People who act shitty then want you to be grateful for their apology

Is there a psychological term for this?

My friend throws temper tantrums when she's feeling insecure. Then she apologizes, but she gets pissed off if you don't acknowledge her apology with even more attention.

She does something bitch and mean and I generally ignore it. 2 days later I get an email:

Her: I'm sorry I did that. I know it was wrong. (blah blah blah) Me: (no reply- whatever)

Her: OMG!!! AREN'T YOU GOING TO REPLY? Well I GUESS YOU'RE GOING TO STAY MAD AT ME. I WAS TRYING TO COMMUNICATE !!! YOU CAN AT LEAST RESPOND.

ME: PK, Thanks for the apology. HER: OK. I'm trying here but I can tell you're still mad... (etc)

Basically she does anything and everything she can to turn the spotlight back onto herself and make it all about her needs. How the fuck does one deal with this?

What's the proper protocol?

by Anonymousreply 303/25/2013

Don't deal with adults who throw temper tantrums.

OP, effective immediately have no contact with her. That means through the net, telephonic communication or in person. The ball is in your court. If you're foolish enough not to take this advice, DO NOT come back here to complain.
