Ann Coulter Wants To ***BAN** All Gay Bathhouses. "Sodomy & AIDS we all have to pay"
This might be perhaps the greatest segment of Geraldo at Large ever known to man. During what was supposed to be a debate about NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg‘s various “public health” laws — indoor smoking bans, hidden cigarette displays by mandate, bans on large sugary beverages, etc. — Ann Coulter attempted to flip the “liberal nannying” logic upside-down by bringing up illegitimacy, sodomy, AIDS, and gay bathhouses.
Anti-obesity advocate (and big Bloomberg fan) MeMe Roth made the claim that bans on various unhealthy activities are warranted because “we pick up the tab” for other’s bad habits, Coulter countered that “I think you’re going to have to do something about the gay bathhouses.”
“AIDS is very expensive, and if I’m paying for it, how about discouraging that behavior?” she explained.
Later, while clarifying that she doesn’t actually want to ban homosexual activity, she told Roth, “If you’re argument is ‘Smoking: we all have to pay,’ then why not ‘Sodomy: we all have to pay.’” She told Roth that a consistent position on “nannying” would require her to be “anti-bathhouses” in addition to anti-smoking.
“The behaviors that liberals approve of, they will not stigmatize,” Coulter once again explained. “Illegitimacy, they are very upset Bloomberg is stigmatizing. Sodomy… they won’t stigmatize. But smoking… if we’re looking at it for health costs, there are plenty of other things.”

Kind of funny because I could swear I sucked Ann Coulter's dick at the West Side Club last night. Tiny meat, but nice big low hangers.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||03/25/2013|
Never mind the fact that every entitled demon spawn being pushed out means we all get to pay a bit more in taxes to support schools, social programs, etc etc. She should suggest a uterus use-tax going forward or a one child policy like our far eastern neighbors.

I thought gay bath houses already were illegal? Anyway, I agree with her that they're disgusting.

[quote] I agree with her that they're disgusting.
Have you been in one R3 ?
|by Anonymous||reply 4||03/25/2013|
Wow, Anne Coulter and Larry Kramer on the same page.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||03/25/2013|
No R4...I would never step foot into a gay bathhouse. I'm a little more picky about my sexual partners than that.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||03/25/2013|
R3 & R4 how can you comment on something, when you have never been in one?
|by Anonymous||reply 8||03/25/2013|
Then all sex should be banned due to STDs and health issues related to pregnancy- wait, that's right, the Repubs want to get rid of planned parenthood.
Oh well- Coutler is one of the nastiest people in public media- and ludicrous- ruining the Republican party I might add :)
As for the bath house prudes- do you go on 3 dates first, do you wait for a wedding band- do you suppose that safe sex knowledge is any better in a private home than a bath house (does someone pass out condoms at your door when you bring home a date?
Safe sex is not about bath houses R3. That's public health 101.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||03/25/2013|
It doesn't take a college degree to know what goes on there.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||03/25/2013|
R3 you can always read my website for insight if you don't want to go into one.
Actually Bathhouse are a much more safer environment if you are cruising for sex.
The baths are no different than cruising for sex or a one-night stand than online, or in a park, or even in a bathroom.
But the baths are a much safer environment, because if the situation is too weird or tense, or doesn't seem right you can walk away.
Much different to do if you are in a strangers house, or in a secluded park.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||03/25/2013|
No one should be cruising for sex in a park or a public restroom anyway, that shit is embarrassing and should have died in the 80s.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||03/25/2013|
I would rather someone go to a bathhouse then to litter a public park or restroom.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||03/25/2013|
"I would rather someone go to a bathhouse then to litter a public park or restroom."
r13, does it have to be in this sequence, or can one litter a park/restroom and subsequently head over to the bathhouse?
|by Anonymous||reply 14||03/25/2013|
OK, since I am totally ignorant about this. What is the breakdown for parks, public toilets, porn shops, bath houses, and sex parties? Do each attract a different clientele or are they interchangeable?
|by Anonymous||reply 15||03/25/2013|
Good. Bathhouses are NASTY. And most dudes who go DO have AIDS.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||03/25/2013|
Not that I'm an expert, but I'd guess the parks, public toilets and porn shops tend to attract closeted/married guys; the bath houses, old queens who still think it's 1976; the sex parties, openly gay juiced up muscle guys who are looking for their clones.
|by Anonymous||reply 17||03/25/2013|
R16 what about guys who cruise online? Do they all have AIDS? What about guys who cruise parks, bathrooms, porn shops. Do they all have AIDS as well?
Plus have you ever been inside a bathhouse? If not how do you know they are NASTY?
|by Anonymous||reply 18||03/25/2013|
[quote]I thought gay bath houses already were illegal? Anyway, I agree with her that they're disgusting.
That statement shows that not only are you uninformed, but you are also judgmental about something you have never experienced and know nothing about.
As the other posted stated, bathhouses can often be safer places to have sex than in public or at someone's home. Steamworks provides condoms and literature about STDs. They (at least in Toronto) also work in partnership with local public health agencies who provide free, anonymous, onsite STI testing and education/advice.
