Splitting Heirs: Kate and Queen at war!

The Queen ignites royal furor with KATE MIDDLETON – as the British Empire seems on the verge of an ungodly godparent WAR.

PRINCE WILLIAM and his pregnant wife Kate are facing a new family crisis – his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, has pooh-poohed Kate’s choice of godparents!

Sources say the royal mom-to-be would like her wild-child sister Pippa and troubled younger brother James Middleton to be her baby’s religious sponsors.

But the image-conscious queen feels Kate’s siblings are “unsuitable,” and wants the coveted roles for her son Prince Andrew and his 24-year-old daughter Princess Beatrice.

“It’s the latest battle for William and Kate, and one that they very well could lose,” a royal insider told The ENQUIRER.

“WILLIAM IS STILL VERY MUCH under his grandmother’s thumb, and Kate’s incredibly frustrated because she feels powerless.”

Kate’s brother James, a 25-year-old college dropout, earned royal scorn for his controversial business, which peddles cakes bearing the image of Princess Diana as well as novelty cakes featuring smutty slogans.

“On top of that, James is teetering on bankruptcy,” said the source. “He had to hit up his family for money to bail him out.”

Meanwhile, 29- year-old Pippa is considered “radioactive” for her party-girl lifestyle and the flop of her new book on entertaining, “Celebrate.”

But Kate, 31, always assumed her siblings would be her baby’s godparents “until the queen let it be known to her that they were unworthy role models for a royal heir, and she wants granddaughter Beatrice and William’s uncle Andrew as the baby’s official sponsors,” said the source.

“Kate is heartbroken, and William changes the subject whenever she brings it up. It’s Kate’s first real taste of the queen’s iron fist, and she doesn’t like it.

OK, DL, this story sounds credible to me, even if it does come from the National Enquirer.

What say you, Dear DL?

by Anonymousreply 8007/09/2013

I always love tabloid stories about the queen because she's always supposed to be furious at someone behind closed doors.

When as we know (from seeing "The Queen"), she's never furious art anyone. She's always just mildly disgruntled.

by Anonymousreply 103/06/2013

Miss Kate Middleton knew what this gig entailed when she hired on.

This ridiculous snip of a girl will do as she is told!

by Anonymousreply 203/06/2013

Accuse them all of incest!

by Anonymousreply 303/06/2013

As we all know, the National Enquirer has a direct line into Buckingham Palace.

by Anonymousreply 403/06/2013

I know, R4 , I never implied that the Enquirer is a viewed as trust-worthy source.

However, as I mentioned in another thread, my American/British cousin (dual citizenship) had a friend who wrote stories for the the Enquirer as well as for various British tabloids. He always said that the public would be amazed at how often people of all backgrounds would provide insider info for the right price. Leaks from members of the royal staff (which is HUGE) were no exception.

by Anonymousreply 503/06/2013

Since the Queen is the English Pope, I don't see where Wills and Kate have much of a say. I mean, Wills will one day be the E-Pope too.

by Anonymousreply 603/06/2013

Entirely plausible.

by Anonymousreply 703/06/2013

The only thing that makes Andrew suitable as a "religious sponsor" is his relationship to the Queen.

by Anonymousreply 803/06/2013

They should simply go along with what Her Majestic Snobbery wants and then change the godparents when William becomes king.

by Anonymousreply 903/06/2013

Exactly, R8. Thank you for stating what I was thinking.

by Anonymousreply 1003/06/2013

Well, Kate's brother and sister ARE pretty useless and trashy so I think the Queen is right.

What about William's two cousins, Zara and the boy? Anne's two children.

by Anonymousreply 1103/06/2013

Why are Kate's siblings so trashy? Because they have to work for a living?

by Anonymousreply 1203/06/2013

I meant to say the following:

Why does the Queen consider Kate's siblings so trashy? Is it because they have to work harder than she in order to make one ten-thousandth of the Queen's worth?

Elizabeth is disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 1303/06/2013

OH, wait, this must be it:

[quote] On top of that, James is teetering on bankruptcy,” said the source. “He had to hit up his family for money to bail him out.” Meanwhile, 29- year-old Pippa is considered “radioactive” for her party-girl lifestyle and the flop of her new book on entertaining, “Celebrate.”

