Fir my nephew...I love him but I am just the worst gift giver..

by I. Giverreply 3704/11/2013

good question, my nephews are turning 11 too

by I. Giverreply 104/11/2013

You can give him my spare Green Weirdo.

by I. Giverreply 204/11/2013

A good sex education book. Just in case nobody tells him.

by I. Giverreply 304/11/2013

I tell you one thing: I'm not going to repeat the mistake I made when he turned ten and I gave him a strange 58-year-old man with candy.

by I. Giverreply 404/11/2013

An assault weapon.

by I. Giverreply 504/11/2013

He'll laugh and clap with delight, and be the envy of all the other kids if you present him with a lovely jar of jam.

by I. Giverreply 604/11/2013

Water gun.

by I. Giverreply 704/11/2013

My phone number.

by I. Giverreply 804/11/2013

Night Vision goggles, something Star Wars related, something Halo related, video games.

by I. Giverreply 904/11/2013

When I was 11 I would have killed for a subscription to Men's Workout.

by I. Giverreply 1004/11/2013

What's he in to? Favorite movies, games, hobbies? Interests? Keep in mind that shit changes on a dime at that age and something he thought was cool last year might not be.

by I. Giverreply 1104/11/2013

Surprise anal

by I. Giverreply 1204/11/2013

As the parents what he 's into. Sports, comics, Star Wars?

by I. Giverreply 1304/11/2013

Gift certificate to your favorite bathhouse.

by I. Giverreply 1404/11/2013

How about a bound compilation of all the nephew troll postings here?

by I. Giverreply 1504/11/2013

When I was 11 I wanted my older brother's jock strap.

by I. Giverreply 1604/11/2013

R16, young children often care more about the wrapping than the gifts that they contain.

by I. Giverreply 1704/11/2013

I made my niece a board-card game.

by I. Giverreply 1804/11/2013

I'm usually excellent gifts unless it's someone I don't really like.

by I. Giverreply 1904/11/2013

Take him to a foot locker or something and let him pick out the coolest shoes. Thats really an indulgence for a kid.

by I. Giverreply 2004/11/2013

Model rockets

by I. Giverreply 2104/11/2013

Giftcards. No to Star Wars stuff unless you know he's into it.

Maybe cash and a book that was meaningful to you.

Unless you know what he's into, I wouldn't waste your time guessing. Many 11 year olds are outgrowing toys. Share something you know about and pass on some skills and knowledge (ie a plant, rock collection, etc) or go with cash or a giftcards.

Legos has some fantastic sets for older kids - like battleships or Star Wars. They're not cheap, but I think an 11 year old boy would love something from Legos.

A good telescope if he's into science/space/astronomy.

A tent if he doesn't have one - even if he and his family never go camping, he can still put it up in the backyard for sleepovers with his friends.

10-12 year olds go ape shit over science kits if they're inclined that way.

A cooking class if he's into food (and/or you think he's going to be gay) - you could take it with him.

Introductory karate/tae kwon do lessons if he hasn't already done that. Just check if it's okay with parents, they may not want the expense of additional classes, or the risk of injury.

A basic 20 gallon freshwater aquarium - if it's okay with parents and the kid seems to be interested in fish/marine life. I got one when I was 10 and it was the best gift I ever received.

An iPad mini.

Cash (you could help him get a savings account if he doesn't already have one).

[R17] LOL, right on brother

by I. Giverreply 2404/11/2013

Thanks...actually I know him quite well but he lives on the other side of the country in a land I think they call California...

The science stuff is a great idea...or magic too maybe

by I. Giverreply 2504/11/2013

Science IS magic -- it contains the mysteries of how the world works.

[quote]I'm usually excellent gifts unless it's someone I don't really like.

I'm usually a pretty good gift myself, with people I like.

by I. Giverreply 2604/11/2013

give him a book on Gloria Steinem so he can learn about women and be a better man.

by I. Giverreply 2704/11/2013

by I. Giverreply 2804/11/2013

A nice pencil for dialing.

by I. Giverreply 2904/11/2013

A subscription to DataLounge.

by I. Giverreply 3004/11/2013

by I. Giverreply 3104/11/2013

You can't go wrong with a sewing machine!

by I. Giverreply 3204/11/2013

I love the Foot Locker suggestion. SLAM DUNK.

by I. Giverreply 3304/11/2013

Game Stop or iTunes gift cards if he has a Touch.

by I. Giverreply 3404/11/2013

OP, are you trying to figure out a way to seduce him?

by I. Giverreply 3504/11/2013

A big breasted baby sitter with loose morals.

by I. Giverreply 3604/11/2013

Unless he's advanced for his age, he'll love Legos.
