Sarah Palin ***SLAMS*** Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" Anti-Drug Campaign

In a radio interview on Wednesday with conservative talker Laura Ingraham, Palin took dead aim at Nancy Reagan's "Just Say No" initiative, which is all about getting children to "Just Say No".

Here is a portion of the transcript: "Take her anti-drug thing that she is on. She is on this kick, right. What she is telling us is she cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families to deal with drug use."

"And I know I'm going to be again criticized for bringing this up, but instead of a government thinking that they need to take over and make decisions for us according to some politician or politician's wife priorities, just leave us alone, get off our back and allow us as individuals to exercise our own God-given rights to make our own decisions and then our country gets back on the right track."

by Anonymousreply 7202/05/2014

Water under the bridge, Sarah, why don't you talk about ideas to improve the future?

by Anonymousreply 103/18/2013

Is this true? The anti drug theme that Nancy Reagan was on took place about 25 plus years ago. Sarah Palin is moving into the territory of bizarre.

by Anonymousreply 203/18/2013

And yet in matters regarding sex, dear Sarah and her fellow band of conservative sociopaths have absolutely no problem with the government being involved.

by Anonymousreply 303/18/2013

"And then there's this whole Prohibition, hell, liquor is the only thing that gets me through some days in Alaska, outlawing it was a terrible decision..."

by Anonymousreply 403/18/2013

Does it seem obvious to anybody else that Moose Lady has turned recently into a hardcore tweaker?

by Anonymousreply 503/18/2013

First, the commercialization of Christmas, now Just Say No. What other "hot topic" will she criticize next? The push to buy War bonds?

by Anonymousreply 603/18/2013

She looks it, R5. And soundbites like these aren't going to help dispel the rumors. I'd love it if she got busted with drugs.

by Anonymousreply 703/18/2013

I think it's Adderall. I think she's abusing it but then there are reports that she snorted cocaine off of an oil barrel back in the day. Wasilla's the meth capital of AK and Sarah looks like shit.

by Anonymousreply 803/18/2013

LOL, r6!

by Anonymousreply 903/18/2013

She is a cunt's cunt's cunt, snarking her way into political oblivion and whacko-org bucks while her trash family implodes and the caked-on foundation and blush on her face carries her ever closer to combustion as she lights her Salem blunt.

by Anonymousreply 1003/18/2013

Why is the "lamestream" media giving this cunt any attention?

by Anonymousreply 1103/18/2013

[quote]"... instead of a government thinking that they need to take over and make decisions for us according to some politician or politician's wife priorities, just leave us alone, get off our back and allow us as individuals to exercise our own God-given rights to make our own decisions and then our country gets back on the right track."

Republicans say this shit ALL THE TIME and then vote to overturn Roe v. Wade and pass laws outlawing marriage equality. Because, you know, the rest of us have no God-given right to make our own decisions. They really don't understand what control is, do they?

by Anonymousreply 1203/18/2013

Republicans: "Get the gov't out of the way so we can just rape women when we feel like it!"

by Anonymousreply 1303/18/2013

Better yet, "it's not rape if we want to do it."

by Anonymousreply 1403/18/2013

What a compelling statement from a woman who is the mother of at least one crystal meth addict.

by Anonymousreply 1503/18/2013

I don't understand how rabid capitalists like the GOP can be against the commercialisation of Christmas. Let the free market decide!

by Anonymousreply 1603/18/2013

Now, now. It is actually the smartest thing to ever come out of her mouth.

by Anonymousreply 1703/18/2013

The Dowager Duchess of Hate.

by Anonymousreply 1803/18/2013

This dumb cunt is McCain's legacy. Not his wartime experience. Not his political career. This cunt.

by Anonymousreply 1903/18/2013

Look for one of her kids to get busted pretty soon.

She brings this shit on herself.

by Anonymousreply 2003/18/2013

Aside from being 28 years late in her commentary, she somehow thinks that Mrs. Reagan's anti drug campaign was gov't policy. Hmmm, how's that? She also thought Michele Obama's childhood obesity awareness efforts were/are gov't programs somehow enacted as well. She is bizarre and dumb.

by Anonymousreply 2103/18/2013

There really isn't much more annoying than a stupid narcissist.

by Anonymousreply 2203/18/2013

Palin speaks to those who will listen.

by Anonymousreply 2303/18/2013

How many out of wedlock grandbabies does she have? I've lost count at this point.

by Anonymousreply 2403/18/2013

So she objects to anti-drug rhetoric as nanny state?

