Rick Santorum: Gay Marriage Discourages Straight Marriage

“Because we'd be saying that marriage isn't about children," Santorum said. "And when we say that, then, of course, the consequences are you're probably going to have less children. It's happening as we see it. It's already happening in America."

And by "children" he means "white children."

by Anonymousreply 104/13/2013

Rick knows that what every boy with homosexual longings should do is marry a woman and have lots of children. Having sex with a woman is ALL about the children. Why else would a man have sex with a woman? He could hang out with his buddies (if he had any) and have sex with them.

by Anonymousreply 204/13/2013

What about older hetero couples who are beyond the age capable of having chldren?

What about younger hetero couples who are infertile?

What about the girl whose family cannot afford the goat she was supposed to bring into the marriage?

Should we ban all these people from getting married?

by Anonymousreply 304/13/2013

"you're probably going to have less children"

Oh dear!

by Anonymousreply 404/13/2013

There is something seriously wrong with right wingers. Not the obvious racists, bigot, assholery but some kind of deep psychological disorder. They are OBSESSED with other people's sex lives. The want to stop gay sex, they want to stop women from having recreational (for lack of a better word)sex by abolishing abortion and birth control. They blame women for rape by wanting to make them keep the rape baby and even go so far as to say the rapist has rights to the child. The think of the weirdest scenarios if any of this oppression does not happened. Gay sex=beastiality.

The sanctity of straight marriage means nothing to them with all the repugs who have affairs, wide stances, or need Viagra to get off. Limpball drove Sandra Fluke's name into the ground and he didn't even understand what the hell she was advocating. He was obsessed w/her.

They are obsessed with other people's sex lives, WHAT THE FUCK IS THEIR PROBLEM?????

by Anonymousreply 504/13/2013

So the only thing keeping his marriage together is the fact that gay marriage is illegal? He has never sounded gayer than he does in this article.

by Anonymousreply 604/13/2013

R1 is correct.

by Anonymousreply 704/13/2013

The best thing about this is deconstructing it. Rick is gay!

by Anonymousreply 804/13/2013

R5--At a deeper level it is about suppressing women and asserting male control over her fetility. The connection is obvious when looking at contraception, abortion, and rape. The connection to antigay is less obvious. Gay mean are threatening because they were born with all the privileges of a man and (to the right ) and chose to give it away and embrace what is (to the right) feminine. Gay mean are traitors to their gender.

So it's not about sex, it's about power in their minds.

Plus a bunch of them are self-loathing closet cases.

by Anonymousreply 904/13/2013

R[9] I think you're right. About surpressing women but more so that they are closet cases. I think a lot of these men are gay but hate it so much, they lash out against it in hopes of making it go away. Look at Marcus Bachman.

What was that gay saying, he opens his mouth and a purse falls out.

These people are so sick, it really bothers me.

by Anonymousreply 1004/13/2013

R3 Or worse, the couples who don't want to have kids. I know a few of them. I've also seen right wingers ask if you cant or wont have kids, whats the point of getting married? The idea that they could love someone and want to spend the rest of their life with them is something that is completely off their radar. Kind of sad when you think about it.

by Anonymousreply 1104/13/2013

And what about all the gay men having babies through surrogates? Would they, and only they, be allowed to marry?

by Anonymousreply 1204/13/2013

Having regrets of his own straight marriage already? Damn, that didn't take long.

by Anonymousreply 1304/13/2013

If gay marriage somehow meant people were having fewer children, that'd frankly just be a fantastic bonus because the planet is grossly overpopulated as it is.

r1, r5 and 59 all have it.

by Anonymousreply 1404/13/2013

Self-loathing closet cases can't account for the obsessions with abortion contraception and rape. And they are not powerful enough to focus political power on these issues. We are not psychoanalyzing people. We are accounting for the use of political power to maintain male privilege.

by Anonymousreply 1504/13/2013

Fewer children would be perfectly fine. The planet's health is in peril due to overpopulation.

Are you listening Mr. & Mrs Santorum and the famewhore Kardashians??!!

by Anonymousreply 1604/13/2013

As someone who pretends to believe in my infinite wisdom, Santorum and his ilk doesn't seem to realize that maybe I created a phenomenon that attempts to keep the population in check. Otherwise the breeders would ruin everything I worked so hard for 6 days to create.

Thank Me for homosexuality!

by Anonymousreply 1704/13/2013

We know he is afraid of sex because he wears a sweater vest.

by Anonymousreply 1804/13/2013

This is great!! More self cannibalization of the Repugs!! We just have to sit back and watch DOMA be overturned while the Fundies burn every bridge they once owned. It's like Christmas everyday.

My older Auntie Cecille(RFL) read this quote in The paper and was outraged, as she had just married her companion of 8 years Walter. What an insult to state that marriage is all about having children!

Hetero fucking is all about having children. It's his problem that he believes fucking=marriage.

by Anonymousreply 1904/13/2013

When it comes to straight marriage, why don't reporters ask Santorum about his wife, and why she didn't marry the abortion doctor she lived with, and assisted with his patients. They lived together for years with no marriage involved.

by Anonymousreply 2004/13/2013

with almost more than 50% of American children being born out of wedlock, gays getting married isn't going to affect how many heterosexual people have children

The reason more people are choosing not to have children is because of the economy and the fact that people aren't going to be bullied by society into thinking they have to have children.

