymousreply 14205/31/2013

R143 Can we honestly blame him? Wouldn't you want to have a great career in the movies? Yeah, it's ridiculous that he went back into the closet after coming out, but the reality is that Hollywood wouldn't let him have it all. He had to choose. I'm sure it doesn't make him too happy. WE want them to be out and successful, but show me an out A-lister. Yeah, exactly. Sucks, but what can you do.

by Anonymousreply 14305/31/2013

Bollocks. And he's no a-lister.

by Anonymousreply 14405/31/2013

R144, didn't say Luke was an A-lister, but he is surely on his way, with two starring roles in two major upcoming movies not to mention his big parts in the TWO Hobbit sequels.

What R144 said is that s/he does not know an Out A-lister, meaning that if Luke is striving to become one, he'll have to follow the playbook.

by Anonymousreply 14506/01/2013
There is something quite seductive about him.
I know. Even the interviewer was tripping out and pretty much thinking the same thing.

by Anonymousreply 14606/01/2013

Zachary is an a-lister and a man with balls, Luke Evans is just being pathetic trying to in himself.

by Anonymousreply 14706/01/2013

That's why his Cam4 exploits are so interesting. He continued to appear there AFTER his movie career had taken off. It's like he wants to be outed.

by Anonymousreply 14806/01/2013

Zachary is not an A-lister, check out the definition of one.

Here's a quick one: a household name that can headline and fill seats in a theater.

by Anonymousreply 14906/01/2013

By your definition Luke Evans is definitely not an a-lister, then.

by Anonymousreply 15006/01/2013

Geez, how lame can you be, if you can't be bothered to re-read what was written.

by Anonymousreply 15106/01/2013

R151 Is that really hard to get what R144 was saying? He didn't say Evans is an A-list, you gay emotional idiot!

by Anonymousreply 15206/01/2013

GAY emotional idiot? You can do better, frau.

He's an average actor but, above all, he's a coward and a liar. Ok?

by Anonymousreply 15306/01/2013

R154 I was talking about how slow you are, idiot.

by Anonymousreply 15406/01/2013

Better a coward and an average PAID actor than an idiot, who can's read, right?

Nor, can he admit he read wrong, and that's why I second R153, you're an idiot, indeed.

by Anonymousreply 15506/01/2013

R154, no he wants to deflect his fault and start harping on another complaint about an actor, when he needs to work on himself.

I just cannot stand when poster want to blow up on something, that they didn't read right in the first place.

When they are called out on it, they can't admit they read wrong.

What's so hard about that?

by Anonymousreply 15606/01/2013

R155 Never as much as you are, king of idiots and probably another closeted case.

by Anonymousreply 15706/01/2013

So slow and emotional she even thinks Zachary Quinto is an A-lister...seriously, how old are these so called "anti-cowards & liars" here? Most of them sound like a dumb broken record.

by Anonymousreply 15806/01/2013

Can you cunts quit fighting so we can get back to trashing Luke?

by Anonymousreply 15906/01/2013

R159 clearly, another closeted one.

by Anonymousreply 16006/01/2013

R160 Yep, you're right. Let's trash Luke.

by Anonymousreply 16106/01/2013

I'm not going to trash Luke. He's not doing anything that 50% of actors are already doing in the business.

by Anonymousreply 16206/01/2013

Why spend time trashing someone, who merely wants to work?

Saying he is gay is one thing, but to destroy someone I'm not going to do.

by Anonymousreply 16306/01/2013

He was extremely attractive in F&F6.

by Anonymousreply 16406/01/2013

Actually, he is, R163. It's one thing to stay closeted during your career. It's entirely different to be out as a gay actor at one point, giving interviews saying how much you love cock, and then go back into the closet, and even start bearding! It's disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 16506/01/2013

Nobody wants to destroy him. He has just to be honest and stop this charade about being straight.

by Anonymousreply 16606/01/2013

I just love how people feel as if he owes the public anything.

As the saying goes, he doesn't really have to do anything but pay taxes and die.

by Anonymousreply 16706/01/2013

Love that video on R147, and he was sexy in F6, as much as he could be.

I thought he and Michelle Rodriguez had great chemistry.

by Anonymousreply 16806/01/2013

R166 Totally agree. It's disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 16906/01/2013

R146 Exactly what I was saying!

by Anonymousreply 17006/01/2013

Don't blame Luke. Blame all the directors, producers, casting agents that want nothing to do with openly gay actors.