Failure of one's business or project is just simply unacceptable for the Queen. She obviously has no concept of the global downturn. Why should she? The bitch has never, ever had to worry about having money.

by Anonymousreply 1403/06/2013

I gotta agree with the Queen on this one. What were they thinking?

by Anonymousreply 1503/06/2013

I agree with the Queen - they are two unsavory characters, however, I don't find this story entirely believable as I doubt Kate has any allegiance to anyone who would make her look bad in the eyes of the royal family. She's not Diana - she is a team player. I could see her objecting to Andy & Beatrice just on general principles (yuck!), but I highly doubt she'd go to the mat for her trashy siblings.

by Anonymousreply 1603/06/2013

Back in the day, the big conflicts in British royal history were about sovereignty, the power of the church versus the state, taxation, relations with Spain, France and the Empire, the power of the nobles versus the crown.

Now they're about choosing godparents.

by Anonymousreply 1703/06/2013

She said she wouldn't be "queen" for a long time when someone posed a question to her.

by Anonymousreply 1903/06/2013

What doesn't make a lot of sense about all this is that the heirs to the throne almost always have multiple godparents--both Prince William and Prince Harry have multiple godparents.

I see no problem with including Pippa and James among the godparents of Kate and William's child if they also have various additional godparents among the royal family and the aristocracy, which is almost certainly going to be the case.

I think the Enquirer is making this story up.

by Anonymousreply 2003/06/2013

This is rubbish. Of course Kate will be allowed to have one of her siblings as godparent, most likely Pippa. It’s unlikely that both her siblings will be godparents at once. James will have his turn with the next child. Diana’s siblings were godparents to her sons with no problem.

Harry will absolutely be a sponsor as well. The remaining 2 or 3 slots will be filled with Kate & Williams close friends, most likely those from the upper crust: the van Straubenzees, van Cutsems etc. Possibly Guy Pelly but as a nightclub owner he might have to wait to stand up for the “spare” (next child).

It’s possible, though unlikely, that one of the slots could be filled with an heir from one of the other royals families, such as Haakon or Mette-Merit of Norway (both close to Charles), but this isn’t practiced by the Brit royals anymore as it still is on the continent.

I don’t believe that William or Kate are close enough to Andrew or his daughters to have them as godparents. William supposedly disdains Dave Clark, Bea’s longtime bf, so it’s unlikely.

by Anonymousreply 2103/06/2013

"But the image-conscious queen."

She wasn't so image conscious when she was trying to cop a feel off of Michelle Obama.

by Anonymousreply 2203/06/2013

I wonder if Kate now feels isolated and bullied like Diana once did. Diana deeply resented having to kowtow to the queen and her incessant meddling in every petty detail of her life. She famously said she was treated like nothing more than a royal broodmare. I'm sure Kate is getting a lot of that same "Look pretty, breed heirs and keep your mouth shut" attitude from the Queen as well.

Everyone wanted to label Margaret as the evil sister but Elizabeth was probably much more of a harridan than she was.

by Anonymousreply 2303/06/2013

The story is fake. One thing to remember is that, as long as there's a royal family in the Palace, this child will one day be head of the Church of England. I can see the Queen looking at the situation from that angle and would understand why she wouldn't want Kate's brother to be a godparent. At the same time, if she were giving this consideration now, she probably would pick Edward over Andrew. This story is a bunch of baloney.

by Anonymousreply 2403/06/2013

What do you think the Queen does all day with herself? Of course she picks these small battles constantly. What else does she have to amuse herself with?

I'll never understand people who get into the hype that these people just live perfect serene lives. They have social and mental issues just like everyone else. I'm sure Elizabeth is capable of having a bitch moment just like any one of us.

by Anonymousreply 2503/06/2013

Bwahahaha....Kate actually thinks she'll have a say with anything in her life anymore?! That's rich! I sincerely hope she doesn't think she'll be naming her own children too! We can't have a Prince Caleb or Princess Kara now can we???

by Anonymousreply 2703/06/2013

After Andrew's embarrassing association with the billionaire sex offender who probably procured underage girls for him, I don't think the Queen would choose him, even if he's her favorite

by Anonymousreply 2803/06/2013

Andrew will NOT be a godfather. Please. He won't even be under consideration. He's not that close to William or Kate and they have plenty of other people to choose from. Uncles are not usually godparents to the Brit royals.

Harry and Pippa are shoe ins. The other slots up for grabs. James Middleton will be chosen the next round.

by Anonymousreply 2903/06/2013

Photos of the Diana Smutty cakes please.

by Anonymousreply 3003/06/2013

I find James to be very attractive. He's got my vote!

by Anonymousreply 3103/06/2013

[quote] Queen Elizabeth, has pooh-poohed Kate’s choice of godparents!

