You know what kind of sucks -

my niece and nephew had to find out on Facebook that their paternal great grandmother died. Not a single call from their dad (divorced from their mother for 15 years)or anyone on that side of the family to let them know.

The visitation and funeral was yesterday. They went but said it was very awkward.

When my brother dies, that is the last day my sister-in-law will ever see or hear from any of his family, i.e., us.

They have no children, so this will be easy.

You could have called them, OP.

Who gives a shit? Keep FB crap on FB.

Did she leave them any money?

They sound like gold diggers. They were not informed because they were not part of the family unit (in the family's mind).

Seriously, when was the last time they saw the great grand mother?

by Anonymousreply 704/03/2013

They saw her frequently and she baby sat my niece when she was a baby. That side of the family just does not communicate. And they aren't gold diggers they are teen agers.

My father did the same thing with my grandfather. Mentioned his death casually in response to "How's your father?" weeks after the fact.

Some people sell their children into slavery/rape them/kill them/eat them.

So as my mom would say "it could always be worse."
