The Gong Show

For my favorite judge, it's a tie between JP Morgan and Rip Taylor.

Do you have a favorite?

Jaye P. by far.

"No one follows the fox, asshole. So fuck off!"

Did they ever reveal who the Masked Comic was?

I liked Gene Gene the Dancing Machine. God I miss that show. Was Chuck Barris ever NOT stoned?

I've never watched an episode of "American Idol" but never missed "The Gong Show."

Yes, I'm old.

Jaye once took one of the little score cards and propped it up in front of her mike. NBC didn't understand it or missed it. On it, she had written:

I SWALLOW

Can anybody identify the tall, thin judge? I recognize JP and Artie Johnson, but is that David Letterman?

Thanks, r9, back at 'ya.

Anybody know who that other judge is on the video I posted at r7? I now don't think that's a young Letterman. He looks familiar but I can't tell who he is.

David Letterman's IMDb page shows he was a judge on The Gong Show in 1976, so that may well be him.

I remember seeing her card blurred out one day and always wondered what she had written. Maybe this was the same incident, censored for later broadcast.

To R3:

The Unknown Comic was Murray Langston, an LA-based comedian and writer who worked on shows like the Dating Game, Sonny and Cher and the Hudson Brothers Comedy Show