Does that mean she's for legalization?

Or does it simply mean that as usual she's completely full of shit and has no idea what the fuck she's talking about?

by Anonymousreply 2503/18/2013

She's gotta be on the crank!

by Anonymousreply 2603/18/2013

That old ex-First Lady and battle axe non pareil Nancy Reagan is not to take this lying down, I can assure you!

by Anonymousreply 2703/18/2013

The reason that the GOP keeps hammering the government's intrusion into parental rights is that they want to abolish child labor laws. Hey, if the parents are OK with their 10 year old working at a factory, the government should butt out. This is what this is really about.

by Anonymousreply 2803/18/2013

Aren't all of Sarah's kids methheads ?? Apparently she and her brood find 'No' to be too big of a word to understand.

Poor Nancy Reagan isn't doing much nowadays, except waiting to join Ronnie. This rant is so 1983.

by Anonymousreply 2903/18/2013

NO ONE upstages ole trouper Nancy Davis!

by Anonymousreply 3003/18/2013

She's attacking a 90-year-old woman, and from a position of extreme weakness.

If I were Rush Limbaugh or Breitbart, I wouldn't say I knew for sure that she's suffering from syphilitic dementia, but would ask if anyone's actually scene a clean bill of health for her.

by Anonymousreply 3103/18/2013

Look at how well the stars of "Diff'rent Strokes" turned out because of my anti-drug message, you Alaskan crab!

by Anonymousreply 3203/18/2013

At first I thought this was just weird trolling, but I get the point. Nancy Reagan is lauded for a stupid, useless drug prevention "program" that offered parents and educators no practical advice for keeping kids safe from drugs. Now Michelle Obama's important and practical initiatives get lambasted by a unintelligent, unthoughtful person like Palin.

I typed this text into Google:

[quote]Take her anti-drug thing that she is on. She is on this kick, right. What she is telling us is she cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children,, for their own families to deal with drug use."

And found a two year old CNN Roland Martin article where Palin criticizes Michelle Obama's interest in improving children's diets.

[quote] "Take her anti-obesity thing that she is on. She is on this kick, right. What she is telling us is she cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children, for their own families in what we should eat.

It's just Republican hypocrisy. 'Tis all.

by Anonymousreply 3303/18/2013

OOOh R33, I hope The Daily Show sees that!

She also showed up to an elementary school with a bunch of chocolate chip cookies in retaliation to Michelle's childhood obesity programs. Maybe she'll bring some samples of whatever speed she's on to a middle school?

by Anonymousreply 3403/18/2013

The woman is mental.

by Anonymousreply 3503/18/2013

Look at their offspring. Who would want child-rearing advice from either of those women?

by Anonymousreply 3603/18/2013

She's now nothing but a fame whore so she's got to keep shucking and jiving to keep the money rolling in. I am going to enjoy watching how low she sinks in order to maintain a semblance of relevancy.

by Anonymousreply 3703/18/2013

That woman has no shame to put her librarian bimbo persona in the spotlight in any way possible.

by Anonymousreply 3803/18/2013

This bitch is crazy. Now she's slamming people from her own party? Not a smart idea (not that I'd expect one from her) considering once she pisses enough of them off, her "comic relief" act at Repug events will be over.

by Anonymousreply 3903/18/2013

OP,

Link, please.

by Anonymousreply 4203/18/2013

She's right. sarah's made such wonderful choices raising her own children. They've all turned out so well and make great decisions.

And by God given rights to make our own decisions she means everyone but women or minorities should be allowed to make those decisions. Because I know women can't be trusted to make decisions about their own bodies. Women need some uneducated Neanderthals from the stone age telling them what to do

by Anonymousreply 4303/18/2013

No it isn't, R17. Nancy Reagan's campaign was a public service one, using the bully pulpit as is Michelle Obama's. There was no additional legislation to support it. The point is that Palin doesn't even understand this historically. Reagan wasn't suggesting that parents weren't able to make decisions for their own kids. Of course Michelle Obama isn't either.

by Anonymousreply 4603/18/2013

Bully pulpit!

by Anonymousreply 4712/06/2013

[quote]What she is telling us is she cannot trust parents to make decisions for their own children

Considering how her kids turned out she really should avoid that topic all together.

And Nancy Reagan? Jeeze, talk about living in the past. Well, thats why we call people like her Regressives. Next she will be complaining about the hidden satanic message in Michael Jackson's Thriller video.

by Anonymousreply 4812/06/2013

Most of the time, I have no idea what Sarah Palin is talking about.

