Canada is governed by Evangelical Conservative Christian Party
For all those who say Republicans will never get back in the White House, because of the Evangelical wing of the party.
I just point to Canada which is suppose to be a Liberal and a bit socialist country.
It is now run by Evangelical Conservative Christians.
Just you want US. It will happen in four years.
You will not know what hit you.

France is still an officially Catholic country. It is a socialist country. It is a culturally conservative country.
If you don't know the difference between Liberal and liberal then you will forever be confused about things political and cultural, OP.

R1 = Card carrying member of Conservative Party

When will Canadian idiots realize they are ruining their economy with these people? Why in general, are people so fucking stupid?
|by Anonymous||reply 3||04/07/2013|
You guys in the states just wait.
In a few years when the Right gets their act together, you will have a president that is a Evangelical Christian.
Happened in Canada, will happen to you guys soon.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||04/07/2013|
I think we went through it first, and you folks got hit with the aftershock.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||04/07/2013|
OP is a jealous American with poor reading comprehension.
|by Anonymous||reply 6||04/07/2013|
It freaks me out every time I realize this.
An Evangelical Christian and publicly anti-gay Canadian Prime Minister and a full gay equality supporting US President, existing at the same time in history.
I will bet you nobody ever thought that would happen!
|by Anonymous||reply 7||04/07/2013|
R6 we have only had same-sex marriage in Canada for 8 years.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||04/07/2013|
PS: Obama actually IS an evangelical Christian, ya maroon.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||04/07/2013|
R7 You think it would be opposite.
That Canada would be the Liberal country and the US would be Conservative.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||04/07/2013|
But after eight years of gay marriage, it feels like ten.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||04/07/2013|
Reagan and the Bushes didn't count; they were just using the evangelical voter base to get elected and weren't really part of that world themselves.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||04/07/2013|
The Evangelicals are just a stalking horse for the military. They never would have won anything without Pentagon and CIA money. If we organize a progressive revolution in the next four years, we can put paid to all this crap.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||04/07/2013|
Yes, I did R13 and Imma also writing this one!
Canada: where you can't go outside without a burka and there's a big flaming cross on every lawn and the Prime Minister isn't refusing to open the abortion debate and guns are available at the corner store....oh wait.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||04/07/2013|
The point is that Canada is losing ground to Evangelical ideology. That shows the risk of the same thing happening in the USA. The re-criminalization of homosexuality etc.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||04/07/2013|
Oh please r16 - you have no idea what you're talking about. There's no risk if SSM being revoked in Canada, let alone homosexuality being criminalized. Americans can't seem to grasp a political system in which religion is kept private (Canada), and one where it constantly informs political debate (US). We don't talk about religion in public in Canada, we don't vote for politicians who bring it up as a political weapon, and that us not changing no matter how many shrieking Marys on Datalounge declare it to be so.

I like Stephen Harper, he's a good guy.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||04/07/2013|
Troll-dar r6. She's on crack.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||04/07/2013|
Harper is trying to ruin Canada, bit by bit. Most people are not aware of how this is going on. The majority, though, have voted against him every time - the vote is split by three or four opposition parties. This is how he sneaks in. Harper has also added more electoral seats to the areas that will vote for him. Most people do not know that, either.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||04/08/2013|
Harper wants to move Canada back to the 1950s. He is trying to undo what Trudeau put in place 40 years ago.
He sees that as correcting a wrong and making it right.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||04/08/2013|
***The poll found that 54 per cent of Canadians believe the country is on the “wrong track,” versus 46 per cent who believe it is headed in the “right direction.”
Fifty-eight per cent of Canadians disapprove of the Conservative government under Harper’s leadership, compared to 42 per cent who approve.
Canadians are especially troubled by the government’s actions in one area — secrecy and ethics.
The poll found that 69 per cent of people believe “the Harper Conservatives are too secretive and have not kept their promise to govern according to high ethical standards.” Thirty-one per cent believe the Tories have kept their promise.***

If 42 percent of Canadians support this government, Canada is doomed. That is too high.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||04/08/2013|
I think Canada is doomed.
Most of them just want to eat a lot, drink beer, watch TV on a big screen, get a big vehicle and buy a house. If they are told some Hitler will get them more money to do these things, then they will vote for him.

Pray for the young. Hoping they move away from organized religion and head this off at the pass.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||04/09/2013|
Stephen Harper is allowing the Canadian banks to fire Canadian employees and hire temporary workers form India now.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||04/11/2013|
Why do we care what these primitives are doing in their mosquito cloud?
|by Anonymous||reply 27||04/11/2013|
How long can it be until US Evangelicals start relocating to Canada?
|by Anonymous||reply 28||04/11/2013|
[quote]Pray for the young. Hoping they move away from organized religion and head this off at the pass.
They were already that way, but now are swinging towards everything conservative.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||04/11/2013|
The younger generations of Canadians are NOT swinging to conservative. They are, like in the USA and Europe, becoming even more socially progressive.
The voters who are stacking the Conservative numbers now, are the new immigrant voters from places like China and India.