She most certainly did. And we spent the entire day cleaning it all up!!! Oh, the smell!

by Anonymousreply 3203/06/2013

Kate cleaned the toilet and touched Mam's food without washing her hands, sending Queeny to hospital.

by Anonymousreply 3303/07/2013

I don't see how Andrew is all that suitable either. Liz must be turning a blind eye to his troubles.

by Anonymousreply 3403/07/2013

[quote]I don't see how Andrew is all that suitable either.

Liz would agree with you, r34, and is probably laughing at anyone who thinks the National Enquirer story is real.

by Anonymousreply 3503/07/2013

What reason does the future heir need a godparent? If one is not named and the parents die, will this child be put into an orphange?

by Anonymousreply 3607/08/2013

[all posts by ham-fisted troll a removed.]

by Anonymousreply 3707/08/2013

It does sound like Kate's sibs - particularly her brother - are losers.

by Anonymousreply 3807/08/2013

Who gives a fuck-this is not news. These inbred, overly privileged fools are a waste of space. Lizzy can sod off.

by Anonymousreply 4007/08/2013

Why would this archaic out-dated ceremonial post be so importtant to the royal Family anyways?

It's not like the child be be left a godless orphan if the parents die...or maybe there is something more sinister to the post than we commoners are allowed to know.

Wouldn't put anythig past that family of murderous reptiles.

by Anonymousreply 4207/08/2013

It is nice to see the NATIONAL ENQUIRER stopping its Camilla-bashing for a while ...

by Anonymousreply 4307/09/2013

The queen needs to acqwee-esque to Kate, she has brought so much goodwill to the roayl family last was soorly lacking, the queen needs to realize that we are in a newage.l

by Anonymousreply 4407/09/2013

R9, you can't "change godparents." The ones who take the vows at the baptism are it for life.

by Anonymousreply 4507/09/2013

r45, for reals? I had no idea it was part of a ceramony.

by Anonymousreply 4607/09/2013

by Anonymousreply 4707/09/2013

Harry and Pippa are shoe ins.

by Anonymousreply 4807/09/2013

R42, you don't seem to understand what a godparent is. The child is too young (DUH) to take the baptismal promises, so the sponsors do it in his or her name. That's what godparents are liturgically.

by Anonymousreply 4907/09/2013

The queen needs to acqwee-esque to Kate

by Anonymousreply 5007/09/2013

Does Pippi do anything other than wear ill-fitting, gaudy clothes and screw everything in sight, just like her trolley dolly mother used to?

by Anonymousreply 5107/09/2013

C'mon UK-have a Russian-style revolution and get rid of these entitled, self-important cunts.

by Anonymousreply 5207/09/2013

[quote]I wonder if

[quote]I'm sure Kate is

by Anonymousreply 5307/09/2013

This makes me dislike QE. Fuck her. Kate & William can do what they want, fuck the old protocols. She should put whom she wants as Godparents, not whom the old bag wants, and I love QE but she's fucked up if this is true.

by Anonymousreply 5407/09/2013

Does this bitch not know where her bread is buttered? It should be a no brainer to name members of the royal family as godparents. She really thought her trashy family was worthy?

by Anonymousreply 5507/09/2013

Her family is not as trashy as the inbred Royals bitch

by Anonymousreply 5607/09/2013

R55 is entirely correct -- Li'l bitch knew what family she was marrying into.

by Anonymousreply 5707/09/2013

[quote]William supposedly disdains Dave Clark, Bea’s longtime bf, so it’s unlikely.

Why is this?

by Anonymousreply 5807/09/2013

What about Fergie? She'd be a wonderful godmother.

by Anonymousreply 5907/09/2013

Snort lol @ r59 !

by Anonymousreply 6007/09/2013

William has about six godparents. This new baby could have Pippa and James, Andrew and Beatrice and at least another two.

Bullshit "story" all designed for titilation and scandal - "her wild-child sister Pippa and troubled younger brother", "party-girl lifestyle"!

by Anonymousreply 6107/09/2013

Agree that the Andrew suggestion is the 'Enquirer' teasing. Doubtless the NE, along with the (now more cautious) Brit tabloids have thick files on Andy's recreations.

