Buffy's Xander Harris turns gay in Big Gay Love
BIG Gay Love is a comedy about a chubby, overweight gay man who overcomes discrimination based on his looks to find love on his own terms!
The devastating effect of our physique-obsessed culture is devastating. Bob appears to have it all – a great job, fabulous friends, and is about to become a first time homebuyer. But his success hasn’t come without a price for Bob has become the chubby gay man everyone adores, but nobody desires. To keep up appearances with his friends, Bob considers going under the knife to fit in and be perfect. But underneath it all he longs for something more.
It has been increasingly difficult for Bob to love himself because of the world he lives in. As a party planner who throws hip parties he is surrounded by models, actors, and beautiful people. Not unlike the gay world, it is the only world he knows, and it is impossible for Bob to escape. As a consequence, Bob has lost himself and can no longer see his own beauty.
Big Gay Love is a love letter for everyone who’s ever wanted to be accepted for themselves regardless of their color, shape, or size.
We are making Big Gay Love because we are tired of seeing rom-com movies about beautiful people looking for sex and pretending it's love, okay? Let's dig deeper people! Let's see some fatties and normal bodies!
In Big Gay Love, we turn the tables around the convention of beauty.
The heightened image of beauty that is constantly fed to gay men is as damaging as it is to women who have suffered years of scrutiny from the fashion and advertising world. It is important to see images that counter that so we don’t feel alien to our own bodies. It is time we shift the lens of what it means to be “beautiful”.

What do you bet this hog ends up with a hot guy?
Then every fatty on earth will think they can get a hot guy so instead of losing weight they will try to snag us with 'personality', which will never work in real life.

I just saw the trailer, fat is the least of his problems, he is also whiny, obnoxious and a hystronic over actor.
Amazing that they have raised almost enough money.

Xander has always been fat. Now he's reduced to begging on Kickstarter for money.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||03/17/2013|
Ever since he turned fat, I lost interest in anything about him.

OOh, R1, you sound so hot! And such a bubbly personality!

I would be in heaven if Nicholas Brandon (or even better, Xander) were to fall for me and persue me. No, I'm not fat. But I'm not gym body either. And I ain't got nobody.

[quote]Xander has always been fat.
Bullshit. He looked great for the first three seasons of "Buffy." Then the booze-bloat started to kick in. Still, he was never truly *obese*, and surely he's not now as fat as that guy on "Mike & Molly"!

He was pretty thick on Criminal Minds.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||03/17/2013|
So you're saying you're going to support the movie, R7?
|by Anonymous||reply 9||03/17/2013|
He's got a shirtless scene in that clip, and it's clear he isn't fat.
He's not a gym-obsessed muscle-bound porn-star or anything either. But he's pretty nice looking to these eyes.

Nicholas Brendon int playing the fat gay. He's playing the attractive boyfriend who helps fat gay discover his joy.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||03/17/2013|
So you're saying it's TWO fatties finding themselves in this movie?
|by Anonymous||reply 12||03/17/2013|
[quote]I just saw the trailer, fat is the least of his problems, he is also whiny, obnoxious and a hystronic over actor.
I think you're confused. You MUST be talking about the other actor, in which case, I agree.

WTF I was expected some whale.
He's not fat you idiots.

I thought the lead was the little boy from 'Jerry McGuire' ......but that would be Jonathan Lipnicki. Bummer.
This looks like just about every 'rom-com' I've ever seen at the gay film festival.

Is Nicholas Bremdon the one who plays Penelope's bf on CRIMINAL MINDS?
|by Anonymous||reply 16||03/17/2013|
I don't know which one was on Buffy but the guy with the dark hair is awful...looks like a bit of shit movie.

[quote].looks like a bit of shit movie.
A *bit* of a shit movie?
I don't think the concept is a bad one, but that just looks...I need a new word for it.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||03/18/2013|
Did you come up with a new word?
What's wrong with a bit of a shit?
|by Anonymous||reply 19||03/18/2013|
I loved it in Season 7 when Xander asked Willow to "gay him up"... I wish she would have.

The compassion and joy in this thread are inspiring. I'm crying as I type.

Without our help to pay post-production costs we may never see this important film. I liked the 1930s soundtrack, the humorously accepting straight characters and the performance by the lead. This could be something special like 'Moonstruck' meets 'Torch Song Trilogy'. This exudes real 'little film that could' karma that could result in some surprises on Oscar night.

Personal Quote: "Sometimes I've been asked if I think my characters are stereotypes. But I think we've swung to the reverse of that. Matt is a comic book geek gay who is heartbroken and not taking an opportunity to get it on with all these boys who are throwing themselves at him. That felt like something different for me that I haven't seen in gay cinema lately."
It's so true. Studs are out there, throwing themselves at comic book geeks. If they only knew...

They both has dark hair. Who are you talkings about?
|by Anonymous||reply 24||03/19/2013|
Darker hair, the little fat one who squeals.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||03/19/2013|
Nicholas Brandon is a handsome actor, with a fine body...but he lacks the over-sized lollipop head that is essential to screen stars.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||03/19/2013|
Wow, they hit the $2 million mark on Kickstarter. Good for them.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||05/09/2013|
That trailer was painful. Why do most gay movies look and sound like they are filmed by high school students trying for a C?
