Call the FBI.
OMG! It just dawned on me! Where the hell are Steve and Eydie?
|by Anonymous||reply 47||04/25/2013|
Amazingly they are still alive. She retired in 09 but Steve is still out there...
|by Anonymous||reply 1||04/23/2013|
He is no longer having an affair with Sally Ann Howes.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||04/23/2013|
RE 2 - Please tell more. Never heard that before. Also, anyone know what their son does ? I remember their other son died years ago, from some unknown ailment, suddenly. They really are 2 old school singers - surprised to hear she retired - did her voice go ? She was quite something in the day.

R3: son (David) is a doll. He is a music composer, married, adorable child (adopted) and they lived happily ever after.

Someone was watching the Today Show this morning...
|by Anonymous||reply 5||04/23/2013|
Blame it on the bossa nova
|by Anonymous||reply 6||04/23/2013|
Although I don't know whether they mentioned it on the Today Show this morning (or any other morning), Steve Lawrence and Sally Ann Howes began an affair while appearing together in "What Makes Sammy Run," which opened in 1964. The affair almost broke up his marriage. Her marriage to Richard Adler (Pajama Game, Damn Yankees, and vehicles for Howes) continued until 1966.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||04/23/2013|
What was on the Today Show, R5?
|by Anonymous||reply 8||04/23/2013|
Oh, it was nothing. Steve Martin and Edie Brickell (sic?) were on, performing a song this morning and Matt Lauer introduced them jokingly as "Steve and Edie".
Martin and Brickell were really great, incidentally.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||04/23/2013|
That must have been why Eydie insisted on being cast as Steve's costar in his next Broadway foray Golden Rainbow.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||04/23/2013|
Good riddance. They used to get on my last nerve. When they were on Carol Burnett's show, I would change the channel. Awful.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||04/23/2013|
PBS aired a Jerry Lewis performance in Vegas (I think) about a couple months ago. Jerry was taking Q & A from the audience and Steve came up to the mic to ask questions and schmooze with Jerry. I'll tell you, he looked great! His hair was dyed but I chose to overlook that. He looked and sounded like he could still do the Carol Burnett Show.
He did not sing but Jerry did tell him that Sinatra used to tell Jerry that Steve was the best singer of his day.
I actually miss Steve and Eydie. And Sammy.

Where the hell is Eydie Gorme?
In DIXIELAND, silly!
|by Anonymous||reply 13||04/23/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 14||04/23/2013|
They play a lot of their stuff on the Siriusly Sinatra channel. Eydie really did have a terrific voice.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||04/23/2013|
Eydie is a really sweet woman. She was friends with my mother in the 1960s and 1970s, and was just a nice, swell woman.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||04/23/2013|
Steve was a great lay who was incredibly skilled with his fat hog.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||04/23/2013|
Who'd have ever thought Truly Scrumptous was a dirty whore? Is nothing sacred?
|by Anonymous||reply 18||04/23/2013|
Eydie is older than Steve, and I heard she was doing rather poorly. She is a super talent!
|by Anonymous||reply 19||04/23/2013|
One time Streisand was asked in an interview who SHE admired as a singer---since she had the voice of a generation. She mentioned the girl, Tennille, from Captain and Tennille and Eydie Gorme.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||04/23/2013|
Cute clip, R14.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||04/24/2013|
Ever hear her sing in Spanish?-Her songs are so beautiful and romantic. You can hear them on youtube. Liza beat her out for the lead in Flora The Red Menace.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||04/24/2013|
My parents have an LP of Eydie called "Eydie In Love", arranged and conducted by Don Costa, who did many things with Sinatra.
It's an original album, not a reissue. Great album.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||04/24/2013|
What did they have they don't have now?
|by Anonymous||reply 24||04/24/2013|
more shoulder more shoulder
|by Anonymous||reply 25||04/24/2013|
How many of us have fingered our pussies to an Eydie Gorme album? Be honest.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||04/24/2013|
Love them!! She's not well... can hardly walk. Hip or knee problems.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||04/24/2013|
"One time Streisand was asked in an interview who SHE admired as a singer---since she had the voice of a generation. She mentioned the girl, Tennille, from Captain and Tennille and Eydie Gorme."
Absolute bullshit. Streisand NEVER gives credit to other singers or tells the truth about being influenced by any of them. Most she would say is liking folk singer Joni James as a teen. Streisand even used a famous arrangement of "Snowbound" written for Sarah Vaughan, and she wouldn't mention Sarah's name.
Eydie, big number:
|by Anonymous||reply 28||04/24/2013|
"Eydie is older than Steve"
Yeah, at least six years -- and they married when he was 22!
|by Anonymous||reply 29||04/24/2013|
She did the defninitive version of "If He Walked Into My Life Today".
|by Anonymous||reply 30||04/24/2013|
Slow night in Farmville, OP?
|by Anonymous||reply 31||04/24/2013|
I saw Steve and Eydie open for Sinatra in 1992. They were in great voice and were pretty funny. I enjoyed them more than Sinatra.
|by Anonymous||reply 32||04/24/2013|
r31...thinks they are a sophisticate because they rent a one bedroom in Astoria.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||04/24/2013|
R28, I don't appreciate being called a liar just because you didn't happen to see the Streisand interview I saw. You are obviously a flake.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||04/24/2013|
R28, r33 is absolutely correct about this. And besides, if you learned to read comprehensively you'd see he did not say that Streisand was influenced by ANYBODY, merely that she enjoyed two other female singers whom she named.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||04/24/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 36||04/24/2013|
[quote][R31]...thinks they are a sophisticate because they rent a one bedroom in Astoria.
R33, if you want to insult R31, please get your grammatical house in order. "They are a sophisticate"? Who is "they"? Steve and Eydie? Surely it can't be R31, who is one person. And Steve and Eydie can't be a single sophisticate. So there is no way your sentence could make sense. That vitiates the effect of trying to denigrate R31. Why not just accuse him of having a small penis?
|by Anonymous||reply 37||04/25/2013|
R4, is a "music composer" something like a music pianist or a music flute player?
|by Anonymous||reply 38||04/25/2013|
No, R38, composer means writer or creator or constructor. Kind of a simple concept. I have no idea if he plays any instrument however even if he did that is not what he's know for.
Tidbit at the link: Neil Sedaka is his cousin.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||04/25/2013|
I've always told friends to make sure, Blame It On The Bossa Nova, is played at my funeral. Not kidding.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||04/25/2013|
Their son Michael died in the 80's of a heart attack caused by some heart defect. I felt so sad for them at the time. They were so distraught.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||04/25/2013|
So they have one son who's a composer and another who's a decomposer?
|by Anonymous||reply 42||04/25/2013|
Steve Lawrence's real name = Sidney Liebowitz?
|by Anonymous||reply 43||04/25/2013|
Eydie's name is Edith Gamenzano.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||04/25/2013|
R35, Streisand never admitted to 'enjoying' any singer. She claims she doesn't even listen to music. Of course I think that bs.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||04/25/2013|
Stop, you're going to make me cum.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||04/25/2013|
[quote]Eydie's name is Edith Gamenzano.
I think it's Edith Gormezano
