Everyone has always known that Tim Cook is gay, and no one ever gave a rat's ass. He did his job, quite successfully, in the public eye. However, he has now politicized himself and thus making himself a target. You may not like it, but it's what he's done. The man did not have to say a word . . he was clearly out. People loved him. Stockholders respected him. Now, you can bet what's left in your 401K that he will resign. He made an issue of a nonissue. Bad move. But sing no sad songs for Tim Cook: he has enough money to buy the entire State of California if he wanted to.

"However, he has now politicized himself and thus making himself a target"

How are you politicizing yourself merely by saying "I'm gay"? Stop being hysterical.

It's really great that he is now openly out and cares about LGBT rights. If only he cared about the rights of the hordes of sweat-shop laborers who make his company's products under miserable conditions.

I work for a major Apple competitor and the discrimination is rampant. Gays, women, and about every other group except white men in their 40s and 50s. The irony is that our CEO is a woman. Like politics, all discrimination is local---including in workplace. The CEO doesn't manage every employee obviously. Just as there is discrimination in the promotion of women (and other minorities) at HP, Tim Cook's coming out will not help anything----at Apple or in the industry generally.

sooner. His coming out was probably a defensive maneuver after all the flack about the iphone 6.

[quote]He made an issue of a nonissue.

Yeah, just like those other CEOs who came out as "black" or "female", or (gasp!) JEWISH!

[quote]sooner. His coming out was probably a defensive maneuver after all the flack about the iphone 6.

Why should he be on the defensive about what is perhaps the most successful product launch in history?