If santorum has a problem with heterosexual marriage rates decreasing he should talk to straight people about this. Especially straight men, who are the ones who don't want to get married and don't see anything wrong with getting a woman pregnant and then not wanting to be tied down by marriage. And he can talk to straight women about this too. They are the ones who keep having out of wedlock children with men who refuse to marry them. Again, this is why more than 50% of American children are born out of wedlock. This has nothing what so ever to do with gay people.

And it isn't the government's role to worry about marriage. but of course, if they are going to give one set of citizens (straights) certain rights and privileges, they need to be fair and give all American citizens those privileges. And from a standpoint a piece of shit repug should be able to sympathize with, we pay the same taxes as straights, we ought to have the same rights. Can you imagine if Obama gave tax cuts to Democrats, but repugs weren't accorded any tax cuts? That would be unfair. There'd be a civil war. Gays don't want special rights. They just want equal rights - the same rights that heterosexuals have

by Anonymousreply 2104/13/2013

Thanks, R21!!

by Anonymousreply 2204/14/2013

Rick Santorum is homosexual. He's closeted. Deeply. And it's pathetic that he continues focusing his dialog on the topic of other people's sexual identity and reality -- especially given what delusions he has. I wish he would have won the Republican nomination for 2012 because we would have a fun, landslide re-election against him and his party. Instead, it was a media-lovin' manufactured close race in which dumbass whites and men nationally preferred Mitt Romney. Rick still would have won in Appalachia, in the plains (middle strip), in Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, and Alaska. But it would have been very satisfied watching this freak try to compete in the general election -- he represents very well the most sick faction of his political party.

by Anonymousreply 2304/14/2013

Sharing air with Rick Santorum on the same planet discourages me from wanting to inhale.

by Anonymousreply 2404/14/2013

He reads gay to me, too, but why hasn't he been exposed by his gay lover(s)?

by Anonymousreply 2504/14/2013

R25,

I don't believe Rick Santorum has acted on it. That's interesting, given the power accorded to politicians. He was a two-term U.S. senator from Pennsylvania and won his second term as Al Gore carried the state in 2000. During some point, he could have had an [italic]arrangement[/italic]. Maybe there is [italic]one[/italic] person. One male who has had sex with Rick Santorum. My thinking is that he hasn't acted on the very thing for he has been fixated … and he's brought to that the national stage. What a sickened individual!

by Anonymousreply 2604/14/2013

Don't worry, we'll do our part!

by Anonymousreply 2704/14/2013

It is already happening in America because most people are smart enough to worry about over-population and do not need to reproduce themselves 19 times to prove anything. Most people also don't want a lot of kids because they can't afford them, douchebag. That is why most middle-class families can't make do on one paycheck even with a couple of kids. This turdface is so far removed from reality it is scary. Gays getting married have nothing to do with straight peoples decision on how many kids to have. The more he talks the crazier he sounds. Keep talking Rick, you will not be elected again. Prick!

by Anonymousreply 2804/14/2013

Santorum ought to divorce his wife and come out already. The masturbation material Savage gave him has to be getting a little stale by now.

by Anonymousreply 2904/14/2013

[quote]He's closeted. Deeply

You've got that right.

by Anonymousreply 3004/16/2013

[quote]My thinking is that he hasn't acted on the very thing for he has been fixated …

You're probably right. He wants it bad but can't take a chance on being outed so he's totally caught up in thinking about gays 24/7.

by Anonymousreply 3104/18/2013

The only thing correct in his statement is that we are having less children. But THE GAYS! are not the reason why.

Higher incomes, women in the workforce....and about a billion other reasons would rank higher on the list.

by Anonymousreply 3204/18/2013

I wonder if that gay ex-staffer of his has any dirt.

by Anonymousreply 3304/18/2013

His argument about children only makes sense if people are biologically unable to reproduce until vows are exchanged.

by Anonymousreply 3404/18/2013

For so long I have tried to figure out what is the real motivation for people like Santorum. Are they repressed homosexuals? Was it something in their childhood? But in the final analysis, I think what motivates them is the same thing that motivates everyone. Money. These people make a lot of money selling fear. Santorum is getting some $30k for a speech he is giving to some high school kids. If he really believed his message was important and true, he would do it for free. The fact that he demands that kind of change tells me he cares about one thing and one thing only: his bank statement.

by Anonymousreply 3504/18/2013

He's after a bigger bank account but he also enjoys the spotlight.

by Anonymousreply 3604/21/2013

You nailed it, R35.

Money and power is the m.o. behind these guys, from Santorum, to Pat Roberts, to Ralph Reed to James Dobson. The list goes on and on.

There's a lot of gold to be made in mining peoples fear, and these assholes have discovered that particular mother lode.

by Anonymousreply 3704/21/2013

Santorum is also part of the Opus Dei cult, so that pushes some of his weirdness.

by Anonymousreply 3804/21/2013

Opus Dei members practice "corporal mortification." One method of mortification is to wear a metal chain, cilice, around the upper thigh. The cilice has tiny spikes that point inward. The cilice's spikes cause pain and may leave small marks, but usually do not cause bleeding.

by Anonymousreply 3904/21/2013

How vivid!

by Anonymousreply 4004/21/2013

Like the Mormon cult, Opus Dei cult members are required to donate a percentage of their income.

by Anonymousreply 4104/22/2013

I don't pay any attention to him anymore. He's a nut, fruitcake, crackpot and a bigot.
