For Colored Girls on BET tonight, an alternative to the NCAA basketball

Pure Tyler Perry over the top drama.

Janet SLAYED in this movie.

by Anonymousreply 104/08/2013

Is Janet the star, or are all the roles equally important?

by Anonymousreply 204/08/2013

Janet is ALWAYS the star, R2. The concept of "equally important" in this context is LAUGHABLE.

by Anonymousreply 304/08/2013

It's an ensemble piece, R2, but you already know who the draw is...

by Anonymousreply 404/08/2013

For me, JB, the draws are Kerry Washington and Loretta Devine. And from the first few youtube videos I looked at, you could make the case that it's Loretta's movie.

That movie was laughable and absurd. It was like watching The Women Of Brewster Place on steroids. I thought what kind of apartment building was that where all those terrible things were happening to these women at one time? Maybe the building was demon possessed? Why did Janet look like something right out of the Twilight films? That man should never be allowed to make another film again.

Janet's color was red. All the women had assigned colors, just like in the play. Mariah was supposed to play Thandie Newton's part, but had to back out because she was pregnant.

Tyler loves his divas.

by Anonymousreply 804/08/2013

Amazing actresses and performances. So poorly directed.

the drunk guy throwing his kids out the window. oh dear.

by Anonymousreply 1004/09/2013

Janet tried so hard to lower her tinkerbell voice (like Madonna, always trying to gain acceptance as a Thespian- and failing) that she's monotone and sounds like she's possessed by Pazuzu.

by Anonymousreply 1104/09/2013

Janet's husband was on the down low.

by Anonymousreply 1204/09/2013

R11, they lowered her voice in post. It was mentioned several times upon the film's release.