Yes, the sex that goes on there can be as dirty or as unsafe as the participants want it to be, but isn't that also true of what happens in a person's home? At the end of the day it's the individual who makes the decision about how safe they're going to play.
I go once in a while. Not every often, but when I'm horny and just need to fuck another person and can't be bothered with Grindr or bars, it's a quick, matter of fact way to get off.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||03/25/2013|
Banning bathhouses is such 80's thinking. If she was up to date, she'd lobby to shut down Grindr.
Unsafe sexual activity won't go away if you shut down the bathhouses.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||03/25/2013|
R16- not remotely true. You'd better educate yourself.
As long as there have been public places men and women have been hooking up with each other in various combination- that is to say, forever R12. And it will continue like this forever as well, in every corner of the world. Get over it- it's life.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||03/25/2013|
Picking up what R19 said, many times guys chat online and want to hook up.
Where do they go if they have a partner or roommate? Many times it is the baths. It is a good neutral place to meet. If things don't work out, you can always leave or just stop things. Without the worry of getting beat up or sexually assaulted.
Plus there is literature, condoms, lube, safe sex material. And on-site STI testing and counseling.
This is a great way to reach out to those men who are questioning, bi, married, closeted whatever. Who don't know where the resources are to get that information.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||03/25/2013|
R18, calm down, you're hysterical. Where did I say they all have AIDS.
I've never been, but I'm friends with a lot of young cute gay guys who don't go, either.
I know of 3 people who told me they go to bathhouses:
One was a 30something year old poz dude who bragged about leaving with 8 loads inside his ass
The other was a near 60 year old from Grindr who tried to get me to go
The third was a 450 lb guy who offered me money to blow me, and after I rejected him later sent me a message saying he got bred by a "daddy" at the bathhouse.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||03/25/2013|
R23 you need to get out more.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||03/25/2013|
R22, while much of what you say is true about HIV literature, etc., that varies wildly from place to place.
And I seriously doubt that anyone coming to a bathhouse is really interested in getting counseling or being tested, particularly the married/closeted types. They're there to get laid.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||03/25/2013|
R25 Everyone who goes, is because they want to get laid.
However I've seen many married/closeted men take advantage of the STI counseling. Many times it is dead or there is no one to their liking. So they spend some time chatting with the STI counselor, wanting for someone good to come in.
It is a way to past time.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||03/25/2013|
Why do these discussions always conveniently ignore straight sex clubs, swingers clubs, orgies, etc?
Straight people also have wild anonymous sex with multiple partners in public places. And they don't usually use condoms. Their main concern is pregnancy, not STIs.
Since there are infinitely more straight people spreading STDs let's talk about shutting THEIR playpens down first. Then we can talk about gay bathhouses.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||03/25/2013|
R27, because we're talking about AIDS, a GAY disease.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||03/25/2013|
How is Ann Coulter an expert on gay bathhouses? I bet she's just sore because the last time she went no one would suck her dick.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||03/25/2013|
[quote][R27], because we're talking about AIDS, a GAY disease.
Are you enjoying 1986? You seem to be trapped there.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||03/25/2013|
r30, I think the poster at r28 was trying to place himself inside Ann's warped mind.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||03/25/2013|
Please, let's ban Ann, she's a toxic mess!
|by Anonymous||reply 32||03/25/2013|
[quote]That statement shows that not only are you uninformed, but you are also judgmental about something you have never experienced and know nothing about.
I don't need to have "experienced" a gay bathhouse to know what type of people go there, and why. As someone else also pointed out, the only guys I've ever known to frequent bathhouses were bottom of the barrel guys with zero standards for who they got off with. I would be terribly embarrassed, ashamed and disgusted with myself if I ever walked into one, so it's never going to happen. I will say, however, that I used to live two blocks from the bathhouse in San Diego (Hillcrest) and almost stepped on a fucking SYRINGE one time walking past the place. I must say, that was the one and only time in my life I've almost stepped on a drug needle! So yea--I don't need to "experience" the place in order to know what it's about.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||03/25/2013|
While we're at it, can we ban stripper heels all the girls are wearing these days, under the guise that they result in mangled feet, which cause my insurance premiums to skyrocket?
|by Anonymous||reply 34||03/25/2013|
[quote]I don't need to have "experienced" a gay bathhouse to know what type of people go there, and why.
You do, actually. You're making an awful lot of (very harsh) assumptions based on your own fears and prejudices and antiquated notions.
The fact is that bathhouses attract every kind of gay man. Young to old. Fit to fat. Gorgeous to hideous. Healthy to sick. Vanilla to kinky. Sane to crazed. It's really no different than encountering a diverse group of men in a bar or online or on the subway for that matter. The only difference is in a bathhouse they're already naked and ready to go.
If you don't want to go to a bathhouse, don't. They'll carry on without you. But don't make such ridiculous judgements about things you know nothing about. A wise and intelligent person would simply say they don't know who and what goes on there and would actually ASK others. Or experience it for himself.
|by Anonymous||reply 35||03/25/2013|
Exactly--how old are you, R35? 'Cause NONE of my friends go to gay bathhouses to get off. Why would they??
|by Anonymous||reply 37||03/25/2013|
Some judgmental people are flinging their percieved moral code today. Reminds me of the bible thumpers.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||03/25/2013|
[quote]Exactly--how old are you, [R35]? 'Cause NONE of my friends go to gay bathhouses to get off. Why would they??
