Want a new Zach Braff movie? Pay for it!

He's doing the Kickstarter thing that Veronica Mars did so well.

The movie will also star Jim Parsons (who was also in Garden State), and they both appear in the welcome video:

Ugh, he must make enough money from the endless airings of "Scrubs" - why can't he just finance it on his own?

by Anonymousreply 104/24/2013

Does he show his big dick in this?

by Anonymousreply 204/24/2013

I wouldn't see his cheesy shit if I was getting paid.

by Anonymousreply 304/24/2013

"Wish I Was Here" is the story of Aidan Bloom (played by me), a struggling actor, father and husband, who at 35 is still trying to find his identity; a purpose for his life. He and his wife are barely getting by financially and Aidan passes his time by fantasizing about being the great futuristic Space-Knight he'd always dreamed he'd be as a little kid.

God damn that sounds terrible. And what a fucking horrible title. No wonder he has to beg for money from his fans

by Anonymousreply 404/24/2013

I liked Garden State. It had a great cast and was a lot of fun.

Brad as become a lot more obnoxious since then. He's hoe from endearing to grating, but if his fans want to help him ake not her movie, good for them.

by Anonymousreply 504/24/2013

At this rate he'll probably get it, but it just feels gross to ask people to kick in money for a low-budget movie that he could finance himself (or with Parsons who's on a hit tv show).

I think Rosie taught everyone that you don't pay for these things out of your own pocket.

by Anonymousreply 904/24/2013

Can I pay to have him NOT in any film, ever?

by Anonymousreply 1004/24/2013

He was good in Oz.

by Anonymousreply 1104/24/2013

The two cardinal rules of producing. One: Never put your own money in the show.

And two...

NEVER PUT YOUR OWN MONEY IN THE SHOW!

by Anonymousreply 1204/24/2013

It's over $1 million.

by Anonymousreply 1304/24/2013

By indie standards Garden State was a blockbuster. I find it baffling he hasn't been able to get funding for anything since.

We're going to be inundated with these Kickstarter projects now. Instead of paying the cost of a ticket for a movie, you can "invest" considerably more and watch the filmmakers take the profits.

by Anonymousreply 1404/24/2013

Like him or not, he's going to go way past his $2M goal. You can actually see the pledges rise as you watch the vid.

by Anonymousreply 1504/24/2013

Lord these suckers who give money on Kickstarter are unbelievable and to a MULTI MULTI millionaire like Braff?

by Anonymousreply 1604/24/2013

Not true. On the Veronica MArs Kickstarter, for the cost of a movie ticket and some pocorn, you got a t-shirt, a script AND a copy of the movie.

by Anonymousreply 1704/24/2013

He is approaching his goal fast. Braff can afford it himself but he turns to his much poorer fans for help? No thanks. Plus, I don't want to see Donald Faison's obnoxiousness in anything.

by Anonymousreply 1804/24/2013

Insufferable.

Still, admit it. It sounds like a great Steve Guttenberg movie from 1988!

by Anonymousreply 1904/24/2013

It sounds like every POS Peter Pan straight man-child "comedy" Judd Apatow and his ilk ever spawned. Why is this such a moment for hideous, immature straight men? Will it ever end?

by Anonymousreply 2004/24/2013

I'm going to start a Kickstarter to not have this dopey movie made.

by Anonymousreply 2104/24/2013

I'm all for it if Jim Parsons appears nude. Full frontal.

by Anonymousreply 2204/24/2013

Braff tweeted that he is putting "TONS" of how own money into the project, as well.

by Anonymousreply 2304/25/2013

I'm starting a kickstarter campaign for my new throw pillows!!

Please contribute! You can help pick the hues!

by Anonymousreply 2404/25/2013

Caved. I like Jim Parsons and the last line of the video felt very sincere.

by Anonymousreply 2504/25/2013

Braff has a nice ass. I saw him a couple of years ago in that play he wrote/starred in which was fucking brilliant. Now I'd love if a movie were made of THAT.

by Anonymousreply 2604/25/2013

I'm starting a Kickstarter campaign to pay off my student loans.

by Anonymousreply 2704/25/2013

If I had money to waste, I'd rather finance a revamp of She's The Sheriff.

by Anonymousreply 2804/25/2013

[quote] a struggling actor, father and husband, who at 35 is still trying to find his identity;

The only thing more pitiful and shameless than begging for money for vanity projects with you're a multimillionaire, is attempting to play 30-somethings when you're well into your 40s.

Rest, Mary.

by Anonymousreply 2904/25/2013

Zach is so yesterday. Today it's all about the mopey guy from How I Met Your Mother and his shitty man-child movies.

by Anonymousreply 3004/25/2013

Braff is 38. And he's putting a lot of his own money into it.

The movie sounds lame.

by Anonymousreply 3104/25/2013

Doesn't it defeat the purpose of Kickstarter when people like David Fincher are using it to finance a movie? I thought it would be more about helping new indie directors.

by Anonymousreply 3204/25/2013

Never put your own money in the show.
