TV series that you are loving.

I need some recommendations for good TV series please. I just finished with Homeland...which I loved...and am starting to watch The Killing.

Anything else I should check out?

How's The Walking Dead?

by TV Junkiereply 4903/23/2013

If you liked Homeland, you'll love The Americans.

by TV Junkiereply 103/19/2013

The U.S 'The Killing' is shit.

Second R1 on 'The Americans'; it's great.

Big rec from me for 'Justified.'

by TV Junkiereply 203/19/2013

Sons of Anarchy

I'm finally watching Friday Night Lights, and it's as good as everyone said. I avoided it until now as I'm not interested in football, but it's not entirely about football. It is about small town America where no one is bad or evil, their individual goals and agendas end up putting people with good intentions at cross purposes with each other.

I think it was June Thomad at Slate who said something like by delving into the small scale of people's day to day lives, the series expands into becoming about everything.

I loved The Killing, and the Swedish version of Wallander.

by TV Junkiereply 403/19/2013

Call the Midwife.

by TV Junkiereply 503/19/2013

The Killing is good.

The House of Cards (Netflix) is another good one.

by TV Junkiereply 603/19/2013

The Middle and the BBC series The Hour.

by TV Junkiereply 703/19/2013

Call the Midwife is fantastic R5, ia.

I also love Shameless.

by TV Junkiereply 803/19/2013

There's a new mini-series on Sundance, just started last night, called TOP OF THE LAKE. It's by Jane Campion and stars Elizabeth Moss. It's sort of a Kiwi TWIN PEAKS. Really cool and eerie so far.

by TV Junkiereply 903/19/2013

I've watched the first two or three eps of THE AMERICANS, and I'm enjoying it.

I've just given up the Kevin Bacon series on Fox. I just don't care about any of these people.

by TV Junkiereply 1003/19/2013

Boardwalk Empire

by TV Junkiereply 1103/19/2013

Is The Americans on Netflix because that one sounds interesting.

by TV Junkiereply 1203/19/2013

The Anericans is on iTunes.

by TV Junkiereply 1303/19/2013

More votes for:

The Vikings - Sunday night on The History Channel.
It is about small town America where no one is bad or evil, their individual goals and agendas end up putting people with good intentions at cross purposes with each other.

So Game of Thrones is more reality-based than Field of Lights.

by TV Junkiereply 1703/19/2013
The Vikings - Sunday night on The History Channel.

I tried this, and it was just dreadful.

Stick with Game of Thrones.

by TV Junkiereply 1803/19/2013

I just love the HBO series "Girls." It's written and directed by a lovely, talented young newcomer named Lena Dunham. The show is wonderfully creative, fun, cynical, biting, cutting edge and an all-around fantastic series about millenials.

You'll love it, too!

by TV Junkiereply 1903/19/2013

I watch THE AMERICANS here:

by TV Junkiereply 2003/19/2013

do you know where I can watch episodes of Homeland online?

by TV Junkiereply 2103/19/2013

R21, I think you need to subscribe to Showtime.

by TV Junkiereply 2203/19/2013

For r21.

by TV Junkiereply 2303/19/2013

thanks, R23,... but my computer says that is a "risky" site to visit :(

by TV Junkiereply 2403/19/2013

Those are just the straight porn ads, r24.

by TV Junkiereply 2503/19/2013

ok, thanks, R25

by TV Junkiereply 2603/19/2013

Dexter. I got hooked after the first couple of episodes

by TV Junkiereply 2703/19/2013

"Top of the Lake" is a miniseries on Sundance.

It started this week and airs 2 episodes a week. The epis are rerunned throughout the week.

If you liked The Killing you will like this. It stars Holly Hunter and the actress who playes Peggy on Mad Men.

by TV Junkiereply 2803/19/2013

Louie

Girls

Adventure Time

by TV Junkiereply 2903/19/2013

Top of the Lake is excellent with some hot rugged guys.

Call the Midwife was very good too.

by TV Junkiereply 3003/19/2013

I agree with The Americans and Top of the Lake.

by TV Junkiereply 3103/19/2013

R24, the site is not risky if you have a torrent player that will check for potential viruses. Google "U Torrent" and download the paid version.

by TV Junkiereply 3203/19/2013

VIKINGS...!!! Hot guys!

by TV Junkiereply 3303/19/2013

um...do you have to pay for that, R32?

by TV Junkiereply 3403/19/2013

An even better site for downloading shows the day they screen is eztv

by TV Junkiereply 3503/20/2013
I just love the HBO series "Girls." It's written and directed by a lovely, talented young newcomer named Lena Dunham.

I'm sorry, but her real name is "Lens" Dunham.

by TV Junkiereply 3603/20/2013

Archer. Love it.

by TV Junkiereply 3703/20/2013
The Killing is good.

The Killing (U.S. version) is fun. It's not exactly good, but that's not always what we're looking for in a TV show. It's over the top and great snark material.

by TV Junkiereply 3803/20/2013

{{{hanging head in shame}}} Nashville

by TV Junkiereply 3903/20/2013

Another vote for "The Americans."

The undisputed king of current TV series is "Breaking Bad," without question. It's already 4-and-a-half seasons in and takes a while to watch all the way through, if you haven't already. Took me a month, but it was so worth it.

by TV Junkiereply 4003/20/2013

Regarding The Killing, the performances were really good in my opinion: Mireille Enos, Joel Kinnaman, Brent Sexton, Michelle Forbes, all did a great job with the material they were given. I do agree that the quality of writing dipped as the show went along and had it been a one-season show, it would've been great.

by TV Junkiereply 4103/20/2013

R39. Why "shame"? I LOVE Nashville.

by TV Junkiereply 4203/20/2013

A couple I found through Directv's in-house Audience channel:

Less Than Kind - a Canadian half-hour comedy

The Shadow Line - 7-hour drama (see link)

by TV Junkiereply 4303/20/2013

Nashville

Dallas

Arrow

The Walking Dead

Revenge (although it really should have just been a mini-series)

by TV Junkiereply 4403/20/2013

Who shows [italic]the Shadow Line[/italic], please? I just checked my Roku, and it isn't available streaming yet.

by TV Junkiereply 4503/20/2013

Okay, I'm an idiot, r43. I didn't reread to your post before I asked my question.

by TV Junkiereply 4603/20/2013

Please tell me that you motherfuckers are watching that new Canadian reality show, Golden Gays.

Elder gays in Palm Springs.

To quote the HuffPo article: "lipstick lesbians, butches, drag queens, authors, bears and leather men acting out their own psychodramas under the desert sun"

Someone please make a thread.

by TV Junkiereply 4703/23/2013