They've gone as far as they dare, given residual 'respect' and the current climate for the press. He has though had bad notices for his role as a roving trade 'ambassador.'

If he does somehow make Godfather status it'll be an attempt to upgrade his image, even at this late stage. Good luck with that.

The Windsors can indeed go awry with their choices. Charles chose Laurens van der Post to be one of William's Godparents. After LvdP's death it was revealed that the spiritual guru and sage had falsified many claims in his books; and fathered a child with a 14-year-old girl under his care.

by Anonymousreply 6207/09/2013

I don't think Charles would really approve of Andrew as a choice.

by Anonymousreply 6307/09/2013

everybody knows the "royal" families are all trash! Nothing high class about them if you take away their money.

by Anonymousreply 6407/09/2013

Sarah, Duchess of York, would make a wonderful godmother. Despite any personal problems, Sarah (and Diana) had personalities and made the royal family relevant, exciting and interesting. And by all accounts, Sarah has been a great mother to her daughters. She'd make a nice godmother, and it would be a nice gesture to welcome her back into the family.

Also, choosing Sarah as godmother would be nice acknowledgement to her friend, Diana.

by Anonymousreply 6507/09/2013

Have there been any arguments over circumcision yet?

by Anonymousreply 6607/09/2013

Prince Edward would make a lovely fairy godmother.

by Anonymousreply 6707/09/2013

[quote] I always love tabloid stories about the queen because she's always supposed to be furious at someone behind closed doors.

Remember the old SNL sketch with the late, great Phil Hartman where he played Reagan as a cold-eyed shark who was in charge of Iran Contra behind closed doors, while presenting himself as a doddering fool to the public? They should do something like that with the queen. Have her waving primly in public, while behind closed doors she tells generals how to run the Afghan war...

by Anonymousreply 6807/09/2013

Oh please. The National Enquirer makes shit up all the time.

by Anonymousreply 6907/09/2013

Diana's relatives are nobility, and much more desireable as godparents. The Spencers are a much older English family that the Battenburg-Windsors.

by Anonymousreply 7007/09/2013

Laughing my ass off at the idea of Andrew as any kind of good example of anything for anyone. He is the personification of dishonesty and over-inflated self-importance. Just... no.

by Anonymousreply 7107/09/2013

I've seen a docu on British tv that said that Andrew is the Queen's favourite child. Can't remember if he was also the Duke's. He has a certain relaxed charm and may be more fun.

by Anonymousreply 7207/09/2013

This is nullshit. In the first place, the royal Princeling will have several sets of Godparents. At least three sets, if my memory serves correctly. And in the second place, if the Queen could not persuade Charles & Diana to pick The Princess Royal, Anne to be one of the godparents to either William or Harry, then she certainly isn't calling the shots with this kid.

Andrew is totally unsuitable. Not only because he is a complete sleazeball, but because he is too old. It would be far more likely they would pick from their own generation. So look for Pippa and probably Sara and Beatrice or Eugenie to be part of one set, and for Harry and James to be part of another. Look at the wedding party and you'll discover who they will select, and I don't mean the Beckhams.

The Queen is not "furious" at all. Charles might get a little peevish because he hopes someone from Camilla's end gets picked, but that would be about it.

I don't think anyone wants Andrew. He's a purveyor of porn, and kinky pervert and he has a larcenous bent. Not "godfather" material.

Plus, he is not close to either one of the boys. And Charles doesn't like him. The Queen is saying very little. This is between Kate and William and Charles.

by Anonymousreply 7307/09/2013

I meant Zara, not Sara. Zara Phillips is very close to both Will and Katerine.

by Anonymousreply 7407/09/2013

[quote]Have her waving primly in public, while behind closed doors she tells generals how to run the Afghan war...

Or strips Diana of her HRH status...

by Anonymousreply 7507/09/2013

And we were very good friends of the Washingtons!

by Anonymousreply 7607/09/2013

What a bunch of vacuous cunts. They all deserve each other.

by Anonymousreply 7707/09/2013

If only they hadn't allowed William to marry a commoner, none of this would have been an issue.

by Anonymousreply 7807/09/2013

Did you know that Harry has size meat? A friend of mine told me that Harry was not shy about showering in Iraq--they shower in the open--and yes, he is a KING down there. Sweet. He is also uncut and trims the royal bush.

by Anonymousreply 7907/09/2013

The queen refused to let Charles marry Camilla when they were younger and wildly in love and look at all the grief that caused, R78.
