Will anyone alive today live to see the first female Pope?

I guess the bigger question is, will anyone alive today see the end of the Catholic Church? I guess one would really have to believe in miracles for that to happen.

It's happened already.

AnnE will probably be nominated soon. She'd look lovely in the hats BTW.

The Catholic Church is basically dying out in Europe as we speak, only 5% of the French and 15% of the Spanish attend a weekly mass. Latino immigration is the only thing keeping it alive in the US.

I think not. JPII and Ratzinger have assured the leadership of the church is uniformly conservative. It will take a long, long time for a liberal wing to establish itself, and female priests is not likely to be the first radical reform. That would be the celibacy pledge.

No. The Judeo-Christian-Moslem religions are based on patriarchal values.

They are anti-woman to their core.

Unless there is a resurgence of "Mary"...there is zero chance.

I hope someone alive today will live to see the end of the Catholic church. What a better world that would be to live in!

by Anonymousreply 703/08/2013

I think the Roman Catholic Church will collapse before that. Break apart like the Soviet Union.

by Anonymousreply 803/08/2013

Ah! I remember it well

by Anonymousreply 903/08/2013

OP, the better question is, will you live to see the Cathloic Church destroyed.

by Anonymousreply 1003/08/2013

I don't understand why anyone here would be giddy about the future potential of the Church. It needs to be destroyed.

by Anonymousreply 1103/08/2013

Considering only men have been allowed to be priests, and very few of them in the west are signing up, a better question is will the church consider allowing women into the Priesthood at all. Without that happening there's zero hope of a female Pope ever.

And you can hope for the fall of the Catholic church all you like OP, but it ain't going to happen. There are many places around the world where Catholicism is alive and well.

Will anyone alive today live to see a straight male pope?

by Anonymousreply 1303/08/2013

no, cuz popes are male pedophiles.

by Anonymousreply 1403/10/2013

We will more likely see people walk on Mars first.

by Anonymousreply 1503/10/2013

Does anyone care if we ever see a female Pope or not? Even if we did, you can be sure she'd be a homophobe too.

All this "Pope" shit is stupid and out-of-date.
