I go from one fixation to the next, downloading everything I can by a certain artist or producer. December/early January was Danny Tenaglia, a 90s house music dj/remixer. Then I was on a Cass Elliot kick, downloaded everything from her 10 yr career. Currently it's Giorgio Moroder, who has always been one of my favorite artists. He had two double-cd compilations come out in the last 6 months, which has revived my interest in organizing my Giorgio collection.

R50 I know lots of gays who are into metal. I'm 47 and grew up in the '70s and '80s. I loved everything from Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Fleetwood Mac & ABBA to Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Rush and AC/DC. I just love music. I like Funk, R&B, Classic Rock, Jazz, Heavy Metal, Disco, New Wave, Industrial, Pop... everything except rap and country.

I attended tons of metal concerts in the late '70s/'80s and had a lot of fun. I've never called myself a 'headbanger' or anything ridiculous like that, but I love a lot of the music. Even some of the modern metal stuff like Tool, Opeth, Mastodon, etc. If the music is good, I'll jam it!

I know lots of gay guys who rock out. Most people assume we all like divas in glittery dresses. Those singers are okay, but they were my mom's music, not mine.

by Anonymousreply 5903/19/2013

R59 Same here. I always liked hard rock/metal. It's always been part of what I listen to. As a kid, I would be rocking Devo or Blondie one minute and cranking Led Zeppelin or AC/DC the next. I never looked the part of a metal head (torn dirty jeans, long stringy hair, denim jacket with patches, etc), but I did love the music. I still do.

My olders brothers were into it and it just came naturally for me to love it. I liked mostly new wave and hard rock and my sisters were into disco. So we were a well-rounded musical family.

I don't know either.

Is it supposed to be "Which artists do you listen to?"

"Which songs do you listen to on a regular basis?"

by Anonymousreply 7603/19/2013

Fran Warren.

by Anonymousreply 7703/19/2013

Taylor Swift is just magic in every cense. Not only a beautiful voice, but a talanted composer. Her insiteful lyrics combined with lilty melodies and lush arrangemints can only be rated as sublime. She puts so much feeling into her songs because they come from her heart. Her perfect pitch is just like one of the girls in our choir. She's a vocalis for the ages.

I love classic rock and classic R&B, so my main choices are: Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, Isley Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Prince, David Bowie, Steely Dan, the Police, Jimi Hendrix.

by Anonymousreply 8703/21/2013

Kelly Clarkson and Madonna I listen to pretty much every day. Adele, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Britney are also mainstains.

Perhaps a little surprising given that list, but I am also big fan of The Foo Fighters, The Killers, Nirvana, and GNR, but I don't listen to them quite as frequently.

by Anonymousreply 8803/21/2013

r86, you don't have to double space your rather boring and awful choices, dear, you're taking up way too much space being all self-important. Hipster bands suck, they're all boring upper middle class self conscious poseurs who wouldn't know a good song if it bit them on the ass. Magnetic Fields suck ass and Stephen Merritt's an ugly shit as well.

by Anonymousreply 8903/21/2013

Rush, Porcupine Tree, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Opeth, Nine Inch Nails, Queen, Dream Theater, Clutch.

I also like a little Lady Gaga and Madonna.
