Silicon Valley is very nice, OP. The silicon is amazing - it catches the light when the sun hits the slopes, and the little river that meanders through the valley is a wonderful place to picnic. So quiet. And the glimpses of the Los Altos skyline in the distance is lovely.

A tour of the Grand Concourse in the Bronx, NY, after midnight certainly must be on the list of every discriminating voyager.

"I heard that the Silicon Valley was a very interesting place to visit."

I once went into the Santa Clara Fry's Electronics, and overheard a guy saying "This is the cultural heart of Silicon Valley". And that tells you all you need to know about the place.

Visit the Colorado Plateau. The "Painted Desert" is fabulous.

What do you mean by "interesting?" Scenic? Culturally significant? Historic? Everyone has different interests.

Gettysburg, PA - even if you're not into Civil War history, it's a beautiful eerie place

Ok, you're going to think this is really weird, but National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes. It's a replica of the French once. Lovely, peaceful, but kind of eerie, in a Blair Witch Project kind of way.
