CA county administrator gets $400K FOR LIFE

"According to reports by several newspapers, Alameda County, in the San Francisco Bay Area, is paying its County Administrator Susan Muranishi, north of $400,000—for life. This includes a generous base salary of $301,000, plus taxpayer-funded deferred pension plans paid for by the county."

"...President Barack Obama’s base salary, by the way, is $400,000."

Something ain't right when a state that is broke allows these lavish public incomes/retirement plans. How in any rational world can a county supervisor be set up to get more income than the President of the United States?

Most middle income CA taxpayers are struggling to make it on a middle income salary, and it doesn't seem right to ask them to fund this woman's huge salary and lavish retirement.

Democrats need to nip this kind of thing in the bud. It's the kind of issue that Republicans can run successfully run with and sway voters.

wasn't California on the verge of bankruptcy?

California is famous for these over bloated, outrageous salaries.

Remember that small town in California where the city council or some such body made themselves super rich?

Then they got arrested... once it came to light.

I'm bumping this again because this issue has really annoyed me. And I wonder how much of our current financial problems can be chalked up to greed?

These lavish public salaries/retirements are killing so many states. It's not right that the taxpayer is stuck funding these obscene salaries.

(From the article link ) "With millions of dollars in debt and a $3 million projected deficit for 2013 alone, Alameda County is struggling to stay afloat. But rather than pay off its dues, the city is shelling out a $423,664 annual salary for a county administrator.

"Using taxpayer money, the county’s supervisors are rewarding Administrator Susan Muranishi with a minimum annual salary of $423,664 for the rest of her life – including the years of her retirement.

"Even though the county is struggling financially, it pays Muranishi significantly more than other US counties pay their administrators..."

It feels like the public troughs are being looted and no one can stop it. Legal robbery.

Don't be jealous, if you could get it, you would want it too.
