WHET Maureen Teefy?

Can't believe she didn't get an Oscar nomination for her stunning performance as Doris Finsecker in FAME.

I heard she turned down the starring role in PRETTY WOMAN. Imagine if she had accepted the part. The 90's would have been all about Teefy.

Gary Morton talked her out of it.

by Anonymousreply 104/21/2013

She was already a 10 year has been by the time Pretty Woman came out.

She was in Grease 2 though.

by Anonymousreply 204/21/2013

Anne Meara should have got a Supporting Actress nomination (supposedly the studio tried to get her one according to another DL post.)

DON'T YOU KIDS EVER THINK OF ANYONE BUT YOURSELF!!

by Anonymousreply 304/22/2013

Maureen Teefy was a "10 year has been by the time Pretty Woman came out"????

And what the fuck does that make you, r2?

Maureen Teefy's credits include:

1941

Fame

Grease 2

Max Headroom

Supergirl

What credits do you have r2?

I'm of the opinion that Teefy is only now coming into her prime, and with the right role, could be vaulted back into the stratosphere of fame. For instance, if she had Julia Roberts' role in AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY. Or Tilda Swinton's role in I AM LOVE.

I met Maureen at a dinner w murual friends in the early 90s. She was married with kids and had pretty much given up acting.

What is this WHET thing I keep seeing on DL. You can't all be listening to the same radio station.

by Anonymousreply 604/22/2013

WHET is "what ever happened to" the misspelling is tradition.

and Maureen Teefy is 60! Play my daughter? Really?

by Anonymousreply 704/22/2013

She was cute but dear god, who did she sleep with to get cast in "Grease 2" when she can't carry a note to save her life. True, no one in that movie was a great singer, but her voice is a rake across a chalkboard.

Why yes M, unlike a certain matronly awards whore who fancies herself the Grand Dame of Acting with a capital A, I still have a youthful glow.

Pretentiousness causes saggy skin, don'tcha know?

by Anonymousreply 904/22/2013

Comeback? I think you have to arrived once in order to comeback.

by Anonymousreply 1004/22/2013

OH! I love Valerie Cherish! She was born too late and started too soon, or something like that.

by Anonymousreply 1104/22/2013

Fuck Valerie Cherish, let's refocus this discussion where it belongs.

On me.

by Anonymousreply 1204/22/2013

Paul McCrane was the real star of Fame. I tried to dress like him when I was in high school.

by Anonymousreply 1304/22/2013

Didn't she die from an overdose of her name?

I liked her a lot in "Fame" but how could that school have accepted her when she showed no talent whatsoever?

But they also seemed to have accepted the fat hula dancer.

Are auditions at that school really so disorganized and chaotic?

by Anonymousreply 1604/22/2013

Hey guys, any updates on La Teefy this evening? Thanks in advance.

by Anonymousreply 1704/22/2013

...hello...?

by Anonymousreply 1804/23/2013

WEHT, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO ?

WHET, WHAT HAPPENED EVER TO ?

KNOCK KNOCK. WHO'S THERE?

BABS's UVULA.

BABS's UVULA WHO ?

I DON'T KNOW BABS.

by Anonymousreply 1904/23/2013

Just checking in. This thread didn't take off quite like I thought it would. Any Teefy updates?

by Anonymousreply 2012/02/2013

Maureen deserved another Supporting nod for her nuanced work in Supergirl.

by Anonymousreply 2112/02/2013

I agree that the '90s should have been much more Teefy-centric.

by Anonymousreply 2212/03/2013

I loved her in Fame and Grease 2. Paul McCrane was boring and nothing to look at. It looks like she went the wife and kids route.

by Anonymousreply 2312/03/2013

Isn't her at a dinner twenty years ago. Had a hubby and kids, didn't seem too concerned about getting acting jobs anymore.

by Anonymousreply 2412/03/2013

[quote]True, no one in that movie was a great singer

Sorry, but Adrian Zmed and Lorna Luft have terrific voices.
