DL COOKS, Do you use Pam/coating spray? Why/why not?

Wondering if coating spray is a good choice to use.

by Anonymousreply 1803/04/2013

I do. It works.

by Anonymousreply 103/03/2013

Yes, OP I use it on my waffle maker it's great.

by Anonymousreply 203/03/2013

I bought a bunch of cheap silicone brushes so I can brush on a light coating of a better grade of cooking oil than Pam.

I use the all natural canola oil spray from whole foods. Tastes a little less cancery than Pam.

by Anonymousreply 403/03/2013

It's the only thing I cook eggs in.

by Anonymousreply 503/03/2013

What r3 said. Plus it doesnt get all over your cabiinets and floor.

by Anonymousreply 603/03/2013

I use it for eggs as well but nothing else. My roommate in college used in exclusively to coat the fooseball table and was horrified it was thought of as food, he honestly had no idea. That seriously made me rethink using it on other things!

I roll my hair with chicken drumsticks and then spray it with Pam®.

Wonderfully greasy and curly at the same time!

by Anonymousreply 803/03/2013

I use it as aftershave.

by Anonymousreply 903/03/2013

Never, I use olive oil.

by Anonymousreply 1003/03/2013

r8, lol

by Anonymousreply 1103/03/2013

I use it on the baking tray in my toaster oven. It keeps food from sticking, but sometimes creates a gooey film of its own that's just as nasty to clean as anything that would have occurred otherwise.

For eggs, a teaspoon of butter melted in a well seasoned cast-iron frying pan is as non-stick as anything.

As it is not food as the word has been understood for generations, I wouldn't eat it.

Good cooks don't use junk chemicals.

R10, R13, What would you use on a waffle maker?

R3, Where did you get the silicone brushes? I've never heard of that trick.

R4, I'll look into canola oil spray, thanks.

by Anonymousreply 1403/04/2013

Only when I'm jacking off.

by Anonymousreply 1503/04/2013

OP, I'd use oil.

Silicon brushes are REALLY useful.

by Anonymousreply 1603/04/2013

brushes are ok if they don't leaves bristles behind but why not just buy a mister so there's no risk of it?

by Anonymousreply 1703/04/2013

The ingredients of Pam:

Canola oil, soya lecithin, natural and artificial butter flavour, annatto and propellants isobutane and propane.

I use olive oil or butter. Or a combination of the two.
