If decades were colors

The 1970s bring to mind orange

The 60s yellow

OOh, I love this.

1990s: Help on this one too.

2000s: Green

by Color me surprised!reply 103/26/2013

How about olive green for the 1940s?

by Color me surprised!reply 203/27/2013

Why green for 00?

I'd say brown for the 40's.

No idea for the 90's.

by Color me surprised!reply 303/27/2013

I was thinking olive green for the 40s because of WWII but any variation of brown/green/khaki would work.

by Color me surprised!reply 403/27/2013

80s = purple

by Color me surprised!reply 503/27/2013

30s - Sepia

by Color me surprised!reply 603/27/2013

20: pink

30s: rosy red

40s: red (is dead)

50s: blue (is through)

60s: green ('s obscene)

70s: brown ('s to boo)

80s: plum (there is not the slightest excuse for)

90s: puce (ditto)

00s: chartreuse (ditto)

10s: think pink!

by Color me surprised!reply 703/27/2013

Yes I like olive or military green for the 40s R2/R4.

I picked green for the 2000s because of the strongest "going green" philosophies yet and to represent the freshness of actually getting out of the 19 date and into the 20 date. Plus, all of us but the mega rich seem to be really striving for the green moneywise in this decade. BUT, please, if anyone has a better idea do tell! This was just my take. Thanks for asking R3.

by Color me surprised!reply 1003/27/2013

Agree with purple 80s, brown 40s, but I think the colors for the 60s & 70s are reversed - 60s orange and 70s yellow.

by Color me surprised!reply 1103/27/2013

80s is electric blue.

by Color me surprised!reply 1203/27/2013

the psychedelic 60s all the colors

70s...beige, brown

2010s...black/silver grey

by Color me surprised!reply 1603/27/2013

The 70s would be Harvest Gold. You could not escape that color ever in 70s American home decoration.

by Color me surprised!reply 1703/27/2013

1900s - russet brown, 10s - dark gray, 20s - white, 30s - sephia, 40s - army green, 50s - navy blue, 60s - light blue, 70s - brown, 80s - fuschia, 90s - moss green, 00s - gray

by Color me surprised!reply 1803/27/2013

The 1940s are mauve-taupe.

by Color me surprised!reply 1903/27/2013

The 1970s are avacado green.

The 1980s are chartreuse green.

The 1990s are teal.

by Color me surprised!reply 2003/27/2013

To me it's clear:

'50s gray

'60s yellow

'70s blue

'80s red

'90s black

'00s white

by Color me surprised!reply 2103/27/2013

90s forest green or burgandy

by Color me surprised!reply 2203/27/2013

I agree, 70's seemed more avacado green and baby shit brown.

by Color me surprised!reply 2303/27/2013

70's is definitely that Harvest Gold colour that was fucking EVERYWHERE -- appliances, couches, walls, carpets, etc etc etc.

I like turquoise for the 50's.

A nice medium-ish green for the 00's like R1/R8 says.

And olive/military green for the 40's, cuz of WWII.

90's is either dark red (for grunge flannel shirts) or black (for goth, emo, grunge, and general negativity).

80's is neon pink!

by Color me surprised!reply 2411/12/2014

80s - grey (and I mean that in a good way)

90s - green, representing a return to naturalness and rawness embodied in grunge

by Color me surprised!reply 2511/12/2014

70s = avocado green, burnt orange, and harvest gold.

by Color me surprised!reply 2611/12/2014

I don't understand the question and I won't respond to it.

by Color me surprised!reply 2711/12/2014

The 90s can't be distilled into a color. So we will all just have to agree that "plaid" is the 90s.

by Color me surprised!reply 2811/12/2014

LOL, R28, agreed!

by Color me surprised!reply 2911/12/2014

Olive or army green for the 40s, of course.

The 80s were neon pink.

90s = hunter green.

00s = metallic silver

10s = navy blue

by Color me surprised!reply 3011/12/2014

Don't agree with pink for the 80's.

Should be a bright color though. Maybe electric blue.

by Color me surprised!reply 3111/12/2014

I'd say the 90's is white.
