Mississippi: The All You Can Eat State
Mississippi the most obese State in the US has passed a law ensuring their citizens will always retain the right to eat themselves to death. Frankly, I see this as a good thing. Can we get Alabama to follow them?
"In the most obese state in the nation, Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant says he'll sign a new law to prevent cities or counties from banning extra-large soft drinks or requiring restaurants to list calorie counts on menus. Some lawmakers call Senate Bill 2687 the "anti-Bloomberg" bill as a jab at New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who tried to limit super-size sodas.
Bryant, a Republican, says he opposes local restrictions because he sees them as "nanny state" interference into private business practices.
Health advocates urged Bryant to veto the bill, but he says it's up to consumers, not government, to make healthful food choices.
Bloomberg said Friday on WOR radio in New York that the Mississippi bill is "ridiculous" and life expectancy in the Southern state is shorter because of obesity."

Let's open some gay strip clubs in those Mississippi hick towns. And abortion clinics!

So they don't want a nanny state limiting their fatty bingefests, but they have no problem trying to stick a wand in my vagina whether I want one there or not.

That's why we have 50 states. We get to choose the states and the governance to live under (those of us who can afford to choose). I wouldn't mind visiting MS as it's a beautiful state. However, I would never live there no matter how cheap the real estate is.

As are you r4. An inarticulate idiot.

It's not a good thing because they don't just die off. They linger for years with diseases and disabilities that suck up tons of our nation's wealth. None of that G-D'd socialism mind you. Just good old fashioned Medicare.

MS is a parasitic shithole on the dole.
Frankly, they have no right to govern themselves since they aren't even a self-sufficient state.
If you can't even support yourself (looking at many of you dumbass red states), who in the hell are you to dictate the direction of the rest of the country, esp. since that direction is backwards.
Bunch of useless troglodytes with no money, no brains and big mouths.

Both sets of grandparents are from Mississippi, and while they missed family there, they all agreed it was a hellhole. What are you basing the assertion that it is a "beautiful state" on, r3?

I know I'll get slammed for it, but I agree with R3 in one measure: Mississippi, while politically retarded, is a very beautiful state. I've visited twice, and have been surprised by some of the hot guys I've come across. Lots of blond football jocks, and they all seem very, very bi-curious.

Have you ever been to the south r8? Southern states are beautiful. I'm not talking about large cities or urban areas. Many of the cities are very clean and maintained. Small-town feel. There's also the landscape. The natural beauty. Because many southern states are not heavily populated or overdeveloped, there are many parts that are left just... natural.

Oh to be a 20-something in Biloxi.
