Seth MacFarlane Asked To Host Oscars Again in 2014

Seth MacFarlane has been asked to return as the host for the 2014 Academy Awards, sources exclusively reveal to

The 39-year-old Family Guy creator hosted this year’s ceremony to acclaim from many critics, but also caused controversy with some of the jokes he made throughout the show. Despite the controversy, the ratings for the 2013 Oscars ceremony were up significantly over the year before with 40.3 million viewers tuning in.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who hired Seth for this year’s show, will be returning to helm next year’s show as well.

“After defending his performance, the producers reached out to Seth and invited him back to host the show again,” sources close to the comedian tell exclusively. “He’s not sure if he’s going to do it, but he has to decide within the next couple of weeks.”

Seth previously tweeted that he would not host the Oscars if he were asked to do it again. We can’t wait to find out if he accepts the gig!

It's the end of the world as we know it.

by Miareply 104/19/2013

Good, he was awesome.

by Miareply 204/19/2013

I thought he was great, and ended the show early,

by Miareply 304/19/2013

He's funny as hell

by Miareply 404/19/2013

Why do they keep going with old farts?

Get someone under thirty, for shits sake.

by Miareply 504/19/2013

R5 - Belieber

by Miareply 604/19/2013

No one under thirty cares about Academy Awards....except fags.

by Miareply 704/19/2013

Countdown to Jane Fonda's pointless and hypocritical letter of complaint.

Great news.

He did a good job.

Too many idiots gave Seth needless grief last time.

I hope he accepts.

by Miareply 1004/19/2013

Unsurprising, since after Ricky Gervais was so insulting and obnoxious the first time hosting the GGs they still brought him back again because he increased the ratings.

Still, that does not take away from the fact that he, r2, r3, and r4 are cretins.

by Miareply 1104/19/2013

He gave so many interviews saying he'd never do it again, it will be interesting if he agrees to it.

by Miareply 1204/19/2013

If he accepts, it means even he has a price. So he'll be a whore who hosts the Oscars for the second time.

by Miareply 1304/19/2013

I like Seth, but he wasn't good.

He has no choice. We have a contract.

by Miareply 1604/19/2013

Will our American tragedies NEVER end??

by Miareply 1704/19/2013

Pathetic. I was shocked that the asked the same lame producers back after such a dreadful show (one of the worst Oscarcasts I've ever witnessed).

by Miareply 1804/19/2013

he's a cutie

by Miareply 1904/19/2013

I can't imagine he'd want to do it again.

by Miareply 2004/19/2013

R18 sounds fun!

by Miareply 2104/19/2013

Of course he has a price. The chance to inflict his embarrassing singing again on an audience of a billion.

Yes he can sing the notes, but who needs another Buble or Harry Connick Jr.?

He is no better than that. But he dream sequences that he is Sinatra, Bennett and Vic Damone all in one.

Achilles heel.

oh my

by Miareply 2304/19/2013

Hosting the Oscars does not pay well. You get scale pay.

One does not do it for the money. It is a lot of work and a thankless task.

by Miareply 2404/19/2013

He gets to sing. Priceless.

by Miareply 2504/19/2013

He was ghastly and I won't watch it. The fact that his ego out-schmucks the rest of the crowd in the theater combined doesn't make me want to see his smug asshole crapping all over the stage again.

by Miareply 2604/19/2013

R22, you may not like Seth or Buble, but that is NO excuse for comparing them to Harry Connick Jr.

by Miareply 2704/19/2013

Do you want to be in show biz? Come in, sit down and tell us ALL about yourself....Please, get comfortable.

by Miareply 2804/20/2013

If you want the frat boy kinda humor MacFarlane delivered then you might as well go with a younger, hotter host.

by Miareply 2904/20/2013

If that is the case, I will miss it for the first time in 65 years.

by Miareply 3004/20/2013

Seth? Meh. Zsa Zsa? I'd definitely watch.

by Miareply 3104/20/2013

[quote]If he accepts, it means even he has a price.

I love the "even he"--like he's Nelson Mandela or Jimmy Carter or something in terms of personal integrity.

by Miareply 3204/20/2013

Well, he'd better sing a prick song next time!
