Chase, Digger, Hunter, and Catch

You know what these are? These are the fucking first names of my nephews. Not nicknames, not middlenames, not imaginary names they gave themselves, but their real official first names.

I think it's ridiculous, and my mom is heartbroken over these stupid names ('Catch' being the most recent. My family is from New Jersey, but my sister went and married this rancher (whatever that is) from Oklahoma and moved down there. Now she is raising a full brood of rednecks. Awful, awful, awful!

What's wrong with Chase? That name's been around for eons. I'll grant you Catch, which is retarded, though.

by Anonymousreply 104/22/2013

You realize with those names, they're all going to wind up being in porn.

by Anonymousreply 204/22/2013

Chase, Digger, and Hunter are very old school, old money names. Catch is just stupid, though.

by Anonymousreply 304/22/2013

OP, we both know that you made your post up.

Please try harder next time.

by Anonymousreply 404/22/2013

No, not made up.

by Anonymousreply 504/22/2013

Those from New Jersey should not throw stones.

by Anonymousreply 704/22/2013

Sounds like a litter of hunting dogs.

by Anonymousreply 804/22/2013

sounds like OP is sarah palin

by Anonymousreply 904/22/2013

R9 Post of the day.

by Anonymousreply 1004/22/2013

Chase and Hunter are fairly common. Digger and Catch, however, are retarded.

by Anonymousreply 1104/22/2013

Yes, OP, New Jersey is the beacon of good taste.

by Anonymousreply 1204/22/2013

Chase and Hunter are fine.

by Anonymousreply 1304/22/2013

What's wrong with Knobert, Lugnut, & Toenail?

by Anonymousreply 1404/22/2013

A name should never be a verb. Yes, that means you, Tripp.

by Anonymousreply 1504/22/2013

I resent that remark, Miss Manners!

by Anonymousreply 1604/22/2013

The most disturbing redneck given names I've heard are Rowdy and Ruckus, but Catch and Digger are close.

by Anonymousreply 1704/22/2013

I actually like Catch. Hunter is a traditional preppy name that has been ruined by trash.

by Anonymousreply 1804/22/2013

What about Goofus and Gallant?

by Anonymousreply 1904/22/2013

Stop trying to make FETCH happen!

by Anonymousreply 2004/22/2013

I sort of like Digger.

by Anonymousreply 2104/22/2013

Thank you, R21.

by Anonymousreply 2204/22/2013

Agree that Chase and Hunter are fine, established names. Digger makes me think of "Dallas" (Digger Barnes); likewise, Chase makes me think of "Falcon Crest" (Chase Gioberti); Catch makes me think of a parody of those shows (the Gregory Harrison character in "Fresno" was named Torch, which I suspect is probably a baby's name somewhere in the United States).

by Anonymousreply 2304/22/2013

Too bad Henry Willson is not around to see this.

by Anonymousreply 2404/22/2013

Digger is Phelp's nickname. He's given name is Richard

by Anonymousreply 2504/22/2013

Dash Riprock's friend at Mammoth Studios was Bolt Upright.

by Anonymousreply 2604/22/2013

Are you a Romney OP?

by Anonymousreply 2704/22/2013

Nothing wrong with Chase

by Anonymousreply 2804/22/2013

Chase is rather posh.

by Anonymousreply 2904/22/2013

Five bucks that some schoolyard bully calls them Cunter and Snatch.

by Anonymousreply 3004/23/2013

Yeah I agree with the poster who said they sound like names for a litter of hunting dogs. I'm imagining a pack of coonhounds. If they add more pups to the brood they might try: Gunner, Cooper, Tracker, Duke, Bear, Buckshot, or Scrounger.

by Anonymousreply 3104/23/2013

I hope they all grow up to be bookish, artsy types with no interest in sports or the outdoors.

by Anonymousreply 3204/23/2013

Oh stop it! I'm laughing so hard at my own joke: "Catch Caught a Case of Crabs!" The mind boggles at what a life that youngster is going to live through.

by Anonymousreply 3304/23/2013

I'm assuming the last name isn't Abramovich.

by Anonymousreply 3404/23/2013

Doesn't she realize you and your mother have full and complete veto power over her name choices? These are your and your mother's children after all--not hers!

by Anonymousreply 3504/23/2013

They’re Soap Opera names, that's all.

by Anonymousreply 3604/23/2013

Digger isn't a name, it's either short for Digby or a nickname for a grave digger or undertaker.

Or a last name, like Cathy Digby the lady that won the Olympics and played Peter Pan and sister to JR Ewing.

by Anonymousreply 3704/23/2013

That's Cathy {bold]R[/bold]igby, you nit!

by Anonymousreply 3804/23/2013

I LOVE those names.
