What's everyone having for Sunday dinner?

I'm having someone recently on the wagon so I'm thinking low carb to help with cravings. Also his liver hurts. Any suggestions?

by Anonymousreply 5703/24/2013

Low carb is not going to help him with his cravings. Good grief. He's craving carbs so feed them to him so he doesn't have to drink. This is not the time to micromanage his food intake.

by Anonymousreply 803/10/2013

Going to brunch in a little while. I won't eat again until supper time. I'll probably just heat up a pie or something.

by Anonymousreply 903/10/2013

No money til Thursday/payday. But I have four cans of Campbell's Chunky and a bag of rice. So I'm going to ladle the soup over rice and pretend I'm in an expensive Chinese restaurant.

by Anonymousreply 1003/10/2013

Jenny Craig. Maybe I'll have the chicken tikka with brown rice.

by Anonymousreply 1103/10/2013

Thick-cut sausage.

by Anonymousreply 1203/10/2013

[quote] But I have four cans of Campbell's Chunky and a bag of rice

We used to eat that in the olden college days, before America had ramen noodles. We would buy canned tuna and canned tiny shrimp. We'd chop up some celery and dump it and the shrimp in something called Golden Tomato soup, pour it over brown rice we bought from the followers of the teenaged Indian guru who lived up the road and have "shrimp gumbo." We'd put the tuna in one of the Cream of soups --probably mushroom --and dump it over brown rice.

We're going southern tonight for a group of 16 of us.

Fred Chicken or Country Ham

Sting Beans cooked in bacon grease

Corn on the Cob

Baked Mac and Cheese

Potato Salad

Cotton Salad

Deviled Eggs

Corn Bread Squares (gluten free)

Bourbon Punch

Patty Cake with Molasses and Apple Compote

We started cooking yesterday and lost the fucking hour.

by Anonymousreply 1403/10/2013

"We would buy canned tuna"

Except tuna is more expensive now, over a dollar a can. And high mercury levels- eat sparingly.

by Anonymousreply 1503/10/2013

[R32] Vegan loaf, a faux meatloaf. The one today was made with textured vegetable protein, oats, flax meal, breadcrumbs with spices etc. I also make one with bulgur and lentils

by Anonymousreply 3503/10/2013

Pizza Hut Sliders.

by Anonymousreply 3603/10/2013

Nothing personal, R35, but that sounds awful. Is "textured vegetable protein" another way of saying "tofu"?

by Anonymousreply 3703/10/2013

Roasted pork fillet with honey and sage, a green salad on the side and potatoes. Apple compote with roasted almonds, whipped cream and chocolate chips for desert.

by Anonymousreply 3803/10/2013

Pappardelle with Bolognese Sauce.

We went to the Italian market yesterday and they had fresh pappardelle - $3.50 for 1 lb container.

The Bolognese sauce is simmering as I type. Used beef, pork and veal.

I just whipped up something trashy and indulgent -- two hot dogs with Sriracha mixed with mayonnaise, pickled cabbage, and potato chips. Side of canned chili sauce and chopped onions. And a Bud Light.

by Anonymousreply 4403/10/2013

Leftovers. Had a dinner party last evening. London Broil, fresh green beans, roasted baby red potatoes. Simple tossed salad with spring greens, kalamata olives, feta, red onion and mandarin oranges.

Just enough left for dinner tonite.

by Anonymousreply 4503/10/2013

Is the Bud Light part of the recipe, or a side dish, r44?

by Anonymousreply 4603/10/2013

Homemade pot roast with carrots and potatoes, and brown rice pudding with rum soaked raisins.

Ina garten's lentil soup. It's surprisingly, very, very good.

by Anonymousreply 5103/10/2013

I would just like to report that my Shrimp Creole turned out great, excellent as a matter of fact.

I started with one of those powdered mixes and "doctored" it. I am a good doctor-er.

by Anonymousreply 5203/11/2013

I would also like to report that my Pappardelle with Bolognese Sauce was outstanding.

Of course, we didn't eat until 9pm but it was still great.

by Anonymousreply 5303/11/2013

A mate and I did a Caribbean dinner for friends:

It was SO GOOD!!!

by Anonymousreply 5403/11/2013

Beef and sausage Lasagna, extra deep. A big tossed salad with Italian dressing. Whole wheat rolls with sea salt and butter. Dark chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

My college age nephew and his roomates were here for a visit and needed a real dinner.

If I ate like this all the time I'd be 250 pounds!

by Anonymousreply 5503/11/2013

I always prepare food in the morning to heat and serve later. Today I made a green curry lentil and bulgur dish with fresh spinach wilted in when served, topped with greek yogurt. I used the dark green speckled french lentils. Then I made a carrot apple salad with medjool dates and walnuts.