Well I guess if your friends don't go then no one goes! They probably hook up on Grindr. So don't get snippy with me, sonny. It's essentially the same thing.
I happen to be 43. But so what? The fact is that popular bathhouses (like Steamworks) attract men of all ages. Whenever I've been there were always plenty of younger men in their 20s and 30s there.
But again, if you're not interested, then don't go. That certainly won't prevent numerous others from going. If there wasn't a demand for bathhouses they'd be out of business. As it is, they're thriving.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||03/25/2013|
I've never been to a bathhouse, but how is hooking up there any different from hooking up with someone you met on grindr, in a bar, on the street, or atop Mt. Everest? You choose to play safely or not. How or where you meet is irrelevant. Some of you guys come off as very judgmental.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||03/25/2013|
Her closest friends tell me that Ann is a virgin who has never had sex of any kind. Kinda explains it ALL.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||03/25/2013|
What are you doing hanging out with her closest friends, R41?
|by Anonymous||reply 42||03/25/2013|
"Good. Bathhouses are NASTY. And most dudes who go DO have AIDS."
Oh, puhlease. You're just trolling to get a response. Most guys who use bathhouses do not have AIDS. And many are "straight" married men like Revolta, not openly gay guys.
"Why do these discussions always conveniently ignore straight sex clubs, swingers clubs, orgies, etc?"
Because the percent of straight people who use "swingers clubs" or participate in organized "orgies" is very small.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||03/25/2013|
[quote]And many are "straight" married men like Revolta, not openly gay guys.
Like I said, NASTY!
|by Anonymous||reply 44||03/25/2013|
Is Ann Coulter stuck in 1982? Bathhouses??? Who the hell goes to bathhouses anymore?
If she framed her argument around hookup sites and phone apps then it would actually be an almost legitimate point. But her railing against bathhouses just shows her complete ignorance on gay men and their sexual practices.
Ever been to the Westside Club lately? It's completely dead during the week and only low street hustlers and geriatrics meander the halls on the weekends.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||03/25/2013|
Gee, Michael Lucas, what do you think of your good friend Ann now?
|by Anonymous||reply 46||03/25/2013|

Ever been outside of New York?
|by Anonymous||reply 47||03/25/2013|
R22 speaks sanely. Oh, Ann, you'll never be our Judy Garland now.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||03/25/2013|
[quote]Ever been outside of New York?
Yes, I have and bathhouses are still not what they once were, no matter what part of the country you're in.
In Europe and South America they are still somewhat going strong but in the US it's different.
AIDS pretty much destroyed that subculture in the 80s. After all the famous bathhouses like St. Mark's Baths, the Continental Baths and the Everhart were closed down in New York the scene was lost.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||03/25/2013|
R49 what about the Steamworks chain and the Flex Chain?
|by Anonymous||reply 50||03/25/2013|
Are they teeming with hot, attractive men?
My original point is that Ann Coulter should have made the comment around websites and apps....hookup tools of the 21st century, not bathhouses.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||03/25/2013|
[quote] Are they teeming with hot, attractive men?
Visit Steamworks and find out
|by Anonymous||reply 52||03/25/2013|
Well, R51, she's old and out of touch.....and not a gay man. So, to no one's surprise, as usual, she's talking out of her ass.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||03/25/2013|
I'm tired of the contrarian trolls on this board lately. They'll literally argue you on anything just be argumentative. It's so fucking annoying. Are you really trying to make the case that bathhouses are booming in America? Just shut up already. FUCK.
|by Anonymous||reply 54||03/25/2013|
I hate this fucking cunt.
How do those GOProud morons sleep at night knowing that they pay this cunt to speak at their events? Sick.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||03/25/2013|
I don't believe for a second that r3 etc is "under 30," He sounds exactly like a 50 year old Tampa housewife.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||03/25/2013|
I'm beginning to think the owner of Steamworks is posting on this thread.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||03/25/2013|
I always love how Republicunts always think we should have less government unless it's something they want to ban. Maybe we should ban Ann Coulter. Or send her to Iraq.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||03/25/2013|
Well then Ann, let's ban 'pick-up' bars where heteros are hooking up indiscriminately with each other, giving each other STDs and causing unwanted pregnancies.
I've been going to a gay bathhhouse for 25 years and never had an STD.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||03/25/2013|
Oh and let's ban on-premises swingers clubs also.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||03/25/2013|
The people saying "no one goes to bathhouses anymore!" are quite misinformed, as are the ones who claim "only trolls and people with AIDS go!"
I've seen every type of guy at bathhouses, and all ages. I'm HIV negative and get tested regularly. And I can attest that every bathhouse I've been to hands out free condoms, is plastered with HIV awareness signage, and includes some designated space for an AIDS service org or health agency that provides free and confidential HIV tests, counseling and information.
I've been going (sporadically) for years, always practice safe sex and have never caught an STD there. In fact, the one STD I ever caught was from a guy I had been dating for months.
