I can't remember many of the porn sites I visited back then. Almost all of those sites are gone now. Arnold Schwarzenegger was the first guy I searched for because he was the only muscular man I knew of by name. So any website with pics of him I went to. Yahoo Groups is practically dead now but 10 years ago it got a lot of traffic. MSN groups was popular, although much less than Yahoo groups, at the same time.

Menonthenet.com is still around and semi active.

by Anonymousreply 603/05/2013

I remember going to a lot of the Geocities sites.

Jerking off to still photos instead of video (which didn't exist on the Internet then) seems like such ancient history now.

Was there ever a site called ManVoxX.com?

I've been on DL, on and off for a decade and have seen it referenced over the years. It was apparently defunct before I came here, if it ever existed at all. It may have only been a running DL joke.

I say that because if you Google "manvoxx" (or "manvox"), the only relevant link is a 2004 screenshot...from DataLounge:

Remember when all we had were VHS & magazines?

by Anonymousreply 903/05/2013

Hunkhunter is still around, with that enormous archive of sites they were known for. Every site has a "date added" notation. Some of the sites are at least a dozen years old, with small galleries of small photos.

by Anonymousreply 1003/05/2013

R8, it's Manvox. See link below. It is a gay message board and chat site that has had a small, but dedicated, following for several years especially in Europe and Latin America. Now, some consider it a "hip" online destination to go to but I think that mainly a result of its perceived exclusivity and relative difficulty of access.

In 1980, all we had was a picture of Paul Allen presenting his hole.

by Anonymousreply 1203/06/2013

Gurrrrrrl, I done got caught by my parents going to menonthenet! I didn't know back then that computers have this thing called a history. Oopsie daisy! Bubblebutts.com was a one too because I'll never, ever forget hearing those words come out of my dad's mouth as he read aloud the list of sites he'd found out I'd visited.

I remember when my family first got the internet (I was 14) and of course that night when everyone went to bed I immediately search for gay porn. The first gay ANYTHING that I jerked off was this still image of some blond twink laying spread eagle in a dingy hotel room. It's amazing how such low-grade stuff could be so exciting back then. It was the first gay thing I ever saw so it really "revved me up". I even printed it out so I could take it up to my room and enjoy it at my leisure LOL.

I remember being so paranoid about erasing the browser history. I'd do it at least twice a day to make sure I didn't get caught.

R21, We should have known that you'd know where to find the booze AND the boys!

by Anonymousreply 2203/06/2013

alt.binaries.pictures.naked.men or something like that. I probably downloaded a million viruses to my old pc back then, this was around '94 or '95, when AOL caused the usenet to explode with invaders like me.

by Anonymousreply 2303/06/2013

AOL chat boards omg. Crazy memories. Desperate closet queens before online porn really took off. For a lot of those guys the chat boards were their only connection to others "of their kind". It was like some sort of strange virtual Roman orgy.

by Anonymousreply 2403/06/2013

R13, you still wake up sometimes, don't you? You wake up in the dark and hear the screaming of your father saying "bubblebutts.com".
