Everybody knew it was going o be shot down

Three Democrats sided with the NRA, Heitkamp (ND), Pryor (AR) and Reid (NV).

Obama is pissed....
|by Anonymous||reply 5||04/17/2013|
The streets of Nashville will be flooded with shotgun waving hicks, driving pickup trucks blaring Country Music tonight.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||04/17/2013|
Harry Reid needs to be replaced as majority leader. No doubt.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||04/17/2013|
One Nation Under The NRA.

|by Anonymous||reply 9||04/17/2013|
Let the Republican party dissolve themselves, no big deal.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||04/17/2013|
disgusting. bet you the boston bomber was one of these pro gun Mother F-ers.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||04/17/2013|
The U.S. Senate: a place so fucked up that 54 isn't more than half of 100.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||04/17/2013|
Reid had to vote no in order to bring it back up later.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||04/17/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 14||04/17/2013|
The final vote was 54 in favor to 46 opposed with four Republicans joining most Democrats in supporting the compromise. With the outcome obvious, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, cast a "no" vote to secure the ability to bring the measure up again. Senate policy
|by Anonymous||reply 15||04/17/2013|
Because the Senate has these things called rules, R14.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||04/17/2013|
How the NRA got what it wanted
We mocked it. But it stood strong, shifted the guns debate and won itself a sweet deal. Now who’s laughing?
|by Anonymous||reply 17||04/17/2013|
Shame on those who voted against this bill. They will have blood on there hands from now on
|by Anonymous||reply 18||04/17/2013|
It's not really bothering me that this happened. Any actual effective gun control is going to have to confiscate guns from all the country's rednecks, thugs, incompetents, and about 70% of law enforcement. Good luck with getting that done
|by Anonymous||reply 19||04/17/2013|
Dirty whores all of them.
Just for money and power instead of cock.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||04/17/2013|
They all have blood on their hands and they don't care until it's their turn.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||04/17/2013|
I guess it's lost. If guns matter more in America, I guess guns matter more.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||04/17/2013|
Just how many of those fucks are going to lose their seats in the next election, though? My guess is hardly any. Your typical American has the memory - and resolve - of a flea.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||04/17/2013|
I agree, R23. They follow, they don't lead. So if there's going to be change, first you have to change the American perspective on guns. I don't think that's possible.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||04/17/2013|
Fuck the NRA. There's only some 5 million in this country. Thats less than 2% of the population.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||04/17/2013|
In America guns matter more than innocent people's lives, because guns have the more powerful lobby.
Lobbies rule the government and tell it what to do and say to the people of America.
Lobbies = Democracy's cancer

Even this thread hardly engenders responses.
Newtown was grief porn, I guess.

That sometimes happens when it's being discussed in another thread.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||04/17/2013|
Is it? Where?
|by Anonymous||reply 29||04/17/2013|
[quote]Three Democrats sided with the NRA, Heitkamp (ND), Pryor (AR) and Reid (NV).
The other thread where this is being discussed lists four Democrats; the three above and Mark Begich (AK).
Mark Pryor of Arkansas, Max Baucus of Montana, and Mark Begich of Alaska — face re-election races next year.
Since it had no chance of passage, Harry Reid, D-Nevada, cast a "no" vote to secure the ability to bring the measure up again.

Let's see someone try to bring an assault weapon into the Senate chambers, claiming that it's their right and see what happens.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||04/17/2013|
[quote]This is just another win for the 1% and another huge blow to the power of the poor and middle class. Those gun companies are laughing all the way to the bank with their millions in new Newton-scare gun money. And the American people get no increased gun safety measures, threats of entitlement cuts and actual sequestration cuts.
Bill Moyers: GOP- "Guardians of Privilege." In the times of FDR our political system rallied to the defense of everyday Americans. Now petty, narcissistic, pridefully ignorant politics has come to dominate and paralyze our government, while millions of people keep falling through the gaping hole that has turned us into the United States of Inequality.
Warren Buffett, the savviest capitalist of them all, may have written this era’s epitaph: "If there was a class war, my class won."

I think it would have passed had it truly addressed the issues of Newtown like banning people living with the mentally ill from possessing assault rifles with mega capacity rounds of ammo. At least I hope this was defeated because it was superfluous to the facts at hand.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||04/17/2013|
This is the traditional intellectual level of the gun fellators. They will be destroyed soon.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||04/17/2013|

Are you kidding? These issue were addressed in the multiple gun bills defeated today. They even defeated the gun trafficking bill! The NRA/GOP added an amendment to the background check bill that would have made it easier for felons to buy guns online. They only care about MONEY not Newton or anything else.

Senate Vote 97 - Defeats Manchin-Toomey Background Checks Proposal
|by Anonymous||reply 38||04/17/2013|
[quote]And I'm very honored to be here with him today, and with all of you, because this is not going to be an effort that is won in Washington.
[quote]I am convinced of that. You can't win this in Washington. If we engage the enemy in Washington we will lose. They will beat us in this town. They are too strong in this town. Their fortress is within the Beltway. We're going to beat them state by state, community by community, because we have the ultimate weapon with us, which is the American people -- and reason. And that does not lose, but we're going to have to engage it there, and I'm going to say more about that in one moment.

I'm too disgusted to have any words.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||04/17/2013|
BACKGROUND CHECKS ARE NOT GUN CONTROL
That's for you, redneck at R31 (Unless you have something to hide, of course)
|by Anonymous||reply 41||04/17/2013|
|by Anonymous||reply 42||04/17/2013|
R31 pretty much admits he has a micropenis.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||04/17/2013|
That fucking Mark Pryor. He's a coward and hell will freeze over before he gets my vote next year.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||04/18/2013|
That's heartbreaking. No more sympathy for you the next time you have yet another horrific gun massacre. You're due for one any day now too...
Pity all those little children that have died for absolutely nothing.
We thought you were serious about cleaning up your gun problem. It seems you're not going to do anything at all. Nothing at all.
We don't have any sympathy for you left in us when you are repeatedly so stupid.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||04/18/2013|
So nothing then.
Nothing. Nothing and nothing.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||04/19/2013|
Only Americans would put up with a system of government as inefficient as ours. Everywhere else, there would be a coup or a riot.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||04/19/2013|
Do the Chechnyn brothers have proper permits for their guns?