Quinto used to nab a part or two a year but since he came out, he hasn't nabbed one movie part. Not even small one.

by Anonymousreply 17106/01/2013

Yep, you're right, STID is definitely a very, very small and low budget film. (at least in your nightmares)

by Anonymousreply 17206/01/2013

R172 It's true. But I feel like Quinto is not a good example here. Sure it's a huge franchise movie, but would anyone cast him as a romantic lead? He wasn't before, so it's difficult to say really.

by Anonymousreply 17306/01/2013

Everybody says that Quinto won't get a (non-psycho) romantic role because he's out, I say it's because his looks just doesn't fit in that kind of role.

by Anonymousreply 17406/01/2013

Romantic roles are so overrated and boring.

Who's doing them? Gerarld Butler, maybe. Not a shining example of successful actor.

by Anonymousreply 17506/01/2013

R173 Star Trek 2 was filming prior to his coming out.

r174 I'm not talking about romantic roles. He isn't getting ANY roles. No openly gay actors in Hollywood do.

by Anonymousreply 17606/01/2013

It's not true and maybe the best example that an out gay actor can be cast in huge productions is Ian McKellen.

by Anonymousreply 17706/01/2013

r178 That's the ONLY example and his work has all been limited to Lord Of The rings stuff. He's so strapped for cash now that he has to do a low grade British gay sitcom.

by Anonymousreply 17806/01/2013

Ian McKellen stripped for cash. Haha, this is the best joke of the day/week/month...

by Anonymousreply 17906/01/2013

You have to be kidding, r179. Ian McKellen, who has had starring roles in the LOTR, X-Men, and The Hobbit film franchises, all of which are billion-dollar smashes, is strapped for cash. You are a special kind of idiot, aren't you?

by Anonymousreply 18006/01/2013

R181 I think that R179 wants, very badly, to deny that a talented out actor can be extremely successful, typical of the closeted cases.

by Anonymousreply 18106/01/2013

Maybe I should have said strapped for work instead of "cash strapped". He clearly doesn't have work or else he wouldn't be doing that gay show.

His work is all linked to Lord Of The Rings with the exception of the small part he plays in the upcoming Xmen film.

What other gay actors work in film? ZERO. Unless you count Neil Patrick Harris in the Smurfs or voice over roles.

Hell, even gay roles in film are played by straight actors.

by Anonymousreply 18206/01/2013
Quinto used to nab a part or two a year but since he came out, he hasn't nabbed one movie part. Not even small one.
Star Trek 2 was filming prior to his coming out.[R174] I'm not talking about romantic roles. He isn't getting ANY roles. No openly gay actors in Hollywood do.

This line of discussion ought to be further developed as Quinto is the only young, out, male, MOVIE actor who is currently high profile (why people continue to tout old, non-leading man, character actor McKellan as the best example of an actor for whom being out didn't damage his movie career is puzzling and desperate as he falls into a different demographic category for both movie-makers and movie goers). However, now people are saying that since coming out, Quinto's movie offers have dried up. Others say that it has nothing to do with his sexuality, and it's better attributed to his "unusual" looks.

So, which is it, people? Frankly, if one removes Quinto's Spock garb, I believe that he's an attractive man -- certainly, no less attractive than the other guys his age who are being hired for leading man types of roles. On HEROES, he even had a brief arc in which he romanced one of the main female characters (yes, I know that that's television. My point is that he was believable when doing so). Using his looks as an argument for offers drying up is a poor explanation.

Thus, to what can his current dry spell be attributed? It's analogous to the chicken/egg saying... Which came first? Being out or not being leading man material? Are apologists using his looks because they don't want to acknowledge that there may have been a negative consequence to coming out, or -- when removing his STAR TREK franchise -- were Quinto's opportunities limited regardless of his sexuality?

by Anonymousreply 18306/01/2013

Quinto is working steadily, the person who says he's not working is the same that says that Ian McKellen is strapped for cash. It's a question of talent and intelligence not of sexual orientation.

by Anonymousreply 18406/01/2013

R185 He works in THEATER. The one small film part he has was announced months before his coming out and he has no other projects.

by Anonymousreply 18506/01/2013

You know Quinto troll, I wish I had the small parts he has. Now I get that R181 was right, you are a special kind of idiot.

by Anonymousreply 18606/01/2013

"You know Quinto troll, I wish I had the small parts he has. "

Correction: Had

by Anonymousreply 18706/01/2013

Haha, we know you are a closeted case, too.

by Anonymousreply 18806/01/2013

Same with Matt Bomer. He had parts in In Time, Magic Mike, and got a role in a collin farrell movie.

