In her day it was considered very prestigious. that was when it was an all-girls' school. All the Seven Sisters schools that went co-Ed lost prestige as a result of the change.

So M really was an uncommon woman?

by Anonymousreply 1503/17/2013

from wikipedia:

"but also enrolled as an exchange student at Dartmouth College for a quarter before it became coeducational"

She went as an exchange student to Dartmouth? Why? Don't you usually go to Europe or something?

(sometimes I hate Meryl, she seems to have had it so easy. I wanted to major in Drama but I was bullied so relentlessly I transferred schools)

by Anonymousreply 1603/17/2013

Uncommon Women is about Mt. Holyoke grads, not Vassar.

by Anonymousreply 1703/18/2013

Meryl made her mind up when she was twelve That into foreign languages she would delve But at 17 to Vassar it was quite a blow That in 27 languages she couldn't say no

by Anonymousreply 1803/18/2013

Attitude, what else...

by Anonymousreply 1903/18/2013

I've had just about enough of your Vassar-bashing, young lady!

by Anonymousreply 2003/18/2013

Meryl's high school yearbook described her as "where the boys are" she was a whore?