Seriously, I can't tell if she's against the drug war here, or for private family drug wars, or just running her mouth in a randomly selected pattern of words.

What's clear is that she's dissing Nancy. The Reaganauts will see to it that she pays for that.

by Anonymousreply 4912/06/2013

"Bully pulpit" doesn't refer to bullying, it refers to Theodore Roosevelt's favorite expression. In those days, "bully!" was a slang expression that meant something like, "Goody!" In other words, an expression of enthusiasm.

It's a positive, not a negative. He was saying the Presidency was a good pulpit to sway public opinion from.

by Anonymousreply 5012/06/2013

That Ladybird Johnson needs to get off her "Keep America Beautiful" kick! More liberal lies about global warming if you ask me. And Barbara Bush and her literacy kick? Keep the government out of our families!

by Anonymousreply 5112/06/2013

OP is an odd bird.

by Anonymousreply 5212/06/2013

I hate her, but she's right in this case.

If opiates, coca derivatives and marijuana were for sale at the corner bodega, 99% of "drug arrests" would cease.

by Anonymousreply 5312/08/2013

Because Sarah Palin's a meth enthusiast? And I say this without having read any posts on this thread. It's just that her newly haggard, excessively wrinkled, turkey necked, thinner appearance and addition of breast implants in the last year year or so make one wonder.

She looks more like she'd be a better, more comfortable fit perched on the back of a Harley than riding on McCain's coattails.

by Anonymousreply 5412/08/2013

Oh craptacular whoever resurrected this thread. It's Palin's hopey changey, pro-obesity speech ... Duh! And double duh to me because I think I responded to this back in the spring. At least I'm consistent. At least Bristol looks like she's eaten a shitload of processed, prepared foods and looks about to widen her load.

by Anonymousreply 5512/08/2013

Someone should shit in her mouth!

by Anonymousreply 5612/08/2013

R28) is right. a few years ago a female Repug legislator in Missouri had a bill to do away with Child Labor law in the state. Her efforts failed. But that was before the state went totally Red. Today, with the Repugs in control of state government, the legislature could try again to do away with child labor laws.

by Anonymousreply 5712/08/2013

Who hasn't?

by Anonymousreply 5812/08/2013

How does a hard-core conservative Republican dare to tread on anything to do with Ron and Nancy Reagan? She's going to lose her cred with them, won't she?

Can I ask this here without starting another thread, is Sarah Palin anti-Catholic and is she a Holocaust-denier?

by Anonymousreply 5912/08/2013

She doesn't seem to be either, r60. Not publicly anyway. She backpedaled on her remarks that the new pope seemed liberal. And she loooooves her some Israel.

by Anonymousreply 6012/09/2013

Nancy's "Just Say No" campaign was shit, but not for the reasons Sarah thinks it was.

by Anonymousreply 6212/09/2013

how stupid are you, tedious libertarian troll/koch brothers mouthpiece at r54? she said NOTHING about legalizing anything, or any stance on the drug war whatsoever. she is merely talking about a decades old public service campaign that was a complete failure but NEVER a government initiative of any kind so is an inappropriate comparison for governmental "nanny state" policy making.

by Anonymousreply 6312/09/2013

Won't someone PLEASE shit in her mouth?!

by Anonymousreply 6412/09/2013

[all posts by tedious, racist idiot removed.]

by Anonymousreply 6512/09/2013

Let's make all drugs legal and parents can decide whether or not their kids can sneak behind their bAcks and use them.

We need less government rules and more parental choice. Legalize ecstasy, cocaine, meth. Sell OxyContin over the counter. The government shouldn't be telling us what to do,

by Anonymousreply 6612/09/2013

I thought it sounded like either she, her husband, or her children, or all of them, did meth or other drugs and she was trying to justify it. Typical drug user behavior. " I do it, so there's nothing wrong with it."

by Anonymousreply 6712/10/2013

Sarah Palin is right, all this public service talk did nothing.

Evidence Philip Seymour Hoffman OD today.

by Anonymousreply 6802/02/2014

[quote]I thought it sounded like either she, her husband, or her children, or all of them, did meth or other drugs and she was trying to justify it.

You're probably right.

by Anonymousreply 6902/04/2014

OMG. If you're a Christian, you're not supposed to explicitly criticize Christ until all the other Christians are dead and it's just you and Him competing for "Who Is Holiest."

I would think that criticizing Christ's widow would be just as un-Christian.

by Anonymousreply 7002/04/2014

Maybe I should have just said 'No' to Levi.
