Greenwich Village Eatery

Three friends are coming to Manhattan on Wednesday. Want to have lunch at a "nice Village restaurant." All in their mid-60s. Any suggestions?

Garage on 7th & Grove.

Right around the corner is The Monster, aka God's Waiting Room. They'll love singing 'round the piano!

OP here. Thanks for your suggestions. When we met one friend had heard that Gene's on 11th Street was "excellent." It looks like a 1950s film noir set. Prix Fixe lunch $22.95. Average food. When we left there were 28 patrons, all grey or bald. My friends want to go back.

Phipps Fountain and Tea Room, the village location on Charles St. Their food always tastes so different, I don't know what they do to it?

Agree about August. Will add Mary's Fish Camp, Blue Ribbon Bakery, Fedora, and Buvette.
