Hitler obsessed with art?

Himself a failed artist, I wonder if he was trying to conquer the world just so he could stock his own fantasy museum?

He didn't like degenerate art.

Yes. John Cusack starred in the film "Max" about Hitler's love of art in his earlier years.

Hitler wanted to be an artist but he didn't get into the Vienna Academy of Art.

He worked a draftsman before becoming active in politics.

Not knowing who the artist was, some psychiatrists evaluated his art to come up with an interesting profile

Without a doubt! He stocked his cabinet with other failed artists. He totally wanted to be the cultural arbiter for the whole world. Imagine a homocidal Tim Gunn!

Hitler was also a frustrated architect. Had the Germans won the war, the planned to level Berlin and re-built the city on neo-Classical lines.

Albert Speer, who was trained as a architect, had many conversations with Hitler concerning architecture. Speer said that while Hitler understood many architectural concepts, he lacked a sense of scale and proportionality.

Hitler also planned to build the a museum to house all the great work of art of the world in Linz, Austria, not far from where he grew up

If he'd just been accepted into art school history would be so different.

(one of the reasons why I'd never want to work in admissions at a school----who knows what the people you reject will do)

LOL! That's not what he told Adolf. Speer was a great suck up. He played up to Hitler by pretending he thought Hitler was talented and gifted in the areas he knew Hitler felt like a failure.

Speer ended up being a liar who charmingly was as much of a suck up to the Americans using false acceptance of responsibility and lying about his knowledge of slave labor and the camps. That charm, false mea culpas and lies saved him from execution.

"... planned to level Berlin and re-built the city on neo-Classical lines"

Ah, finally a use for all those bones: concrete!