Now it's been about 15-16 months since he came out and he has landed NO parts.

by Anonymousreply 18906/01/2013

I'm not familiar with Matt but Zachary is 9th on the IMDB rank, not so bad for an actor "who's not working".

by Anonymousreply 19006/01/2013

r191 That just proves my point even more.

by Anonymousreply 19106/01/2013

Haha, you're out of your mind.

by Anonymousreply 19206/01/2013

Re: Sir Ian McKellan. He does whatever roles take his fancy. Around 2005 he did a stint on Coronation Street - a soap. He certainly wasn't strapped for cash as it was not too Long after TLOTR and around the time of the first X Men movie. He probably decided to do Vicious because it looked fun and he'd be working alongside Sir Derek Jacobi.

by Anonymousreply 19306/01/2013

R192, I'm not sure if you're a troll or not.. but I'm gonna go with not, just for the sake of it. If he didn't want to come out, he shouldn't have come out.. easy as that. You can't just take it back. It doesn't work like that. I know he probably didn't think about a big Hollywood career at that point, but so what? You can't keep defending him. It's not possible to take back something as frank as "I love big dicks". He made his choice by coming out that time. It may cause some inconvenience at this point in his career, no doubt about it. But he should just own up to it. There is such a thing as having morals.

Heck.. I'd even have at least some respect for him if he only said "no comment", basically being in the glass closet. But he hasn't done that.. he's hinted at the fact that he likes girls and he's even had beards! Maybe if he was never out, or maybe if he just went back into the glass closet, it wouldn't be half as bad as it is now. It's just the way he's done it.. from being an open and proud gay man, talking about cocks. Then, tasting a bit of success, goes back into the closet, beard up, and sell his morals just like that. Just for some money. I'm sorry, but "him wanting a big movie career" doesn't cut it. It's not a valid excuse. He's a dick. He sold his soul for money. That's a fact. What he did was appalling and I can't believe people here are defending him! wtf?!?

by Anonymousreply 19406/01/2013

r190, Bomer got all those roles AFTER he came out.

by Anonymousreply 19506/01/2013

r196 no he didn't. He hasn't gotten anything since he came out. he booked all those jobs prior.

by Anonymousreply 19606/01/2013

You are pathetic. Remember to lend some money to the "poor" ian McKellen, frau troll.

by Anonymousreply 19706/02/2013

I wish Bomer got a big leading role in a movie to prove that it's possible after all. It's a shame. If I had to choose, I'd rather all these actors didn't come out, if it meant we got to see them get great parts. What good is an out Bradley Cooper or Luke Evans if they are not on the screen.

by Anonymousreply 19806/02/2013

I so agree with you, r199; I just don't want to see or hear about such perversions.

by Anonymousreply 19906/02/2013

R200, nasty hom, ophobic scuum! Rot in hell you dirty pig!

by Anonymousreply 20006/02/2013

Bomer has been known to be gay since White Collar started. So yes, he has, secured parts in film after that point.

I don't think Quinto counts because I don't think that he is really hoping to be an A list film star. He has always worked more in TV and Theater. The argument that he isn't successful in film since he came out, is to quote Spock, illogical and invalid. There simply isn't enough information to determine if that is true.

First we would need evidence that he wants to be an A list film star, then we need evidence to support that he was primed for that to happen prior to coming out.

Well already we have a fly in the ointment of your assertions because Quinto was not on the brink of A list film status. He had ST, but outside of that he wasn't in many films, Margin call was his other somewhat big film.

Even if he had not come out, I doubt he was going to become an A list film star. and I further doubt that he wants that.

None of his interviews support that, he has lots of friends and colleagues in TV, He does a lot of indie short films and he loves to theater.

He has even hinted at wanting to work as a musician. I think he likes doing a variety of things and doesn't just want to be a film star. His friend and co-star Chris Pine on the other hand, really is looking for mostly just Film work. He likes theater too, but I think he is hoping his career trajectory is headed towards A-B list film star with occasion theater or indie work.

Zach's career is not derailed by being out. He has the career he wants.

Stop assuming that for actors, the only sign of success and fulfillment is to be a major Film star.

In actuality, the shortest shelf life for most actors is Film. Where as versatile actors who work in several mediums are the ones with longer, more varied careers.
