Los Angeles Sees Sharp Falloff In Porn Production Permit Requests

But why are adult filmmakers leaving the City of Angels?

It's tough to say, but some think it's because of a recent law, known as Measure B, that mandates men wear condoms during porn filming anywhere in Los Angeles County.

So adult film producers are just choosing to shoot outside of Los Angeles County.

Lindsay Lohan is "box" office poison too.

Gay porn switched to using condoms and remaind profitable. Why can't straight porn do the same?

by Anonymousreply 204/16/2013

Bareback is where it is at in porn kids.

by Anonymousreply 404/16/2013

Condoms in gay porn is still the vast majority although yes, bareback is prevalent. Which is a death wish.

I assume the San Fernando Valley is losing a lot of revenue.

by Anonymousreply 604/16/2013

Yep.

LA is/was the home of "mainstream" porn -- videos with higher production values, stories, etc. There's not nearly as much market for that anymore. Porn is now made everywhere, amateur and professional.

by Anonymousreply 804/16/2013

The market is FLOODED X 10.

People work MUCH cheaper in Eastern Europe.

The world wants Estonian women and Czech men - not "Chick from New Jersey" or "Dude from LA".

"People work MUCH cheaper in Eastern Europe."

Oh fuck, there goes all the good genuine thug porn!

by Anonymousreply 1004/16/2013

I think Americans are all too fat now to work in porn anymore.

by Anonymousreply 1104/16/2013

There are some hot straight guys doing straight porn.

by Anonymousreply 1204/17/2013

Because no one pays for porn anymore (and why would they, it's all been done before and better and even the new stuff is easy to find in pirated form).

by Anonymousreply 1304/17/2013

True, r13.

by Anonymousreply 1404/21/2013

I'm sort of over porn. I'm not anti but it's mind-numbingly soulless.

by Anonymousreply 1504/21/2013

I just think that for the porn directors is filming their porn projects in L.A. is a thing of the past. They could go very far in the valley and film their porn projects where they would not be bothered with the condom law.
